- Skoda Slavia 1.0 TSI MT long term test review update after driving it for over 10,000km in Tamil Nadu to destinations like Kodaikanal. The Slavia has performed very well and has held up quite nicely over this period. It is a car that wins you over with its design, ground clearance, performance and refinement.

Super ji and thank for your effort ❤❤ very thankful for testing this machine in our soil..
Thank you!
An excellent analysis and review , concise and precise , 🎉, thanks for the efforts
Thank you!
Thank you 😊 sir for the honesty review 🤝
Glad you liked it!
18k kms in 8 months on my 1ltr slavia... i do miss the 1.5ltr.. but this in itself is an amazing car.. really enjoying it... its scary how easily u can reach scary triple digit speeds and the sheer joy in the handling
Yes, it truly is a car that impresses in every department!
Excellent review. I've booked the base model. I used to own an Ameo Diesel which bled money in repairs and maintenance. Hoping the slavia won't go the same way. Any engine, suspension or braking issues I should look out for?
We didn’t face any issues with the engine or braking. Haven’t heard any complaints either
@@MotorScribes thank you
Hi motorscribe , though the cars are from different type altogether but what car would you personally pick between the SLAVIA/VIRTUS and CRETA/SELTOS??
I am specifically asking between the vw sedans and Korean suvs
To answer the Creta / Seltos one first, we would choose the Creta..because in 2020 we had to make that exact decision and bought a Creta 😁. Prime reason being the design and it just felt ‘better’
@@MotorScribes I’m asking what car would you pic between these four!!
And creta is not anymore a safe highway runner now ?
@@shivrajjaiswal3869 It really depends. Firstly do you want a sedan or an SUV? The requirement is quite different. If I had to choose, I’d go for the Virtus as the sedan of choice because I like how it looks (the Slavia is also equally good and a lot of people pick that…but since they are pretty much the same car, you can’t go wrong!) If I was looking for an SUV, then the choice would be the Creta. As for it being a safe vehicle, the top model is very safe. GNCAP does their ranking on base models and their testing norms are not ideal for Indian conditions anyway.
@@MotorScribes Ohk thx for replying
Whats the status of the air con of slavia nowadays? Its known to be very bad ...but the update in feb 2023 seems to have improved the performance slightly....have you tried testing the ac in peak summers during long road trips ???
Hi, thank you for the idea! We will definitely do a story around AC performance
@@MotorScribes have you done the story on AC performance , please share link if so
Proud happy owner ofr Slavia Style 1.0 MT
Does the base model have ventilated seats?
Nope. The base version doesn’t get ventilated seats
How much is mileage in city?
Anywhere between 12.5-14 depending on the City :)
I bought Ambition manual considering it as vfm variant...but now I regret little because most people are buying style and it looks little more premium compared to ambition
Great car to keep
A very capable machine!
Does it feel sluggish with 5 on board & luggage on a steep incline.. or do you have to switch off the AC to ease things.. kindly reply
Nothing like that would be required. I have the same 1.0 MT in rapid. Both are more or less same kerb weight. Not a problem at all. It has high torque in the 1st gear. There is certain turbo lag, but post that it just screams. 1.0 engine is such a powerful engine. Dont forget the 178 bm of torque.
It isn’t sluggish at all. Full load + passengers and it still moves quite quick!
I test drove 1.0 manual and 1.5 DSG. Felt 1.0 is more ready to go, 1.5 so much of turbo lag in automatic ( gotta use paddle shifters) for quick overtake
Overall i felt 1.5 had too much power to be delivered but all in vain as the time you reach 120, engine becomes too vocal
So I’m confused
Should i try 1.5 manual, will that be better than dsg or its just that powertrain’s issue?
Is 1.0 torque converter gives a better feel than manual 1.0?
I think the 1.0 is good enough! The manual is a lot of fun, but if you need the convenience of an automatic then the 6-speed auto is good!
Do you feel that the gear shift is hard, doesn't engage properly sometimes and get stuck especially 1st and 4th
Not faced that problem at all.
What speed have you achieved at most ? Is it stable at high speeds of like 120-130...does it achieve 120-130 with 2-3 people on board ?
We have gone up to 140-150 on certain stretches (like near Tuticorin) with no traffic. It is extremely stable!
