A lot of the innovative PACKOUT accessories were already being produced by people with 3D printers a long time ago, so now Milwaukee realizes they are losing out on sales with the aftermarket accessories produced by 3D printers, I’d still get aftermarket PACKOUT accessories made by anyone who makes accessories.
Milwaukee is pretty much the Apple of the tool world. Apple opened up an App Store for third party devs to make apps. As some apps become successful, Apple makes an in house version and drives the 3rd party out of business. Pretty much what Milwaukee is doing here.
The biggest problem I had with the 3D printed stuff was the final look of it with the rough finish and layers not to mention the fragility of the parts. I'm glad to see the Milwaukee accessories to be honest and I assure that there is still plenty of market for the guys who design and print the pieces. There was one awesome aftermarket accessory I loved and it was the front plate that allowed a crate or extra box to go on the front. It was called the Joey or something like. It was metal also so very strong and nicely finished
3D printing has forced Milwaukee to offer affordable attachments. Love it. I want a half size dolly to fit into small spaces. I love their "ammo can" storage box. I can fit an install driver, impact driver, m18 hammer drill. Some batteries, 3 sets of bits/drills, small level, stud finder, tape measure, wire stripper, pliers. Then in a thin a half size organizer. I have screws, marking tools, a center punch. I also have the 2.5 gal wet/dry vac. And with that kit I can do a whole lot of general maintenance and work around the restaurant. And clean up afterwards. Access cooler radiators and clean them. Mount things. Take apart the ice machine. Tighten all the screws on the bar stools. But I need to take 2 or 3 trips because while they all stack together. You have to unstack for transport. I do have the full size box with wheels where I throw larger tools and stuff I might need. And I can stack and move everything in one trip on that. But it's just necessarily wide. I don't do construction. Just handyman/restaurant maintenance type work. A compact half size dolly would be awesome.
I already have one of the drawer boxes on my packout. It's pretty awesome and holds a lot. Comes in 3 styles I think. 3 small drawers/2 small drawers and a big one/2 big ones
Biggest downside I see is having to deal with all that side stuff when you need to un-stack it to get stuff out of the bottom boxes or load it in your truck... I went with 2, 3, and 4 drawer units and keep my biggest/least used tools in the bottom box (with the NEAT Tools handle kit, thanks to you!) to minimize the unstacking. I'm a weekend warrior these days, just schlep my tools between my shop and my boys houses to help them on the weekends, so not having this stuff is not a deal breaker for me.
@@OOMAN Milwaukee thought these things through pretty well. I was worried about it being too wide to make it through doors. However I saw pics of how to install them and they all have a bracket that attaches to the rail. The accessory then can attach and detach from the bracket to eliminate bulk when needed.
Probably not, but if you leave your packout and find somebody to help. When you get back all the extras that were on the new additions will be gone, no problem then.
Milwaukee might have found one way to solve the problem of carrying large items or tools need to be close at hand, etc., but they’ve created security problem. Now I have to have a secure job site or secure location to store my boxes all the time. Pack out security was one of the main reasons I moved away from my buckets because I now had drawers and locks. This returns me to having tools hanging out in the open, and we all know that tools seem to find legs during lunch.
I honestly get super excited whenever Milwaukee releases more pack out stuff. Most of my garage is all pack out. I got boxes for all the different jobs I do. If I'm doing drywall I'll grab my drywall boxes. If I'm doing trim I'll grab the trim boxes. I got it all organized for the different jobs I do so I love when they add more versatility to the system
I get your asking for solutions but if you mount your big tools on the side. It defeats the purpose of having the big rolling box. I like the caddy it's convenient. I think it's just being EXTREMELY picky expecting your tools to be out and the open when the whole purpose of having a toolbox is to lockup and store away. The dolly is a great idea for carrying other heavy items. A transformer, boxes, bricks, etc. 2 in 1. Biggest issue with putting your important tools exposed on side. They could get knocked off while in transport. You really don't want to lose your most important tools. I say stop being lazy move the caddy, disconnect your boxes. lay them out and get to all at once. Vince complaint goes against the whole entire reason why rolling tool boxes exist. To transport your tools easier and keep them stored and secure.

