Miss Jones was so beloved by the crew of 'The Addams Family' that when the show was canceled (and the set was due to be struck down with its contents scattered to the wind/destroyed), the crew knowing they were risking their own future employment in the industry connived to spare Morticia's iconic rattan living room chair from obscurity/destruction and GIFTED it to Miss Jones. Miss Jones was SO touched by this, that (despite all the sometimes chaotic relocations she'd have in the future) she honored that by having that chair in her own bedroom the rest of her life!
Hers was the most iconic portrayal of Morticia Addams. We loved her chemistry with John Astin, and even though that show lasted a mere two years, it will go on forever. RIP Carolyn Jones.
If you saw other shares there was huge problems behind the set , long hours . Like the Wizard of Oz if you check the extras of their 75th anniversary dvd set
The Addams family was wonderful, funny, and bizarre. But Morticia? She was impeccable. Jones acting defined the potential for greatness, and Carolyn was that.
I allow various wildflowers to grow in my back yard to provide nectar for all the busy little pollinators that visit. There are always some very healthy Scottish thistles. I try to keep them pruned down to chest height. Then, since I don't want them to go to seed and spread into neighboring yards with their monograss and potted geraniums, I will be out there every day for weeks, working among the spiky thorns to clip off the flowers one by one as their purple petals dry and turn brown. It always reminds me of Mrs. Addams -- which is kind of nice, because the Addamses were my favorite television family.
Never knew she was once married to Aaron Spelling for almost a decade... she died too soon at 53. The role of Morticia in The Addams Family will always be what she's best remembered for. Thanks for sharing her story. RIP Carolyn. 😢❤
I became friends with Carolyn the last two years of her life- she was a wonderful friend! She told me stories about Elvis and some of her directors that were fascinating!! I still think of her, after all these decades!
I don't know why people are doubting this. Ever heard of the 6th degree of separation? Apparently, it's now considered the 4th degree since the invention Facebook and other such sites.
I loved the fact they were obviously madly in love with each other. The Addams Family was actually a very functional family, loving, respectful- Pugsley called Gomez, “Father”- and they treated Lurch as one of them, never a servant.
I am 71 years old too and I agree with you. I never met anyone who did not like the affection between Gomez and Morticia. I thought it was charming and added to the loving atmosphere of the Adam's Family.
@naturalobserver1322 I've not heard of this controversy either. But it was not long after The Addams Family that Star Trek aired an episode in which Captain Kirk and Uhura kissed, albeit forced to do so by nasty aliens. She was a beautiful woman with grit and determination. A natural talent that never got the starring movie role she deserved. She would have been superb in From Here To Eternity .... but alas, that was not meant to be. I applaud her living her life, despite the cancer and the horrible pain, all the way to the brim ....she never once felt sorry for herself for the hand she was dealt. She could teach us all a lesson in how to live, and live well.
I have always loved Carolyn Jones! I related to her bouts with asthma and pneumonia, as the same things interfered with my higher education several times. I thought that on screen and off, she was elegant, and kind. She remains one of my favorite actors!
What I found ridiculous is those viewers with conservative upbringings objecting to their over-the-top displays of affection, when the whole show was written to be hilariously over-the-top!
@@stevie-ray2020Yeah I had that upbringing but always saw the affection as positive. I don't know ANY conservatives who objected to it. Hard to believe really...I would think those down on heterosexual marragw would be the ones objecting.
And the actors (and actress) who played the kids in the Addams family (Wednesday and Pugsly) said she felt like a real mother to them . Apparently the kids were so happy because they were like a real family even when the camera wasnt rolling. The actor who played the uncle was a child star whos parents used and abused him and he was extremely protective of the kids and demanded they take breaks for them and made sure they kept up with private tutoring. And when the camera wasnt rolling they would all play board games with them. The kids were extremely upset when it was cancelled as well.
I loved the Adam's Family and got first place for being Morticia in my third grade Halloween contest. I was slender with long hair and wore a tight black dress with filmy pointy black things around the sleeves and hem. My only claim to fame!
