Joanna Moore was beautiful. it's always fun to see her in the retro TV shows of the 50s and 60s. Loved her on The Andy Griffith Show. Shame she had such a troubled life.
It's not that she 'changed her name to Joanna Moore.' Her name was changed through adoption and marriage. I just hate it when things don't exactly line up. Makes me wonder about the rest.
It's heartbreaking to look back at the tragic and challenging life Joanna Moore endured, but no matter what, her talent and beaty will always live on in our hearts. 🕊❤
It is heartbreaking, Hollyweird is more interested in exploiting people than helping them get the help they need. Very tragic upbringing for the poor, impressionable children.😥
Indeed. Ms. Moore will always be remembered for her beauty and lust for fame and fortune. She will also be remembered for her parental negligence, recklessness, moral flixibility, and poor judgment. Beauty is fleeting, but Ms. Moore couldn't escape her debilitating character flaws, as they remained with her for the long haul.
Wow I never knew all this, I remember Joanna Moore in various parts and liked her, she was one of those actors who when you saw them you would think "hey I like them'" without ever learning their name. I didn't know she was Tatum's mom. The whole story though is tragic and sad, Hollywood at it's worst!
Wow, Joanna Moore died the same day as Michael Hutchence from the band INXS died. How do I know this? I was in labor & gave birth to my 3rd Son on that day, November 22, 1997. I was pushing my Son out as the TV announced the death of Michael Hutchence & felt sad that he died just as I was giving birth. Worse yet, November 22nd is a perpetual anniversary of the day former President Kennedy got shot & died, too!
The O Neil genes are strong, I think Tatum and her brother look so like their father., and she might of not been a big Hollywood star but she’s the mother of Tatum who is still the youngest Oscar winner
I grew up in Americus GA and new Joan Cook. Joan was raised by her aunt until she graduated from high school. My mother taught her piano --only one year--the year when Joanna's regular teacher was ill She was incredibly beautiful and a very talented pianist.
Probably in her drugged out condition her only coherent thought was about making sure the kids didn't go missing, and dog food is often kept in peoples' garage. And depending on their age, kids don't have to be hungry to eat anything they can reach and chew. So I'd guess carelessness brought on by drugs rather than intentional mistreatment. Still her fault though, and of anyone else who knew and should've intervened but didn't.
The sad story we so often see of someone not grounded in parental love as a child. Such a sad life that always seemed to be one true love away from change.
No she does not. Why do people always do that? Especially with famous people. Tatum and her brother do not look like either of their parents. Tatum is not beautiful, not ugly. But not beautiful.

Beauty may attract, but it is the character/personality which makes man stay with the woman. From this vid, it appears, Moore certainly attracted men, but her personality then pushed them away.
“It’s amazing those kids did so well.” Uhh, no they didn’t. Both Tatum and Griffin have had major drug problems. Tatum’s was so severe she lost custom her children, to rage-aholic John MacEnroe. Griffin was drunk and high when he was involved in a fatal boating accident. His foolish choices on that boat, lead to the death of director Francis Ford Coppola’s son.
Absolutely nobody in the O'Neal home was stable: Joanna was an emotionally unstable alcoholic; Ryan was an emotionally and physically abusive drug addict who stole his friend's wife; Griffin is a physically abusive drug addict/alcoholic who was drunkenly piloting a boat and killed his friend; and Tatum has battled prescription drug addiction, heroin addiction, emotional instability, and a stroke. I'm going to read Tatum's first book, that's the one that details the abuse and then Tatums own issues.
Some people should NEVER have children. Tatum parents shouldn't have. Ryan was even worse
so sad
Read her book before you decide you know more about Tatum's life than SHE does!@LHLK-f9t
I've read Tatum's book. Very rough childhood, but, wow, what a huge talent (Paper Moon). It's sad to see Joanna make so many bad choices in her life.
Tatum said in the book that her father would ask her why she looked a certain way, as if she smelled something funny.
He didn't like the fact that Tatum gained more acclaim in Paper Moon than him
@@FreshandNew-w6u A normal dad would have been proud and supportive of her acclaim. Ryan was talented, no question...but he was also a textbook narcissist.
Thank you for only Having minimal background music. There are some other Movie biographies online that I just can't listen to Because of the music
Wow, the phrase hurt people hurt people, that is to say, people who are have been hurt and are hurting inside very often hurt other people. Tatum and Griffin didn't stand a chance.
She was very pretty.
Very pretty...and very messed up!...Looks can be very deceiving--a warning from an old man, to younger men. Good looks are only one quality you need to figure out, when dealing with a woman.
pretty messed up to do the things she did to her children
And….?
Looks r "deceiving $ 👎👎👎👎
"exactly" 👍
Joanna Moore was beautiful. it's always fun to see her in the retro TV shows of the 50s and 60s. Loved her on The Andy Griffith Show. Shame she had such a troubled life.
It's not that she 'changed her name to Joanna Moore.' Her name was changed through adoption and marriage. I just hate it when things don't exactly line up. Makes me wonder about the rest.
So tragic, she was so good on Andy Griffith.
Thank you. Such a sad story, it’s too bad people can have fame and riches but have such a tragic life. Also their children suffered.❤

