  • Learn how to perform an elephant turn on your off-road motorcycle with ADVMotoSkillZ. This video demonstrates the steps for both standing and seated elephant turns, providing beginner tips and safety guidelines. Practice your motorcycle skills and improve your off-road riding with our expert instruction
In this episode, we address the most common challenges faced by adventure motorcycle riders who are new to learning the Elephant Turn technique. Mastering this skill is essential for any rider seeking to navigate tight spaces and develop a deeper understanding of fundamental riding techniques.
Two main hurdles faced by riders learning the Elephant Turn are properly leaning the bike and delivering adequate throttle. In this video, we delve into these issues and provide practical tips to overcome them.
During the video, we cover several important aspects, including maintaining balance and control throughout the turn, adopting the correct body positioning, effectively managing throttle and brake control, navigating various terrains and traction challenges, and building confidence in your motorcycle's capabilities.
To facilitate your practice, we offer the following Elephant Turn practice tips:
    1. Find a suitable practice area and inspect the turning radius to ensure a safe and controlled environment.
    2. Begin by focusing on bike lean practice, honing your technique and control.
    3. Gradually progress to throttle practice, familiarizing yourself with breaking traction and manipulating the bike's movement.
    4. Use proper body positioning to optimize control and stability.
    5. Always prioritize safety by covering the clutch and front brake during your practice sessions.

    Side Note:
These agility & skills courses/exercises are designed to help develop the fundamental riding skills of clutch, throttle, brake and active balance by the rider.
Precise practice in coordinating these techniques can lead to instinctive/reflexive actions by the rider and allow for more precise control of the motorcycle.
Mastery of these techniques allows the rider to more smoothly transition the bike when cornering as well as being able to react reflexively when encountering unexpected changes in surface traction in off road conditions.
Depending on your skill level, you may want to make the courses larger to feel more comfortable while you develop these skills.
Performing these exercises carries a risk of dropping your motorcycle which may result in damage to you or your motorcycle. Always be sure that your bike has the proper crash guards and that you also wear the appropriate protective gear.

Ive tried the big bike off road thing, its just not for me.
40 years on 2 strokes off road, why would I want a 500 lb or 600 lb bike? Marketing has done a great job selling these monsters. Too many friends have broke themselves playing dirtbiker on huge bikes.
I got a new 690, much more like a dirtbike.

    • @advmotoskillz
      @advmotoskillz  หลายเดือนก่อน

Completely understand. I didn’t start out riding on dirt bikes, and I find them uncomfortable to ride 😅. It all comes down to the style of riding you enjoy.
I have been trying my hand at dirt bikes lately, and they certainly need a different approach than an ADV bike.
It all comes down to: the more a rider develops their skill, the more enjoyable the ride is, no matter what discipline!