I loved her in Addams Family; but I think my favorite role she played was as the mother of Wonder Woman. This was the 70's, when Lynda Carter played the role of Wonder Woman.
Thank you for this informative video. I didn't know any of the cast before Addams Family came out in 1964, except for seeing John Astin in a previous tv comedy series, "I'm Dickens, He's Fenster." I was 16 when AF premiered. I still love the too-brief series, and I watch my DVD collection over and over. Wow! 60 years ago, nearly. It was creative right up to the end, acting and writing. Only 2 seasons. Sad. Gomez was passionate for Morticia, in a demonstrative, sometimes silly way, but there was no kissing on the lips, unlike other shows of that era and before.
She was a truly stunning woman and it's so sad that she had this cancer. My mother had Ovarian cancer and was only diagnosed when she swelled up just before death.
I always really loved Carolyn! It's wonderful that these films & TV shows can still be found today. She was such a treasure. Makes me sad to think she had been suffering. Now, she lives through these amazing movies & TV shows she made and remains in our memories. ~ Morticia was my favorite character of hers.
Wow! I was one of those 7 yr olds who was introduced to The Addams Family & The Munsters in 1964 & was immediately hooked! While Lillian Munster was the quintessential mom, Morticia Addams was an enigma! She was so different than any woman I had ever seen and a little unsettling to me. She didn’t walk…she glided through her scenes. She was utterly mesmerizing! It’s heartbreaking to hear her story, and I hope she knows how impactful those 2 seasons of The Addams Family have been in our culture. Now when I see her Morticia, I understand why I was so entranced by her; she was an enigma in my world. She was a complete dichotomy? She lived and breathed class and refinement, while emanating sexuality and mystery! And those eyes! A perfect combination of beauty and brains! I don’t think another actress has ever affected me like Carolyn Jones did in that role!
You all might think I’m a little strange but I was born a bastard. The true meaning of the word is without a father. I had stepfathers. My grandfather was my dad figure in my life. My mother was never home. I grew up watching Carolyn Jones and John Astin and Lisa Loring in the Addams family. And I wanted to have a family like that. Even the Munsters had more family values than my own. My grandfather died and our family and all we stood for, died too that day. By the Brady Bunch aired I had a stepfather who was so abusive that 4 children were running away from home. Yeah I never had the love of a truly caring mom or dad
@kenny Smith.... Did you watch Bonanza too. That might've provided a bit of comfort to see how a family was. My life dissolved as soon as I turned 12 and it hadn't been much beforehand. Heinous things happened in mine too. Glad you had your grandad for a while. I never had grandparents.
The Addams Family was an Hilarious comedy 😂, to this day I still laugh at such a well written program, great Ensemble Casting of Actors, Carolyn Jones was so amazing as the Gothic Morticia (perfect name choice for her character) she was played this role to the HILT, the same applies to the supporting cast😁.
Carolyn Jones also starred in the Frank Sinatra movie "Hole In The Head". She played his crazy girlfriend and looked different from the typical blonde actresses. I was fascinated with her short black pixie hairdo and strikingly beautiful eyes and face.
I have been watching her films occasionally when TCM, and she definitely didn't receive the accolades she deserved and still deserves. I didn't know what caused her demise 😢
Excellent narration, you told Caroline’s story without mistakes or anything else to draw my attention away of it. 👏 What a sad story, I’m glad she was finally able to return to acting though, and found someone to love as well.
She was stunningly beautiful and I wanted to look exactly like her as a child. Alas, I was a boring blond but tried to dye my hair black as an older teen, something that didn’t work out too well. 😂 I thought she was a wonderful actress and am so sad that she died while not fulfilling her dream of total stardom. 😭 Rip gorgeous lady. 💔💔💔
We appreciated her acting in The Addams Family, House of Wax [with the great Vincent Price], and all her other movies. She always looked classy, beautiful, and completely in character. We pray she has a special place in heaven for such wonderful talent.
