I disagree with your perspective on the portrayal of individuals with Down syndrome in the movie. The film is rife with stereotypes and paints an unreasonably bleak picture of their lives. People with Down syndrome would never have such a universally sad existence, and the idea that they would kill someone is both unrealistic and offensive. Furthermore, the ending suggests that happiness is only achievable through productivity, which contradicts the reality of a world centered on love and acceptance. In a Down syndrome world, happiness is not about productivity but about love, connection, and mutual support.

It's meant to show that "getting rid" of physically different people is something that OUR "normal" society, historically. Moreover, it says the opposite of what you think; it's saying they aren't even capable of our REAL WORLD brutality in their world because it's too complicated.
People with Autism can be seen as unable to do certain types of social behaviour well, but they can also be seen as the people who invent half the stuff in the world, and who build and maintain insanely technical and precise machinery while also being able to communicate intricate concepts extremely well; once you learn how to communicate with them. :) It takes all kinds.
There's no small simple way to say why or how much I love movies like this.... but this one film in particular contains every single thing that makes those reasons true. This movie has made my day! ❤