Hi, I am looking to buy sedan, which one should be best option, is it city facelift, slavia, virtus?
Both are capable cars. Slavia's ground clearance is a definite advantage to have. Looks wise Slavia wins. Beautiful and highly capable car.
Depends on your need:
Sedated driving, soft suspension, good mileage in slow traffic, ok with belly scrapping, go with City.
Enjoy driving at medium and high speed, sorted suspension, good mileage at speed more than 40kmph, 5* rating, ok with little lag at low speed, go with Virtus.
Need all of Virtus and better handling, little stiff suspension, 8inch infotainment system, go for salvia.
Don’t forget, the New Hyundai Verna is launching on 21st March and that could be a game changer in terms of features and performance! But to be brutally honest, all these cars are great. Each one is an excellent choice and the purchase decision boils down to brand and your personal requirement. A lot of people put Honda’s reliability as their main reason for it being their choice. A lot of young buyers like the Slavia because of its looks and 1.5 TSI engine and aren’t too worried about mileage, so it really depends on who you feel you trust and what you want!
I own slavia style 1.0
Got my slavia updated with the latest AC fix by software update
Post that my mileage has dipped considerably 😢
And pick up from from 2nd to 3rd feels sluggish not like before
Have some tuning also being done to engine ?
Im not Alone as few members complained the same in FB
Very proud owne
This is an interesting insight. We will try and find out more and answer your query.
When I come to think about it, I'm also getting lower FE on my runs after the update. I've crossed 22 on free roads but now it gives around 16. And that too with AC playing no part in both cases since I usually am keeping it off nowadays due to cool weather.
Mileage??
Mileage is anywhere between 17-20 on highway and 13-15 in city drive cycles.
Could you please share your current thoughts on Slavia?
The Slavia continues to be a great choice if you are looking for a sedan. For me, the highlights include the sheer amount of space, TSI engines are brilliant and it is a seriously fun-to-drive machine! Small niggles include a bit of rattle at idle in the 1.0 TSI…but by far the BEST thing about it is safety. I was in an unfortunate accident. The vehicle was parked on the side of the road and a biker came flying into the back. My mother was in the back seat and she came out without a scratch. The crash zone did its thing and soaked in the impact. The biker- a young fellow with no helmet and in chappals also survived purely because the vehicle soaked in that impact. Yes, I was bummed, but also thankful for such a vehicle that kept my mom and me safe.
What's the mileage on tank to tank method with normal petrol? Especially note the average speed, ac settings and traffic... My exp 8kmpl for bumper traffic and 14.5 for Avg speed 30-40kmph in Kochi city and at highway in Kerala I couldn't raise my average speed above 50-60kmph and so max I could see on cluster was 17kmpl. City normal driving I see only 12kmpl even though I pray for 15kmpl without a block... Wonder if my driving habit causing it.. :O all with AC ON.
Hi, we haven’t tried the tank to tank method with the car, however the figures you are getting sound about right. City driving has a lot to do with the conditions…traffic, heat, how many signals you deal with and your drive cycle that goes beyond the routine route…so it varies a lot! 14.5 in Kochi City is excellent!
@@MotorScribes I would say 12 unless I drove early morning or late evening to get 14kmpl haha
I test drove both 1.0 and 1.5 Slavia, I still feel the initial torque isn't as peppy as it should be, probably because of the turbo lag.. weirdly my 2010 i10 feels more peppy.. am I missing something?
There is a hint of lag in the 1.0 but nothing that hampers overall driving. I’ve driven the long termer from pune to Kodaikanal and now am touring kerala with it… no trouble with the peppyness at all!
Can someone mention what's the on road price of style 1.0 mt varient ?
Which city/state. On road price varies across the country
You mentioned wireless apple car play, but skoda does not offer wireless apple and android. its wired only.. isnt it?
So, the confusion is understandable and partly my fault as well. The Slavia came with a 10.1 inch infotainment system that had wireless connectivity, however due to the chip shortage the infotainment system is now an 8-inch unit that doesn’t offer it. The car I have is the one with the 10.1 inch screen. I should have been more clear on that, for which I apologise.
@@MotorScribes thanks for that clarification
What is the real world mileage of this .
I am from palakkad and i get open plan roads most often avaerage speed of 35 -40 kmph comsidering some traffic.