She was also in an episode Kolchak: The Night Stalker from 1975. CJ played the registar in the episode "Demon In Lace". As soon as I saw CJ's beautiful eyes, I knew it was her before hearing her voice.
I wish she had gotten the big screen success/Academy Award that she wanted and deserved. I do applaud her for opting not to have children, when she knew acting was her true calling. Sadly, so many women of her generation felt it was their duty to have children and to put career aspirations away.
I watched the Adam's Family when I was a kid. I never knew that Miss Jones had played in other acting roles. Thanks for the informative video. She was a talented actress. I had no idea that she suffered this much.
Gosh I was just 18 years old, when the Addams family came on Tv . I use to watch it with one of my beloved aunties ( long gone now of course) one year I can’t forget as I also met my future husband that year two . Sadly he passed away in 2021 . Sad thing I never knew that she had died untill watching this video . Still happy memories of long ago .. ❤
Thank you for whisking me back to my childhood . The Adams Family was on my grandparent's tiny black and white tv . Just subscribed ...while I'm still alive ?❤
At that time, TV series had 18-22+ episodes per season. I too grew up watching The Addams Family, and in a rush to grow up, two years seemed to be an eternity back then to most pre-teens. I thought it was on TV for more seasons too.
Awwe, I always loved Carolyn as Morticia in the Adams Family. She had a pixie hairstyle and face with her big blue eyes 👀 it's so sad that she suffered from cancer while filming. May she rest in peace 🙏 🪦❤
Maybe it was the algorithm that brought this video up into my feed because I've been watching The Addams Family for the last couple of weeks I never got to see it when it was out on reruns when I was growing up because we weren't allowed to watch a lot of Television so I've been spending my Twilight years so to speak catching up on all the things that I missed out on and I've always liked her as an actress and this has shed more light on her than I had ever heard from any other source and it was just fantastic. I'm shocked how young she was.! I actually had imagined that she lived much longer then just to her fifties and hearing about it now is actually kind of upsetting. I had no idea she was married to Aaron spelling. I'm actually still kind of at a loss for words as I just finished watching it. Thanks for creating this little infomercial because it's things that I've always wondered about different celebrities but have not really found until recently on these type of videos
She was a very nice person from what I had heard. I have watched some of old movies that she was in, and she was a great actress. I loved her role in the Addams family, but some of her parts in the older movies have shown the depth of talent.
This was such a sad story for a brilliant actress. Carolyn Jones was the best Morticia in "The Adam's Family!" Could not believe that the show was only on for 2 years. Her acting was empectable, and her talent will never be forgotten! R.I.P. Carolyn 🙏🕊💐🕊🙏🎭

I do NOT remember Carolyn's and John Astin's relationship "outraging" conservative audiences.....we loved the whole show.
The MAGA weirdos today would find a reason to moan I’m quite sure.
I’m conservative but don’t remember hearing anything about that. Didn’t even know they had a relationship.
They’re talking about the onscreen PDA.
@@lorimontgomery3527 oh okay. Never heard any complaints about that. I thought it was kind of silly.
He missed her hand & arm. No lip kissing. It was funny
Mother Morticia the Mother of Goth. Long may she reign.
I thought Vampira was the mother of goth.
Or Elvira
❤
@@WobblesandBean- There can be more than one !
They're all $isters from different Misters! 😏🍻
I loved the display of affection between the two roles, if all husbands could be that affectionate!
Hard to believe really...I would think those down on heterosexual marragw would be the ones objecting.
bobulo! tish! kisskisskisskiss!
Funny how the show was about a family that was the complete opposite of the "normal family". They loved each other. Lol
Mine is almost that over the top, and I am thrilled!
You forgot to mention that she was in the original "Invasion of The Body Snatchers"!!
