In my defense, I wanted to see Fantastic Mr. Fox so badly but the theaters where it was playing were very far away and I couldn't drive yet. So yes, I did go see Alvin because it was the only movie playing in the theater in my hometown, but that doesn't mean I liked it. Mr. Fox did not play my theater's hometown.
I actually practice stop motion. I don't have a big budget for it, so most of the puppets are made cheaply, but aesthetically pleasing. So I love seeing how people in these movies made the puppets and such.
This was a nice series of look backs. I'm majoring in animation, so I found it nice to learn more about stop motion. I also enjoyed the Don Bluth series, since I really didn't know much about him and his movies. I took a look at Mary & Max, and I personally really like how realistic and complex it is. I'm just curious as to why you didn't go over Rankin Bass, though. I was hoping to learn more about that studio as well.

The box office failure of Kubo and the Two Strings demonstrates that stop motion films have no future. Also, the fact that Isle of Dogs is only did well in its limited release suggests that there is no hope for stop motion.

I'm going to have to be honest, all I have seen of ParaNorman is ten clips of important scenes. I cannot say I have seen the entire movie. Therefore I will have to tell my opinion one clip at a time. 1. Norman Talks to the Dead. At first, things were looking pretty cute. Norman looked adorable talking to multiple ghosts, and that scene was creative with all the ghosts there could be. But once Norman got to school, it immediately looked as though everyone despised him. This was whiplash of the worst kind. 2. Neil and the Ghost Dog. This clip was better than the first. It showed that Norman is capable of compassion. He called in a ghost dog specifically for Neil to play with (so to speak). Although I was troubled by Neil kissing the dog's "captain's quarters", I cannot deny that this was a heartwarming scene indeed. 3. The Haunted Toilet. This was disgusting! I get that the movie needed an introduction to the danger of the zombies, but did it really have to take place in a bathroom? And did the ghost have to come out of a toilet of all places?And the toilet paper zombies? I felt dirty watching this sequence! 4. The Zombies Awaken. I have decided that I do not like Alvin. All I see in Alvin is a selfish bully. But I will say that this scene works as a start for the action in the movie. 5. Picking Up Norman. I felt relieved to see Norman's sister showing compassion for Norman. At first I thought Mitch was just taking Courtney to a High School party. But once they started talking about Norman, it was a major relief. I will also say the way Mitch reacted to the zombie was amusing.

ParaNorman is and likely always will be, not only my favorite animated movie of all time, but my favorite film period. Aside from being amazingly animated, it still gives me that same awe 6 years later. I am forever enthralled by the depth and darkness the story took, and how pitch perfect its humor and characters' dynamics are. I'll say what I've been saying since 2013, ParaNorman was fucking ROBBED by not getting the Oscar for Best Animated Feature. It overshadows Brave in every regard and I am never letting that go.

The main problem with Paranorman is that the atmosphere of the film is a bit of an squired taste, although it had plenty of heart and all the characters were likable, flawed as they were. Personally I liked it, but not as much as Coraline, which is probably one of my absolute favourite animated films.