I ususlly dont drive more than 90 kmph
In Kerala I was getting close to 15 kmpl with the 1.0 TSI version. Did a three day road trip through Kerala and that was my average
I've booked slavia 1.0 tsi MT, Is it worth buying
You will find it to be quite an engaging car to drive!
If you had to choose between these manuals
1. Slavia 1.0 style
2. Slavia 1:5 ambition
Which one would you choose ?
Let go of the top end features for more power or vice versa
Good question! For me it would depend on my driving needs. Do I want more of an all rounder or something that is extremely engaging to drive? If it’s the all rounder go for the 1.0L version. It has a decent amount of pep and you get all the right features.
@@MotorScribes thank you , been struggling with this dilemma for a while now. I’d be willing to let go of the top end features for the power as I currently drive a 2012 i20 Asta , it does not even have a screen. So any features will blow my mind away
What about the interior noises?
At idle there is a bit of engine noise but overall the NVH is quite good. Nothing that bothered us over the last 6 months!
Virtus looks more sharper and sexier than slavia. And slavias interiors, music system with woofer is more premium than virtus. I don't understand why vw virtus is not offering a manual 1.5 . I want a car with virtus exteriors and slavias interiors. Anyone like me?🤔 meanwhile Hyundai continuously teasing next gen verna. Never seen this much hype from Hyundai before.
slavia stopped giving woofer and amplifier. Also 8 inch Infotainment doesnot have wireless apple carplay/ android auto. Virtus makes more sense now
Ill be really honest about it, my friend bought the style non-sunroof 1 litre model around 6 months back, completed 10,000 kms and he is been complaining about rattling noise from dashboard and front doors, even when you up the volume a bit the doors rattle. He thinks that the build quality couldve been slightly better, there are definitely rooms for improvement
Your honesty is appreciated. So far we have heard that there is a bit of vibration in the 1.0L because of the 3-pot engine…but that is mainly when idling. If your friend is facing this problem while on the move, then it is a build quality issue.
Dude he definitely said rattling noise not in engine noise@@MotorScribes
@@mayur5021 Yes, that is what I was explaining - if he is hearing a rattle in the door, it is most likely an issue with the build - a panel is loose, or something shaking inside. The engine info was to explain what causes this panel/ bit / loose part to shake…
I too have the driver door rattle issue which I will address at first service cause it only rattles at bigger bumbs not every time. I think the original door quality of rapid is not seen in slavia. Its not the same feel.
Which one is better, kushaq or slavia ?
Good question! Both are great machines. As far as which one is better for you, that entirely depends on what you are looking for - SUV or Sedan. Either way, you won’t go wrong!
@MOTORSCRIBES
Thanks for responding quickly. At present I am having city,I personally like SUV but my daughter and wife says only sedan suits to yr personality!
@@suketushah5754 😃 I can relate! Family always has a big say in vehicle purchase. If you go for Slavia, you won’t regret it. The best part is that it has amazing ground clearance…so it is good for our roads.
@@MotorScribes Thanks a lot.
Today I have taken test drive of both Honda city new and skoda slavia. Really impressed with look of fresh blue city and slavia both. Now I am confused. I felt same driving pleasure in both. City top variant vs Slavia Style variant.
Which one is better?
Any EPC error ???
We haven’t had any. Neither have we received any complaints on this. Are you facing anything?
@@MotorScribes i going to purchase salvia but because of the epc problem lot of customer have got the problem of car break down. Problem has gone so much viral on internet that is why I asked you. Thanks for your response.
The EPC issue was there with the Kushaq and finally a recall was done to replace the faulty fuel pump. The Slavia gets the new pump as well now. All the complaints were early 2022 when some older fuel pumps were still being used…in more recent times the EPC issue seems to be resolved. Also please note the EPC issue was there with only the 1.0 L engine and not with the 1.5 L engine.
@@MotorScribes took slavia today thanks
did u notice any error bro
Thanks to poor Indian govt for imposing heavy taxes on cars so that Indians always fee deprived of luxury cars and but low quality cars.
Yes, govt taxes are on the higher side, but we are still not as expensive as some other countries! Plus the taxes are broken into slabs…no doubt, we all wish things could be a little cheaper, but I guess we have to live with what we get 😉