Right 😂stunning
And the actors (and actress) who played the kids in the Addams family (Wednesday and Pugsly) said she felt like a real mother to them . Apparently the kids were so happy because they were like a real family even when the camera wasnt rolling. The actor who played the uncle was a child star whos parents used and abused him and he was extremely protective of the kids and demanded they take breaks for them and made sure they kept up with private tutoring. And when the camera wasnt rolling they would all play board games with them. The kids were extremely upset when it was cancelled as well.
I still love the Addams family to this day. Carolyn was the perfect Morticia!
Beautifully narrated and the story told.
A star whose light went out too soon. I never knew what happened to her after Addams Family. Thank you for this video.
I had no idea that she had acted in so many serious roles. And was married to Aaron Spelling! And died so young.
I loved the Adam's Family and got first place for being Morticia in my third grade Halloween contest. I was slender with long hair and wore a tight black dress with filmy pointy black things around the sleeves and hem. My only claim to fame!
Ms. Jones and John Austin had crazy good chemistry. They were like the anti-Petries.
I L🩷VE your comment! So true!
I would say they were the Petries with a twist. They loved each other, just different sensibilities
Carolyn Jones looks remind me of a young Betty Davis.
You saw that too.....she made me think of Bette Davis in some of the photos that were shown
Yes, but kinder and prettier
Definitely prettier and nicer @@RC-eb5hq
Personally, I think Carolyn Jones is one of the prettiest & most ta!ented of all American actresses in the 20th Century! Live on Morticia!
Wonderfully told story. Thank you!
Solid little bio, the positive loving tone was great. What a stunning beauty - those eyes! Thanks for that! 🙂👍
I love this narrator! Thank you for a heartfelt rendition for our favorite Morticia!
Isn’t the narrator AI?
@@saraw8503. Scottish AI? I don’t think so, not with those pauses and inflections. If you listen, you can hear him inhale.
A fellow Scot. I can't think who he is 🏴
As also a fellow Scot, that's not AI but I don't know who it is either. Someone from Edinburgh with that accent
@@LucySterling24 All I know is it isn’t Mr Andrew Cotter.
She was a truly stunning woman and it's so sad that she had this cancer. My mother had Ovarian cancer and was only diagnosed when she swelled up just before death.
I loved her in King Creole too...Elvis and Vic Morrow...All ended too early...So sad...❤🙏💐💐💐🤗
I always really loved Carolyn! It's wonderful that these films & TV shows can still be found today. She was such a treasure. Makes me sad to think she had been suffering. Now, she lives through these amazing movies & TV shows she made and remains in our memories. ~ Morticia was my favorite character of hers.
Beautiful tribute.
Eloquently spoken and beautifully articulated!
👍🏻💗
Have you forgotten about Marty Feldman? 😜
@@randallsmerna384 Oh HELL NO!!! “Hump? What hump?”
I totally agree with you 😊
😢 Kenny - my heart cries to hear your story. Unfortunately, it's an untold story of many. 💔
I’m so sorry.
Sorry you had a terrible childhood. Make it a better life for yourself and those around you. Therapy helped me deal with my childhood trauma.
I'm only 45 and I keep this series in my collection. Love it! Alot of the older shows appeal more to me regardless of reviews.
To the Narrator: I wish you would narrate all the Factinate videos, Your voice is perfect for narration.
Lovely gentle Scots accent.
Such a sad story R.I.P. beautiful lady thank u so much for sharing ❤
I love how heartfelt and respectfully you tell the story's of these people's lives ❤
This video made me tear up. She was very special and so talented and strong.
I could have tears also, regretting the passage of time. I was 16 when the show debuted. And that was just shy of 60 years ago.
Always loved her, she was one of my first celebrity crushes as a kid in the 60s (along with Nancy Sinatra and Raquel Welch) 😊
Excellent narration, you told Caroline’s story without mistakes or anything else to draw my attention away of it. 👏 What a sad story, I’m glad she was finally able to return to acting though, and found someone to love as well.
This is so sad!!! Thanks for posting this tribute to a wonderful actress who never gave up.