Hmmm... I'm not a fan of having the system laying on the floor horizontally instead of Vertically... And then having to pick the whole system up vertically to move it... Especially if the boxes are heavy with lots of tools... And then having everything shift around when it gets picked up 90 degrees from the way the tools were loaded. Just my thoughts.
What's the innovation? reversable? other systems are too. A dolley you can put up to a truck bed? that size exists already. I do like they are made in USA but not that compelling compared to milwaukee and klein. Toughbuilt are the most attractive cleanest locking mechanism for sure.
The tool bag is really nice and works well as it stores plenty of items vertically in the pouches for easy reach and drill/driver in the larger side. As a handy homeowner, I don't have/need a packout stack and agree this bag does not add value on top of one with it tipping and not hiding things from sight for security reasons. The clips on the bottom, though, have been pretty handy to carry my packout vacuum or the smaller box I used "plastic foam" to make a custom socket-set case to double the shoulder strap's usefulness in carrying more hands free.
The biggest drawback to the packout is the wheeled box All their effort should have been put into solving the access to bottom box and collapsing the handle to fit under a tonneau cover Every other accessory is secondary.
I currently have festool systainers for on site work and was considering changing to packout but i think the systainers are more practical. How often can you wheel that whole packout system to your job? Stairs or steps even are a big problem. They dont even have top handles so you can carry the things 🤷♂️.
Good video Vince. The thing is I don't want crap hanging off the side of my Packout. The wider profile definitely makes more likely to scratch door trim. I just don't like it maybe it's me.
@@VCGConstruction @eletricianron Some look like they'd be perfect "While Working" but you put the stuff away before leaving for the day. Like the bin tray and the large tool holder.
Bro, I’m an electrical contractor from Long Island, New York yes, New York ( i see you with your Phillies stuff on lol LFGM!!). I gotta say man I love this channel. I’m a huge Milwaukee fan. I have a ton of Milwaukee tools and I have about 90 to 95% of the entire pack out system inside that pack system is 99% tools and hand tools I love the product. I’m big fan, yes they do have some issues. I do not like vans so I drive my Tahoe, but I have my Tahoe equipped with the entire pack out system. You cannot wait to see the lineup in January of this year. Hopefully the rolling bin with the drawer solves a lot of my issues. keep making your awesome videos. I love this channel bro.
For me as a service worker that exact same soft tote is just perfect. Got all the handtools, screwdriver and smack the small half size with screws and fixings on the shoulder and im good to go! Then the ladder and organizer in my hand to the customer. When done just smack them on my packout in the van and strap up and ready to leave.
I got the two wheeler kinda first to move things as a cart. I then configured around. Use the cart heavily and often overloaded. Gets thrown in the truck bed also. Has taken a licking and keeps on ticking.
Thanks for the video Vince. It would seem that these new attachments just make new problems. When you inevitably have to unstack it to get something out of a box odds are the accessories will touch the ground before the bottom of the box does. Same goes for the long tool attachment. If you want to take a box off you’ve gotta take out all the long tools. New stuff is always great, but these new products aren’t a silver bullet.
The Milwaukee dolly excells with the wall cabinet and 1-2 drawer units on top, capped off with a crate or organizers. Not with repurposed boxes from the old stack.
That's my exact setup, with a low profile small part organizer as the lid to my crate. Cabinet then 3 drawer, then 2 drawer, then crate, then low profile on top. Everything is one pull away. And my most used tools just have a regular tool bag I got from Makita part of their Impact/Hammer Drill kit. Easy to shoulder the bag and pull the Packout stack.
What about a front opening or a large slide out bin bottom box? You might lose space, but your big tools are accessible without unloading, lockable, and don't hang off the side so you can get through doorways. Might be a good spot to mount chargers and battery racks with the weight low. Jus' sayin'!
