But my question is WTF kind of crack was GM smoking when they approved this and have the nerve to charge more than a Aviator. First off its Wrong Wheel Drive and that's enough said right there. This is the first Lincoln in decades that totally bested a Caddy in every category. Its the only Lincoln I'd choose over a Caddy and I'm not even a crossover guy.

    • @mybro727
      @mybro727 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Derek Chisholm It actually shows their efforts are in the right place. Cadillac should definitely be attempting to differentiate it’s exteriors from their standard brands in any and all ways. No Cadillac should share the same “3.6” badge as a Chevrolet Impala. I think the newton meters badging looks really good on the back of these new Cadillacs and it adds a bit of class to the brand. I love it!

    You guys at MotorWeek should really be getting more views and credit for your style. A lot of other outlets will find one thing about a car to rip into and plaster that all over their review for extra clicks, or allow it to influence their judgement of everything else, but you guys always make sure to credit the positives of every car. It keeps the perspective that, though some vehicles are better value than others, new vehicles keep getting better.

      @mybro727 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eric Jr this is not true for the simple fact you can’t even tell this and the Traverse are made by the same company. It looks nothing like it, feels nothing like it, and is worlds more comfortable and luxurious.

    • @EricFortuneJr.
      @EricFortuneJr. 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      mybro727 If you spec it out you’ll pay $74,000 for the same 311 hp V6 and powertrain that’s offered across most of GM's model line. It’s already been noted that they use much of the same plasticky switchgear as they do in the their other models. For over $70k I’d expect more. It’s not a horrible car, it’s just a bit overpriced for what you’re getting, especially considering their somewhat poor resale value.

    • @mybro727
      @mybro727 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eric Jr There isn’t a competitor to the Cadillac XT6 in existence that doesn’t share the same fate in resale value.
      Secondly, if you think Cadillac is the only company that shares power trains between their standard and luxury brands you’re sadly mistaken. Ford, Nissan, Honda, Toyota, etc. all do this. I’m not sure why it’s such foul play when GM does it especially when it’s as great an engine as their cooperate 3.6L V6. It’s tuned differently in the XT6 and drives great. You’re simply comparing Chevrolet to Cadillac on paper, you would have to actually drive the Traverse and XT6 to understand the premium. There’s a difference.
      What switchgear? If there is any they share it’s minimalistic. I don’t see the electronic gear shifter featured here inside the Chevrolet Traverse. The Traverse doesn’t get a single power sliding panoramic moonroof standard like the Cadillac either. The key fob for the XT6 is the first impression and looks nothing like the Chevrolet’s or Buick’s. It’s clear the Cadillac is the premium variant there to. The materials used in the XT6 are all a notch above that of Chevrolet so i honesty can’t say i agree.

    • @EricFortuneJr.
      @EricFortuneJr. 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      mybro727 Yep but those competitors also offer more power. Aviator offers nearly 500 horsepower in it’s top trim and 400 horsepower in the lower trim. Acura and Lexus both have for better resale value than Cadillac and Lincoln. I just don’t see anything special about this particular model that justify a $75,000 tag even in top trim.

    Have always loved Motorweek, but dang, you were way too easy on GM for this bland product. I have been buying GM vehicles since I was 17. Most recently I have had 3 Yukon Denali’s, Cadillac CTS-V coupe, and 2 Enclaves. I was so looking forward to trading in the last Enclave for what I “heard” was going to be a stylish 3 row crossover from Cadillac. Then the Detroit reveal and I was like.... what the heck!!! This thing is just an Acadia with a new front end. What a let down. The Lincoln Aviator absolutely blows this away. I had $3000 in GM rebate on my GM credit card and didn’t get to use it because GM dropped the ball with this underwhelming product. Ended up buying an Audi Q8. So disappointed in whoever green lighted this vehicle. Shame on you GM. You can do better. Well, you did...the new Escalade looks awesome, but now I don’t need a new vehicle for awhile.

    As much as I respect GM and remain loyal to the corporation for putting food on my family's table for a couple generations, I have to admit that this is pathetic. The only good thing I can say is that it's "fairly" nice-looking from the outside (not a head-turner like the Lincoln Aviator though). I see quite a few generic/cheap-looking interior bits and the corporate 3.6L V6 being the standard and ONLY engine offered shows how unenthusiastic GM was when designing this. Old habits die hard apparently. This is disgraceful overall, should have been the new 2010 Cadillac SRX, not a 2020 model.

I'll keep my older Caddys. Hopefully the T1 platform Escalade will bring some respect back to the brand. Some people need to be fired. The Art & Science theme was successful to the brand now this cookie cutter designs they're doing now are WEAK! Looks like every other Hyundai/Nissan/Audi out there. The outgoing models had their own uniqueness to them and were unmistakably Cadillac. I'll keep my old ones til I can afford a 16' CTS-V.
