Matt: makes a point with great evidence every one else: ok but anyway Both Lando and Max have said that the McLaren was the faster car today, so the arguments that RB was faster bc they qualified worse is baffling. ( and the agenda is getting through, can't believe Spanners is the reasonable one here ;) )
"Is starting on pole position in Barcelone the worst place to be?" at 23:30 with everybody adding to it or nodding their head is a pretty nice one. Barcelona has the highest pole-to-win conversion on the F1 calendar (with a minimum of 5 races). Must be one of those good kind of problems to have I guess...
Question is, how many of those times were the pole sitter ahead at lap 1? I don't know that, but Lando likely wasn't the only one who lost the start in Barcelona. The problem was just George and his slip stream and that he was also ahead.
Van Gene; Max has shown weakness under pressure. When and where?? Performance under pressure is one of the strengths of Max. Lando, George and for example Charles have all shown to buckle under pressure, not always of course, but there have been occasions that they have thrown away a good result.
I don't know if Lando would have won if he had great start, for now I hear a lot of wishful think, but Lando still has mountains to proof, and the same applies to his team. Just that Verstappen was bleeding honesty didn't told me a lot either, both in motor and other sports it isnt uncommon for the top athletes to take that "hit" and simply aren't going all out if they don't have to. As for Verstappen his "aggressive spark", I think he still has that, and showed not that long ago when a lot of people thought that Perez could take on Verstappen. All in all the season till now has been entertaining, but I think its to early yet to conclude anything.
You must think that Bottas is a total genius driver if you believe he is good enough (in the chaos of braking for the first corner) that he can hit a car in just the right way to knock him intoacross the track and into Verstappen. Go add an extra layer of tin foil to your hat!
Another great episode! You guys are a staple for me. I love this particular collection of panelists. All my faves here this week. Great to have Antonia back, great infusion of assertive female energy:-). You all have great chemistry together. Wishing you all the best.
For people who have paid attention to the Ferrari teammate lap times, particularly on high deg tracks, Sainz has always done the Russell and used up his tires early on in a stint, get into his teammate's DRS, ask for team orders, and if he doesn't get them, gets dropped at the end of the stint because his tire wear was higher. The reason they pit Sainz so early off the mediums was because his lap times on the mediums were abysmal compared with all the other top 4 teams whereas Leclerc was lapping similar to Norris on the medium stint. Not to excuse Ferrari strategy at all, they were planning on putting Leclerc on hards instead of softs with 20 laps to go just to do something different from Hamilton until Leclerc said that that was stupid.
Faster on the straights doesn't mean the fastest car overall. They were pretty much evenly matched, with different strength', like every of the last races showed. The Red Bull is better at the beginning of the stint, the McLaren at the end. And I just saw the data analyses form formel1.de, that McLaren was faster on the straights, that's right. But crucial was, that with DRS the RB was 3 kpH faster - that was the reason Max could overtake George, Lando couldn't. That together with the tyres overheating after only a few laps, so you could only do it at the very beginning or with o big tyre delta was a deciding factor.
Lando, Charles are not championships winners though i think they have the basics for it. Gheorge had the mentality but not the top quality. When Max car stay compatitve over a season he is gonna win at end of the year. Less mistakes and lots of points per race.
Sometimes I think I'm more addicted to this show than F1 itself, like I'm only watching the race so I can enjoy this banter😅 One question you didn't answer tho..... who's car was lighter? Mr. Gas or Mr Oh??
Lots of talk about the drama between LeClerc and Carlos, drama between Lewis and Stroll, will their be drama between Lando and Max......please let Matt talk about tires and strategy more! and Perez is done...lets never mention him again.
Is the American guy saying Red Bull intentionally put Perez on a 3-stop so he would finish an additional 24 seconds behind where he would have on a 2-stop? Surely he realises the absurdity of this comment?

did we all imagine Max's crashes earlier in his career?
@@GloomGaiGarthat was not under pressure that was trying to win in a slower car.

guys remember when Toto said Max was 1-2 DNF away, Lewis was under pressure and he made sure he and Bottas took Max out in Silverstone and Hungary.

Awesome show! Loved it. Keep up the awesome work, even if it means a fader control or two need to put in the hard work behind the scenes. 😆
More Antonia! Her comments rocked! Her takes are merciless and spot on. More, more, more.
Ocon fan is lying, Gasly has the heavier chassis, he said it on french tv (canal plus)
@1.09.00 Matt with the southern twang 😂😂

I thought it was a fun race!
If you listened to Max's radio, you could tell he definitely was pushing

2022 Brazilian GP Max vs HAM
The championship was already won then.
Got to love Spanners clear Russell agenda
Peter Windsor said McLaren was a few KPH faster on the straights. So McLaren had the fastest car according to the Data he showed.

Congrats to Logan for not doing the thing.
Please bring Antonia more often! This friendly banter is hillarious and makes the podcast even better. Some friendly banter between friends is amazing

Red Bull scored the most points as a team this weekend.

Such British commentators, Max drove a perfect race
They didn't say he didn't?
He did make a small error on T7 (I believe and almost lost the car). So technically he drove near perfect lol.
Which I literally said in the intro section 🤣🤣
Is the American guy saying Red Bull intentionally put Perez on a 3-stop so he would finish an additional 24 seconds behind where he would have on a 2-stop? Surely he realises the absurdity of this comment?
No he's saying that perez is performing so badly, that red bull were forced to put him on the 3 stop.