Well done, my friend. Carolyn was so lovely. Thank you for making this. 💜
Thank You for the wonderful video in support of Carolyn Jones. Gone way too soon. She was a truly Beautiful person inside and out. RIP CJ. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
She was stunningly beautiful and I wanted to look exactly like her as a child. Alas, I was a boring blond but tried to dye my hair black as an older teen, something that didn’t work out too well. 😂
I thought she was a wonderful actress and am so sad that she died while not fulfilling her dream of total stardom. 😭
Rip gorgeous lady. 💔💔💔
We appreciated her acting in The Addams Family, House of Wax [with the great Vincent Price], and all her other movies. She always looked classy, beautiful, and completely in character. We pray she has a special place in heaven for such wonderful talent.
She was so good as Morticia. I never missed an episode.
Carolyn was great actress. Miss her still. Loved her stunning eyes.
Same with Betty White. She was married 3 times and loved working too much to have kids.
I find it interesting that you are happy her genes are no longer part of the human race.
Or, had the obligatory children that were then either neglected or even abused.
Wise women to know their dreams & actually pursue them.
I chose to not have children and it was the best decision in my life. Had a tubal ligation at age 25.
@u4riahsc I applaud you removing yourself from the gene pool.
Thanks. She was so gorgeous - and such an icon from my childhood, thanks to afternoon reruns of the Addams Family.
I watched the Adam's Family when I was a kid. I never knew that Miss Jones had played in other acting roles. Thanks for the informative video. She was a talented actress. I had no idea that she suffered this much.
I saw her in quite a few films and I liked her. She had spunk.
I loved watching the Addams Family 👪. Thanks for sharing her story.
Thank you for whisking me back to my childhood . The Adams Family was on my grandparent's tiny black and white tv . Just subscribed ...while I'm still alive ?❤
Only 2 seasons? That show was so entertaining, clever and well acted by everyone. 😮☺️
Didn’t realise there were only two seasons of the Adam’s family
I know me too!! I thought it was on much longer.. Wonder how long the Muensters were on?? My other favorite show from my childhood
At that time, TV series had 18-22+ episodes per season. I too grew up watching The Addams Family, and in a rush to grow up, two years seemed to be an eternity back then to most pre-teens. I thought it was on TV for more seasons too.
@@haroldkendra7283 There were 64 episodes.
Awwe, I always loved Carolyn as Morticia in the Adams Family. She had a pixie hairstyle and face with her big blue eyes 👀 it's so sad that she suffered from cancer while filming. May she rest in peace 🙏 🪦❤
I grew up watching The adams family Rip such an amazing actress!💐
Carolyn was awesome. Hollyweird blew it with a lot of actors that fans loved
Every show ms Jones graced her beauty her acting ability everything about her was true class.even as a child I saw something in her as morticia in the Addams family.i still watch it today endless reruns still holds my captivity.sadly there are no more actresses today to hold a candle to her and others.im so glad I grew up with old school movie stars.r,i,p ms Jones hope your soul is at peace.
I loved her on the soap opera “Capitol”. Really missed her performances. Sad to see Capitol soap opera end too.
I was too young to see that soap, I never heard of it before. ❤
She was such a great artist. And a beautiful woman.
Thanks for a sad story beautifully told.
Truly sad❤ thank you for your narrative
My favourite narrator, perfect articulation
That was a sad story. I feel sorry for her. But what a fighter!
I loved her in The Adam’s Family!!!! One of my most enjoyable times watching the whole cast! I was 4 and 5 years old when it aired but watched all the reruns!
I absolutely loved her as Ronnie in King Creole with Elvis!❤
She was brilliant in that film. Helped to make it his best movie by a mile. Sorry to hear how much she suffered.
She perhaps never realized how truly legendary she had become. Rest in peace, Ms. Jones. We miss you❤
I used to watch Adam’s Family when I was a child. The only thing I think that you got wrong is that it wasn’t daytime TV, it was on at 8:30pm on Friday nights