They sell black Milwaukee boxes and black bags in Europe, but we stuck with red. Bright red boxes in your truck, might as well put a sign on it that says, Expensive Tools, Steal Me!
it looks like some of those side storage attachments exceed the bottom of the packouts, so when you unstack, it would make them not sit evenly on the floor. are they adjustable so that the mounts could be at the very bottom of the attachment?
Biggest flaw in most modular systems is the need to unstack and stack constantly to reach inside your boxes. It wears thin if you have no space to lay out your boxes safely in jobs. For the amount of money these systems go for , I believe the base system should have been the pull out drawer now available. And to have the flip open boxes on the top.
That is cool if your going to be working in a big construction site but what about the ones that work on residential homes from experience and mods I done to my pack out the side mounting plates and storages are going to hit the doors frame
they need to make a cart stand the same height as the big bottom box that clips around so when you eventually do have to unstack you can just set them right over.
I've been mostly satisfied with the 3D printed aftermarket accessories I've purchased but i hate the lead times. I've had to wait a few weeks or even over a month so being able to get them in store or in a few days would be great. Btw I love my side rails from stack smarter
Honestly, I love my pack out. have the big two stack bottom box for all my big tools. The drill bit sets that fit the slim organizer are awesome, have a full slim organizer full of drills and bits at the ready for whatever I need. Most of the accessories here, I don't see the need for, but the battery one would be great to keep full batteries at the ready when I am working. Sure I'm like everyone hate to do the pack out restack, but I remember when I had to make 5 trips to the truck for all my tools, now load up my two stacks on the bottom box and all the tools and hardware I could need are right there with me. Glad I went with Milwaukee Pack out, it has been a great system. Wallet hurts from all the pieces I have bought, well over 2,000.00 now in pack out, but it keeps my tools organized and easy to transport. Which is a huge win for me. VINCE - Can you review the 15 Pack out structured bag next. It is 250.00 versus the 100.00 bag you had in the video ????
I use the 2 wheel hand truck all the time for moving lots of things due to it's long tongue that makes moving large boxes/containers lots easier to tip back without having to grab it with one hand and pull back while tilting the dolly. Most of the time, you don't need to do anything but tilt the dolly and the tongue does the rest without tilting the load forward. I'd buy another one just for that reason alone if I had zero Packout boxes.
Hello I love the packout system, the only thing I wish they would make would be the box dosen't matter what size with out any molded insert or accessories.
Different size drawer boxes would be most useful rather than all these accessories. You can only mount so many of these accessories to the sides of the boxes but to get in other boxes still need to take top boxes off to reach the lower ones. I'm mostly looking forward to the rolling base with the drawer coming out now only if they would make some of the other bigger boxes with a drawer option that would be great.
Absolutely. Drawers drawers drawers. They are the best solution by far for organizing a lot of tools with easy access without having an open-air grab bag.
I love the side plate and shelf I still just wish they would produce a single row version since most of there wall mount stuff makes more sense with single row
I already have this capability with my ridgid packout box. Part of the reason why I want to leave the Mikwaukee platform is because i feel like they're becoming more and more like snap on tools. every opportunity they get to upsell you on an additional add on they will. I remember when they used to be the most affordable bang for the buck and its no longer that, its become apart of the elite systems that you're paying top tier money. Glad Flex is an up and commer brand and I cannot wait to make the switch.
Hanging huge tools out on the sides still wouldn't solve the problem of getting into the bottom box, maybe slap some wheels onto a cabinet box and release at an affordable price might be a better solution, but whatever, I'm still and always will be a Milwaukee fanboy, no matter the competition.
Milwaukee has that coming out in January. I think the price is 250. It is more than the current rolling pack out box. But it doesn't make it easier to get your big tools.
I feel like some of this stuff.. can be 3d printed. The things to hold batteries, long rulers, etc.. should all be easily 3d printed. My primary complaint is having to take 2, 3 or more boxes off the top to get to the bottom. I think the bottom unit with drawers instead of lid makes FAR more sense for the bottom unit.