Such a sad and tragic life..
Tatum told the truth many times that made her the black sheep of the narcissistic parents
You got that wright Nicole, love yah babe !
Wow those poor kids had the worst in both parents . Both parents only cared about themselves.
WOW!
That is amazìñg
Late President Kennedy.
You're sons birth shone a light on an a date that was otherwise dark.
You were watching tv while giving birth?
Loved her as "Miss Peggy" and remember seeing her on an episode of Gunsmoke too.
She was so pretty! She was very good in Alfred Hitchcock's "No Pain" episode in Alfred Hitchcock Presents, starring with Brian Keith. 👌🏼
Sadly,Brian Keith committed suicide.

I have sympathy for the children.
Such a sad story, may she now rest in her peace ☮️
Tatum's son, Kevin McEnroe, wrote a novel called "Our Town" that was basically a thinly disguised biography of his grandmother's tragic life.
Rippedmoff title.though.
These things are common in family's with addiction unfortunately everything goes bad many people have experienced horrific things everyone suffers
The O Neil genes are strong, I think Tatum and her brother look so like their father., and she might of not been a big Hollywood star but she’s the mother of Tatum who is still the youngest Oscar winner
They are the most photogenic dysfunctional family. Always picture-pergect but in very sad circumstances .
It's "perfect".
I grew up in Americus GA and new Joan Cook. Joan was raised by her aunt until she graduated from high school. My mother taught her piano --only one year--the year when Joanna's regular teacher was ill She was incredibly beautiful and a very talented pianist.
There was no excuse for the abuse of locking her children in the garage giving them dogfood to eat.
I must have missed that part. Was that in there? That's despicable!
Tatum wrote about being locked up in the garage with Griffin for months and only eating dogfood in her two biographies.
Ryan O'Neal gives himself away as a terrible narcissist, calling his wife unstable, whilst being a drug addict himself at the time.
The sad story we so often see of someone not grounded in parental love as a child. Such a sad life that always seemed to be one true love away from change.
Tatum looks a lot like her.
Tatum looks like both her parents.
Don’t see that at all! I think she looks like Ryan!! JoAnna had much smaller facial features, and a smaller head in general.
Joanna was more beautiful than Tatum O Neal
@@lisajan580 Yup!!
No she does not. Why do people always do that? Especially with famous people. Tatum and her brother do not look like either of their parents. Tatum is not beautiful, not ugly. But not beautiful.
I remember Joanna played with Elvis in FOLLOW THAT DREAM she was great
Great job. This short biography was presented professionally and well researched.
Beauty isn't everything, but she was a beautiful woman. Sad that she had demons.
Ryan Oneil was worse than Joanne Moore. He abandoned his family to live with Farrah Fawcet... and you give him a pass and only blame the mother. Are you #GenderConfused? You seem like you think fathers don't matter.
She was so pretty.
And a child molester
Tatum grew up to be a very compassionate and beautiful woman. I think one of the hardest things for her was having to forgive her parents.

