    Wow ! You are making a boat man ! that is awesome ;) you must be at it days and nights. I wanted to see your starting video but couldn't find it. When/where did you start ? What about cost ? any video about it ?

      Thanks. I started in February. But I bought the boat in December, as a half finished project. Getting into it for real now and hoping to get in the water soon. More videos coming up, you'll find them all on the channel.
      Thanks again

    Great change to the cockpit! Look s amazing! The changes added soooo much to the new space! Great work.. Need to introduce your helper better! We need to know who she is?

      Thanks 😂 I have thought the same... We are a little bit camera shy still, but I am planning an episode that will be more background than building...
      The central steering really destroyed the cockpit. Very poor use of space. I think dual helms would have taken less space. But I am happy with just the one. I've moored much bigger ships with less visibility, so it should be fine.
      Thanks again

    All your changes to the cockpit look great - it will make the Cat look much more modern, and more comfortable and functional at anchor.

      Thanks! This is what I'm aiming for. No matter how much you love sailing, most of the time on the boat you will be at anchor, enjoying the company of friends and boat neighbors and in my case, going diving. The boat will be a fantastic sailing machine, but you have to compromise with every design decision I hope I am getting the balance right. If not, I'll have to chop some more fiberglass 😂
      Thanks for your comment, really appreciate it.

    lot of work.... are you sure that you want to remove the top cover? that is good protection from the sun and rain... which material are you going to use for the windows? keep going!

    • @buildingwilda
      @buildingwilda  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The top is coming down. To the salon top level. I'm not removing it. I want the top down so I can lower the boom. This allows me to carry more sail, lower cg on a shorter mast.
      And, perhaps most importantly, I really don't like the look of the top as is.

      Windows will be acrylic... Perhaps polycarbonate in the salon bulkhead. For increased clarity and perhaps I can diy the flat windows.

    steering seems to low will you be able to see over the roof i love my center steering it evens me out when docking and maneuvering in tight spaces

    • @buildingwilda
      @buildingwilda  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is a bit low compared to the center steering. I'll be able to see everything I need to see though.
      I'm used to not seeing much more from my work as chief officer on ships and I think I got a good compromise. Most design choices are compromises. At the cost of some visibility I get a much better cockpit for those days at anchor that are coming up.

      @@1detroitryder no offense taken. And you are not wrong. It is low. Sorry, didn't mean to sound offended. Not at all.
      I'm new to sailing, new to boat building and learning every day. I try to take all sorts of information, ideas and comments and make the best of it.
      I really appreciate the comments. All of them. So far I think I have only received one comment that was in no way constructive or meant to be helpful.
      Thanks, I hope it works out the way I think it will. If not, I'll have to chop up some more fiberglass 😂