I feel like most of the external accessories are pretty meh. The whole point of a system like this is being able to put everything away and have it locked down so you can move it around, throw it in your van/truck, go up and down stairs, and never worry about dropping shit, banging shit around etc. Sure for really long items, there's not much they can do (though Klein came up with a much better system), but for hand tools? Anything open-top is a non-starter, you need to be able to close it all down. Drawers are the best, and they are FINALLY coming out with a rolling drawer, though once again Klein managed to do a better job with their version. Here's what I want to see: A Packout "shelf" - a module with the footprint of the metal-rail style boxes but essentially JUST the rails and the top/bottom. They could be just tall enough to fit the crate or two parts organizers inside of them and you could lock stuff in. This would allow you to better utilize the smaller organizer boxes without them getting in each other's way. The small boxes are awesome for holding smaller power tools along with accessories, and it's great to be able to grab a single box (say, your drill and bits) without taking the whole stack if you need to. But if you do take it all, accessing each item is a pain, and if you have too many half-width boxes the two narrow columns aren't great. My "shelf" idea would allow you to place any packouts that don't have the metal corners inside of a full-width module. You would naturally being adding a bit of extra height to the whole stack, but at a great gain in modularity. Better yet, what if the shelves were themselves modular? What if there was a bottom piece, a top piece, extruded corner sections, and middle pieces? The bottom piece would have feet on the bottom and cleats on top, plus receivers for the uprights. The top would receive the uprights and have cleats for stacking on top. Middle "shelves" would basically just be a board with cleats like the wall panels, and have holes at the corners that uprights pass through, plus a clamp mechanism to hold on. If they sold extruded corner pieces in arbitrarily long lengths, you could cut them to any size you like, put as many shelves as you want, and make it however.
Milwaukee needs to start innovating faster, especially get a retrofit to release the bottom plate on the dolly up at the top of the handle where it should’ve been from the get-go!
They still haven’t addressed the limitations of the wall brackets and the issues with staggering boxes and accessories. Makita figured it out but unfortunately I am to heavily invested in Packout to change.
Has anyone identified a solution for opening the bottom box with the stacks attached on top? The removable handle is one step but I still haven’t seen a way to unlatch the bottom box with the stack assembled
The two long tool attachments seem not well thought through because they can only be used for moving. You can’t use your Packout as a tool station once at your work area because if you need anything from the lower boxes you have to take everything apart, including taking off your long tools. Drawers solves both these problems. The whole system besides some organisers on top, need to be replaced with drawers.
Question: Why doesn't Milwaukee come out with a battery operated cooler? I mean they have all kinds of battery operated tools, so why not a cooler? You have people that use their spack out boxes for over landing now. It would be cool if Milwaukee would come out with a battery operated cooler.
I understand that they want to make money, but in all honesty, there were a lot of 3rd party guys out there already making tool carry attachments for the Packout. I don't think that Milwaukee was losing any market share due to not having a level holder made in-house.
Those side attachments seems stupid thought out. When you take off the box where it is attached to. Then how on earth is you going to but the box on a table with the side attachment still on?
Sorry but festool has always and will always have the best tool storage in the industry. Keep suckin that milwaukee teet though, I'm sure the free stuff is worth it.
