Best for wood to wood nailing cabinets trim and crown being one, it can handle nailing trim to jambs but might not be enough for the other side of the trim where it has to go through 1/2" sheetrock as well. If combined with powergrab it should be ok though yielding about 1/2" grab into the frame.
These are meant for trim, crown molding, other detailed parts. An extra half inch wouldn't make a difference. I have a 2inch 18gauge. That small of a nail gauge, is not holding anything remotely heavy secured, stud or no stud.
Wonder why that could make it the standard 2 1/8? Suppose if your shooting 5/8 material through 1/2 drywall you still have 3/8 into framing. Kinda disappointing it doesn't take 2 inch Brads
My guess is to maintain shared manufacturing parts between the original 23 ga and the new 18 on the m12 platform. Milwaukee does offer larger ga versions with 2” + capacity in the m18 platform. Maybe limiting to 1 1/2” keeps the weight down too if it would have needed to be heavier to make 2” + work with the M12 version 🤷♂️
@@evictioncarpentry2628I assumed parts like the shell / case, trigger mechanism, nail magazine, and internals would have many things in common, but that could be completely wrong. I guess I know it’s at least part wrong based on what you know about the internal mechanisms. 🤷♂️
@@n1hlist Maybe, but none of those parts would effect the length of the nail lol. It probably just doesn't have the power to sink bigger nails reliably since they shrunk the overall size down. Their Gen1 nailers were pure trash that couldn't sink nails and they probably don't want to repeat that so they limited it to 1 1/2. That's my guess.
@@user27278I know there’s a ton of interest in it. I’m sure they’ll sell out quick and be on back order once they finally do hit stores. Definitely recommend it so far. Unless the thing breaks, that recommendation won’t change. I hope you’re able to get one soon!

0:47 it’s oak VENEER fiber board. Edit in post production 🤷♂️
Not having the option of bigger nails is an issue.
3/4 inch baseboard 1/2 drywall gives you 1/4 inch of grab in a stud .

@@n1hlistI don't think the parts are shared. This one uses the same nitrogen mechanism as the M18s and the 23g pin nailer does not.