Ummm ... you may wanna rethink that one. I just read a post on here that said, as info posted on Wikipedia maybe, that in 2020 [just 4 years ago!!]; that she tried committing s------ using prescription drugs & fell into a coma, had a stroke & couldn't speak.
Sadly, I don't believe that behavior is a positive sign of dealing with her issues.😢
Loved Tatum in "Paper Moon" with her dad Ryan. She played that part as a child actress. One of my favorite movies. 😊
And won an Oscar for it, youngest winner at the time.
I also loved that movie, such a smart little girl.🏆Bravo Tatum!🏆
I remember her on the Andy Griffith show.
Perry Mason too.
Me too, I always wondered what happened to her she fit in well I thought.
I heard that Joanna accidentally sat in Orson Welles' chair during "Touch of Evil" filming and that he absolutely flipped out! Things happen, but people also have delusions of grandeur sometimes and can be rather abusive. One other star talked about accidentally parking in Robert Wagner's parking space, and he went ballistic! Gotta love Hollywood and those not so stellar moments of behavior. Anyhooo...
Thank you for this piece, a very sad tale.
Thanks for listening
She (Peggy) was my favorite girlfriend of Andy on the Andy Griffith show. Andy and Helen had an affair in real life too - why didn't they fire her.?? I liked Joanna much more.
She was my favorite Andy girlfriend too.
Maybe she was too out of control. They probably figured once Andy was done with her she's be sleeping with Barney or Floyd, or even Otis. Who knows if she were kept in the show long enough, Opie may have had a shot. Wild lady.

It seems to me that Ryan and Joanna both intended to be, if not exemplary, then at least adequate parents. Too bad nobody could intervene before the children suffered too greatly 😢
I've always felt sad for Tatem she's been treated horribly and had a tremendous amount of trauma.
Greatful she's doing better. Talk about a rough childhood.
It's "grateful".
I think it's sad, that these two people didn't consider what marriage is supposed to be, or how it is a building block, in a healthy society. Divorce destroys that particular block. Now, so many of these blocks are being destroyed, I think it's no wonder that society seems to be falling apart.
No one respects the sanctity of marriage anymore. Especially in Hollywood.
What a stunning beauty!
Beauty may attract, but it is the character/personality which makes man stay with the woman. From this vid, it appears, Moore certainly attracted men, but her personality then pushed them away.
I love Tatum, I grew up watching her and I miss watching Paper Moon with my grandmother.
I feel so badly for Tatum and Griffon, mom was a pdf file.
Sadly the children paid more because of their self-indulgent parents! It’s amazing the kids did so well!
I wouldn't feel embarrassed by having my 10 Y.O. son or daughter pay the bills and support me.😊
She's beautiful. 🥰
She was very good in some Alfred Hitchcock episodes.
She was good on the Andy Griffith show playing Andy's girlfriend.
Hitchcock was notoriously horrible too.
I could see where Tatum got her looks from: both of her parents were very attractive!🤩
How does a woman end a teen age marriage in less than a year and then went off to college? She had no living family. This story needs filling out .
She was adopted by a wealthy family. No doubt they helped pay for her education.
Perhaps her well to do adoptive parents made this happen?
A terribly heartbreaking 💔 story .
As far as I know, Patrick O'Neal is perfectly normal, but Redmond is beyond a hot mess--more violent than his father, but not quite as deadly as Griffin.
Redmond lives in a mental health institution now. Ryan had a lot to answer for.
Patrick O’Neal is the only sane one because, he wasn’t raised by Ryan. He was raised by his mother Rachael Leigh Cook, away from Ryan and Hollywood.
@@yves2694why just Ryan? And not Farrah? Redmond's drug addiction & behavior started at 13 yrs old. He was sent to multiple rehabs in his early youth. These Hollywood kids took a backseat to their parents careers. Lana Turner was barely present, focused mostly on the PR machine.

When I first saw Joanna Moore on The Andy Griffith show, I was fascinated and infatuated by her. And then I heard her saying and my heart melted. But she made several mistakes unfortunately.. and a lot of us do as well.. but apparently she liked the Limelight and to be in films
Very well done. Much nicer listening to a real human rather then a computer.
She was extremely beautiful- and with her short hair in some of the photos I wasn't sure if I was seeing Kim Novak or Janet Leigh.
Though Novak and Leigh were both beautiful. Frankly neither were anywhere as breathtaking as Joanna.
I knew Joanna in the late 70s early 80s. She was a very nice woman. She had an apartment that was filled with very nice things. I lost track of her. So sad to hear her life ended so tragically.
She was a real nutcase, but she never had stability (I can relate) it was passed down to her daughter, Tatum finally broke the cycle.
Tatum didn’t break any cycle. She just wrote books about it her trauma. Tatum has a lot of issues and so do her children.

I read somewhere Joanna Moore was written off the Andy Griffith show because of her drug and alcohol addiction which at times caused her to be late for work and many times this held up production. On this channel you make it sound like she became an addict after she left the show. Who is right and who is wrong.
Once heard an older actor say to a young up and come actress who became a well known tv actress - to make it in this business, you have to make sure of three things - Turn up on time to the set, remember your lines, and don't be a dick (be on good behaviour on set).
