    None of the purps below are full!
    It's because when he Kay's the brick he pushes the brick down against the purp. Which always leaves a 10/15mm you have to fill at the top of the purp.
    Rather then pushing it vertical against the laid brick and generating a full purp

    Out of respect for the other Bricklayer at other end of the line,I would prefer to butter the Brick first then lay to the line, this will have minimal disruption to the line, his spread is excellent as you would expect, very clean and tidy. That looks also like a 12 inch trowel, too much strain maybe on the wrist = problems later on when near retirement, old Arthritis will kick in.

    • @harveysmith100
      @harveysmith100 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is the voice of experience!!
      What is it with all these shovels cut to the shape of trowels? It doesn't make anyone any quicker, the fastest guy I ever worked with had a 10" trowel that had been worn down to 8". No one could keep up with him.
      Your dead right about Arthritis.
      We do love a banjo player!

    Clean tidy work,slight criticism is the back of his purps are not quite full with they way he butters them up.

    My two cents is he should focus on using the tip of the trowel, instead of so far back. Cleaner, and more control. Itd probably cut down on a lot of the line twanging too.

    Noticed that you never showed him putting the last brick in against the jam. May be something to do with he was 40mm back on his perps and he had to jig all the bricks in that course

      @@jamietalbot7254 those bricks are a pain in the grass, some 210mm some 215mm as we are used to and some are 220mm. Mix that with a man going at price speed and you do end up nipping up bricks. Nobody pays you to measure, brick hammer, lay ,point and brush on a price. Just saying.

    Yes not bad at all, but like others comments I was always taught to butter the brick [58 ex bricklayer] seems the young guys like this method and they don't seem too concerned with back of the wall either, clean cavity and full joints for me even if slows you down a bit. Good bricky though

    Very tidy. I would not like him twanging the line but on his own, very good. Nice bed, no flicks because the bed is laid to the right amount. As far as filled cross joints, the next bed fills them. Half the bricks laid now are cellular of have such massive frogs that any talk of missing the rear cross joint is just a way of saying I’m better than you’.
    Btw.. a perpendicular joint is a measured joint underneath a window or opening, a change of bond , cuts within the length of a wall. The normal joint is a cross joint. So many are critical of this man but it actually shows up their own lack of knowledge or their laziness.
    He was clean tidy quick and cleaned the cavity.
    I would do it differently but there was nothing wrong with him except for the twang (for two blokes)