I only have 1 experience with a "packout box" and it was a bad one. I am helpering for a raingutter company, I am their sole employee atm,, bossy took me to home depot before we went to go fly and bought a (milwaukee) bottom box with the wheels (stole a tray from another box to give us two, ruining both ours and some random one in the store, since one is enough and two is in the way, but none is a problem) and told me to check around 50lbs of tools and hardware into the box on a flight, AS WELL as the box itself must be 20lbs or more, and the weight limit was like , 50lbs. Then, the box was overweight, since all alone it's almost overweight on a plane and it also had tools in it, and on the first flight the handlers either dropped it or it fell from a belt or something and the axle bent. Most ... Useless ... thing ... ever. I could have hand-carried the stuff without a bag at all and had a better experience. Then, we had the box in the truck for a while, and it remained a complete waste of space. Even though it DID keep the rain off of things, it was such a mountain of effort to go into it I just couldn't see the value. For me, for all my years of helpering, a bag has been always good, never bad, and always lighter. The only time I saw a parts sorter go well was in the example where for a few months I worked for coffee machine servicepeople and they had their waterline plumbing fittings in a sorter box. Once .... I have met once a person who needed a heavy plastic box more than a bag, and it was not for tools. ..... I did work for carpenters one time in a hotel renovation where a wheels was helpful, but I just got a 20$ hdx storage box, a bit of scrapwood and some casters, and made myself a box-on-wheels and threw my bag on top,, and never needed more. ,,, and it was lighter than packout and honestly just as durable.
I have the dolly because I wanted a large box on the bottom that the space wasn’t taken up by the wheels and I like my separate dolly I use it for other things as well I’m an appliance service tech and installer so I can use it for your lighter built in appliances like dishwashers, microwaves and some wall ovens and cooktops.
It only makes sense to hang things on the bottom box and drawers. Otherwise, you have to remove the accessories to get in the boxes. Milwaukee’s bottom rolling drawer is also not as good as Klein’s. They better watch Klein.
The only system that works is festool properly thought out packout too fat too messy. Too moutch weight not easy going through doors less space in your vans
What market share did they loose haha. I’m journeyman sheet metal worker and I’ve not seen another mod system on a site since packout was released. It’s not perfect but most of us have red tools and so naturally we have red boxes
All those accessories are already beingt done by aftermakket 3D printing utubers and Millwakee Packout still needs a rolling Draws for the bottom box like Kline and Ridge have the packout are good and they started this type system but the competers are jumping ahead so we will see long term how it goes for them I know they are Hughes so they will survive but will they be no.1
I don’t know anybody that I work around that cares to switch brands from what they have. Whether that’s Battery tools or Modular boxes. Once you got enough money into a brand most of us just ride with them.

They're crazy at 44.99
Love these upgrades!!!💪🏽🚀
Right?! It's about time they did this.
it looks like some of those side storage attachments exceed the bottom of the packouts, so when you unstack, it would make them not sit evenly on the floor. are they adjustable so that the mounts could be at the very bottom of the attachment?
Get me a few boxes that open in front so I don't have to unstack the whole thing every time and I might be interested in this style of system.
Great video Vince. Stay free 🇺🇸
My man Frosty, you know it, hope you’re doing well my friend!
@@VCGConstruction Am just get by Vince . Hope everyone at VCG is doing well . Stay free 🇺🇸
About time. Those attachements are long overdue.
they need to make a cart stand the same height as the big bottom box that clips around so when you eventually do have to unstack you can just set them right over.
I've been mostly satisfied with the 3D printed aftermarket accessories I've purchased but i hate the lead times. I've had to wait a few weeks or even over a month so being able to get them in store or in a few days would be great. Btw I love my side rails from stack smarter
You are a great friend!
Thanks Kenneth, I appreciate that and you always being very kind!
Vince, thank for the video. I want milwaukee to moke a packout box like a full-size gun case.
Like the long trunk style?
@VCGConstruction I wish they made that but deeper for the price it's just to expensive
Excited for some of these to come to Australia
I love the side plate and shelf I still just wish they would produce a single row version since most of there wall mount stuff makes more sense with single row
Very informative!
Glad you found it helpful!
I don't know how packout goes but i wish my ridgid 2.0 base box was more narrow so i could get on and off busses more easily.
One of my best friends was a lineman for Conedison and only took the subway. Always talked about the hassle of getting tool “to and from”!
Good job brother.👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks Joseph, appreciate you!
@VF1Skullangel Flex is releasing their rolling drawer next month
Hanging huge tools out on the sides still wouldn't solve the problem of getting into the bottom box, maybe slap some wheels onto a cabinet box and release at an affordable price might be a better solution, but whatever, I'm still and always will be a Milwaukee fanboy, no matter the competition.
