You didn’t list the CONS of Shift4Shop. Setting up a shop is like walking through mud. It was built on top of an older platform called 3DCart so everything is mixed up. You have to set up your own relationships with shippers, and then integrate those. Photos were hard to figure out. But the worst thing is, if you don’t start selling very quickly, they kick you off the site. I spent weeks entering inventory and trying to link and resize photos and then they canceled my store because I hadn’t sold anything yet. There was no warning ahead of time that that would happen.
Hi Mary. We've started two stores on Shift4 already. One is run by my 13 year old. It takes time to learn the gui but it's a powerful cart. You will get taken down if you don't set up payment processing with 90 days.

Thanks Steve, I have learned so much from you over they years. I also want to say that Shopify's customer service is no longer good. Maybe it was when you made this video 3 years ago. But definitely not now. I know.
Not sure what you are looking at, but you are flat out wrong. woo commerce is a plug to a word press site (also with many free themes). You can host wordpress anywhere and get your domain anywhere. there is no separate domain or hosting for woo commerce beyond what you chose for your wordpress site. the basic wordpress does all the things that a basic e-commerce should do and if you need addition services there are tons of plugins available (many have a basic version for free and and upgrade that you pay for if you need it). I have used woo commerce for years, it works very well and is very customizable. for instance we sell furniture and ship nation wide. In the basic, free version we were able to set up shipping zones across the country. This way if customer needs shipping, the shipping price comes up automatically based on customer zip code. If we instead asked customer to call for shipping price they typically would walk away from the sale. I am not aware of any other platform that can handle this type of customization in their basic package.
I was about to message Steve about the very same thing. The landscape is changing. Hostinger is advertising that they have removed all technical pitfalls and hurdles from Woo. Also, I notice that Shopify has gone overkill on their marketing. The amount of videos promoting Shopify have EXPLODED on TH-cam. I think they are bleeding sellers and are throwing massive amounts of money to influencers.
Thanks for this shopify must be cleaning house they terminated my account out of the blue! Baffled but these are great alternatives at the end of the day it’s what you put into it which makes the difference going with big commerce!
Thanks so much for this info. Sadly base plan for Shift4Shop is $29/month in Australia. I'm a total newb and this is all so daunting. I've started a website with Shopify, however haven't returned when the free trial expired as I didn't have any pictures of my products as yet.
I took my own photos with an iPhone 5S. Uploaded them to my PC. Used the Windows 10 photo program to adjust the colors to as true-to-life as I could, because the iPhone gives them a yellowish cast. Then opened them in MS Paint. There, I adjusted the size and painstakingly removed the background to make it pure white. You can do this. Just don't let uncertainty hold you back. :) Search TH-cam for tutorials on photographing for ecommerce, for eBay, for Amazon.
@@granjmy Yes, Donna, I agree. My iphone photos are better than my 10 year old Canon DSLR. I have an editing suite native to my mac, however have other windows based programs as well. Thanks for your input.
I’m using Shopify. And when I started and needed help, their team couldn’t help at all; they knew nothing. This happened again and again. So, lousy support. They may be available, but they’re generally lousy.
While this video was enlightening, you completely missed comparing an item that would be a deal breaker for me: With Shopify you can set it up to automatically handle most common sales tax calculations. You can also set up tax overrides to address unique tax laws and situations. Shopify uses many default sales tax rates, which are updated regularly. You didn't mention anything about sales tax collection for those other sites and it can be a nightmare as a small shop owner trying to figure out the different sales tax rates at first. Yes, you will eventually have to make some tweaks, but when you are just getting started you have so many other things to learn and master before you even make a sale.
Hi, a question I cannot see the price for your book anywhere, and I usually never order anything without knowing how much Im going to pay for it. I would like to preorder do.

Rebecca, did you ever learn the answer to this question?
I found my mentor. Thank you. Pllssssssssss train me to excel in in business
6:46 wrong, you can have 3 markets on basic plan and have them on separate languages
Woo has decent support through chat and if no one is available quickly then a ticket/email system is the fallback.
Superb Video brother... Regards from Kerala, India!!
Thank you for these alternatives. Very helpful. Which one would you recommend for selling art/paintings?
Liked and subscribed brother stuck betwen two platforms atm so was looking for another alternitive keep.up the good content brother and god bless you
absolutely incredible info! thank you so much
Just locked into my Shopify I’ll in Canada Shopify cost me 30.45 American each month and for each sale they take 2.75 percent plus a 30 cent fee
Thanks for the video, brand new at this and majorly small budget included.
Thanks for this shopify must be cleaning house they terminated my account out of the blue! Baffled but these are great alternatives at the end of the day it’s what you put into it which makes the difference going with big commerce!
appreciate for sharing this with us, excellent video
What platform would you recommend for a new small business?
Search TH-cam for tutorials on photographing for ecommerce, for eBay, for Amazon.
@@granjmy Yes, Donna, I agree. My iphone photos are better than my 10 year old Canon DSLR. I have an editing suite native to my mac, however have other windows based programs as well. Thanks for your input.
Awesome! This is what I was looking for. Thank you.
I’m using Shopify. And when I started and needed help, their team couldn’t help at all; they knew nothing. This happened again and again. So, lousy support. They may be available, but they’re generally lousy.
Great information! Thank you very much! Really appreciate it!
Can you speak on SquareSpace commerce plans? Which would you recommend for an online bookstore presence?
They used the Woo Commerce Store plugin when I had my SquareSpace website 3 years ago.
Every cart can handle sales tax calculations. The harder part is figuring the limits and filing in the states where you need to file
This does not apply to the basic plan! Only the advanced ones... is it worth it for those just starting out? No!
FYI - some shopify apps (e.g made by shopify) are free.
also, multiple languages is not 2 grand, it is a simple app.
just subscribed you're literally the best teacher! You tell us everything we need to know
Hi, a question I cannot see the price for your book anywhere, and I usually never order anything without knowing how much Im going to pay for it. I would like to preorder do.
Thanks for the info. Steve. Very informative indeed.
I can't even figure out how to buy something on shopify. I've looked up how to buy on shopify and I'm only offered how to start my own store. Why would I start a store if I xant even figure out how to buy on shopify.
Would you like to know any alternative to shopify? I can recommend you one.
Customers dont visit shopify directly, shopify basically hosts the store, and let you customize the store. customers use your stores url to buy
I want to learn ECOMMERCE MULTICHANNEL. Do you offer a course for this?
Thanks for this video straight to the point great information
Thank you. I am going to try shift 4 shop.