Milwaukee has that coming out in January. I think the price is 250. It is more than the current rolling pack out box. But it doesn't make it easier to get your big tools.
I see what you're saying. Man that new Makita hinge system solves the problem. Don't wanna run away from the red-606 now tho.
I think we all need the wheelbox as a cabinet. Any other upgrades are just nice to have but not necessary.
It seems like Toughbuilt already has all of these issues addressed except for battery storage. And it’s cheaper. It’s just not red lol
I’m waiting for the roller drawer! 😮
⏰
But if you attach accessories on the sides, and it looks like they hang pass the toolbox, how do you take off and leave the box on the side?
I use the dolly all the time it's held up nice for me
I feel like some of this stuff.. can be 3d printed. The things to hold batteries, long rulers, etc.. should all be easily 3d printed. My primary complaint is having to take 2, 3 or more boxes off the top to get to the bottom. I think the bottom unit with drawers instead of lid makes FAR more sense for the bottom unit.
Can you put different batteries in the battery holder, though? Like dewalt
Hahaha... of course not. You will have to go to Etsy for that.
Damn, now I have to figure out what to do with all my aftermarket accessories that already solved all those problems.
Keep using them and save your money.
Nice watch band, who makes that?
Kordiz
@@VCGConstruction Thanks!
Milwaukee should've make the bottom roller box like the front load opening cabinet box
Toughbuilt Techstack!!!!! The best out there right now
Yo cuz. BLAKE in Da HOUSE!
Klien Mod Box for the Win
Question: Why doesn't Milwaukee come out with a battery operated cooler? I mean they have all kinds of battery operated tools, so why not a cooler? You have people that use their spack out boxes for over landing now. It would be cool if Milwaukee would come out with a battery operated cooler.
I understand that they want to make money, but in all honesty, there were a lot of 3rd party guys out there already making tool carry attachments for the Packout. I don't think that Milwaukee was losing any market share due to not having a level holder made in-house.
VINCEEEEEEEEE - are we just gonna act like Home Depot isnt doing a BOGO deal on FORGED BATTERIES ??????? WE NEED A VIDEOOOOOO
Those side attachments seems stupid thought out. When you take off the box where it is attached to. Then how on earth is you going to but the box on a table with the side attachment still on?
I really only like the drawers. The whole thing would be better with drawers. The large box sucks
That bottom rolling box is the problem, should be drawers or front opening. Just too hard to access, ends up nearly empty
Go Vince!
Pet that Cat for me 😅
All these were available on Etsy for a long time, usually 3D printed.
Still waiting for a drawer wheeled box so I don’t need to take everything off the top to get into the bottom box
great job
Thanks!
RYOBI link is the winner!
Vince is getting swoll!
Shout out to the shop cat at the end of the video.
1:05 the drywall in the back tricked me I thought my screen was dirty tried cleaning it
the sad thing is we in germany have to wait even longer for the stuff ... i hope they will even release it in europe or we will have to import it.
Hmm... didn't recognize Vince at first, without the goggles.
What market share did they loose haha. I’m journeyman sheet metal worker and I’ve not seen another mod system on a site since packout was released. It’s not perfect but most of us have red tools and so naturally we have red boxes
All those accessories are already beingt done by aftermakket 3D printing utubers and Millwakee Packout still needs a rolling Draws for the bottom box like Kline and Ridge have the packout are good and they started this type system but the competers are jumping ahead so we will see long term how it goes for them I know they are Hughes so they will survive but will they be no.1
Too late switch to flex
why would you want all off your big expensive tools out in the open isn't that the whole point of having the stack?
Love them..
Looks like I’m buying more pakout stuff.
I don’t know anybody that I work around that cares to switch brands from what they have. Whether that’s Battery tools or Modular boxes. Once you got enough money into a brand most of us just ride with them.
just make the bottom a large slide out like people been asking for since it came out.......apparently its coming.
