I'd like to ask you to investigate financial institutions who try to force customers to stay in credit card or other loan debt by threatening to close customer accounts with $0 balances for x-months at a time. This activity is currently legally allowed and the result is that if the accounts are closed, customer credit ratings are negatively impacted, via the change in their debt-to-credit ratios.
If you could please investigate all the major financial institutions, to find out which ones practice this predatory indebtedness behavior and which ones don't, as well as the reasons they each give for why they do or don't, I would really appreciate that. American consumers are being entrapped in this catch-22 because it hasn't been brought to the forefront, and that needs to change.
Credit ratings are used for everything from signing up for utilities to job application processes and housing seeking activities. The financial institutions who practice this entrapping behavior are threatening peoples' futures, no matter what their customers do, because they aren't allowing customers to put their accounts on indefinite holds that go beyond the x-months limit.
The financial institutions doing that is crazy. Credit cards in particular are for "rainy days"/emergencies, not perpetual use. They aren't cash-based bank accounts, but our laws are treating them as if they are. This has got to change, but it won't until this gets reported on. Thanks for considering this request!

As an Amazon seller, I can honestly say that that they don’t care about us. They invite you to sell on their platform and when you find items to resell or even have them manufactured, they gather this data and then go,directly to the manufacturer and undercut you and you are stuck with inventory you can no longer sell at a profit. With time you have to learn to time it and get in and get out before Amazon takes you out.

I remember people talking about Jeff Bezos' keen interest in middle school boys in Bloomington, IN during the 1990s. The reason for his baldness is relatively apparent. Justin, housemate of Levi Thomas and Dana in Bloomington, IN in 2004 was stated as his nephew. Justin also hung around with Jason Graham and Kaylan Randolph at the time. My son went from working hard on a hay farm to being a package driver for Amazon for one dollar more an hour. He loved it at first but that love quickly wore off. As he kept making his delivery time goals each week, they kept pushing him more and more without any bonuses. It was never good enough. He was working 12 hour shifts. He was exhausted, going up flights up stairs carrying packages daily.
The better he was, they more they worked him until he completely gave out. Once he tripped on a step snd he was terrified to tell management so he wouldn't get yelled at n get a mark against him or get fired. I cleaned his elbow and super glued his elbow skin together and put butterfly stitches on it and sent him back to work.
A year later, after 2 years of no raises, tighter goals to meet, no recognition for safety, and reaching his goals, he gave up n quit.

What people don’t realize is that you cannot continually improve and grow as a company without having employee turnover. At Amazon, they have obviously realized that they MUST have high turnover to keep improving and growing. Why? Human beings want comfort and stability. When humans are comfortable, they like staying comfortable. A comfortable organization, just like a comfortable person, will stop improving. You cannot improve your abilities and talents without discomfort. So, Amazon realized that every human has a limit, and that people will leave when they reach that limit. It’s a simple factor that Amazon has accepted and built into its business model. It sucks for the burned out employee, but there are 100 people waiting to take every employee’s position. Especially the positions that require little talent or skill (like driving, sorting packages, pushing buttons and pulling levers). Keeping people in those positions for 5-10 years isn’t realistic so rather than struggling to make employees stay, Amazon sees it as a natural process and they’ve set up their business to account for natural human behavior. As soon as the high turnover positions and work can be done by AI and robots, there will be no more of those jobs. Right now it’s just cheaper to cycle people through those positions, accepting that people will leave after an average of __ months on the job. If people want a comfy place to work, they shouldn’t choose to work for any of the most successful organizations in the world.

Former Amazon employee, other than the pay, it's a horrible company. They have very tough performance standards that they don't use unless they want to get rid of someone for non performance reasons. Amazon hires lots of "seasonal" employees who are paid less and not given benefits, that permanent employees receive, to work indefinitely without reviews or change in status to being permanent. The inventory is treated without any care and poorly packaged without much protective padding at times, it is a wonder more isn't returned. Management and HR could care less. I experienced discrimination and workplace hostility and aggression.

I think it’s very interesting how Amazon is so difficult to categorize. Are they a software or IT company (web services and cloud software)? A hardware company (Alexa, kindle, fire stick)? A retailer (competing with Walmart and target)? A grocery store (Amazon fresh)? That ambiguity really plays to their advantage and makes it difficult to identify competitors and what “market segments” they are truly operating in. They are way beyond being just a monopoly. They are a global conglomerate behemoth.

As a former delivery driver for two different courier companies. I must say, the second company i worked for, were the ones to bring out Amazon’s tactics. At the first place, i started off easy with 130 deliveries a day for a 10hr shift. The company would automatically pay us 10 hrs even if we worked less than that.
The next day, i had 250 deliveries and all in gated communities. I quit the job when i was on my 120th delivery and stuck arguing with a security guard about the delivery.
The second company i worked for, i showed up at 5AM, got the van loaded and during dispatch announcement, the dispatcher told us all, “if you know your route, take your time and dont rush it. The more you run, the more theyll give you”
The restroom was also nonexistent as they had me in Calabasas, CA. Most houses, i couldnt even walk up to the door without having a security guard meeting me at the sidewalk.
When the dispatcher let me know of Amazons tactics, i began working much less and got to the point where i would spread my 10 hr shift to the point id be able to go back home, make brealfast, lunch and grab a snack and drink prior to it being 5PM

Few times in history has 1 man and 1 entity been such a resounding signifier of everything that is wrong in a given society and economy. These anti democratic top down organisations of people for the production of goods and services that pays them far less than the wealth they produce per hour allowing the handful at the top to extract the remainder and grant it unto themselves via unearned income of dividends which are taxed at half the rate of the workers who produced that wealth, will either end on civil terms or to borrow a phrase from science fiction, these economically violent delights of the rich unto many, will have bloody violent ends.
Presently 8 people have more wealth than the bottom 3.5 billion combined, that is the culminating result of 400 years of capitalism, the majority of the west getting poorer, the rest going sideways and a handful getting richer than god himself could count.

Red or blue or green or pink with spots it matters not. To the capitalists mind, Democracy must never be allowed to systemically alter economic policy.
The problem is not corrupt government, that's a symptom. The problem is the top down anti democratic economic system bolted to it that over centuries has corrupted democracies to varying degrees to ensure the rich minority and their interests are served before the majority, no matter who that majority votes for.

I actually saw that first interview with Jeff Bezos when Amazon first found some success as an online bookseller. It stuck with me because he actually after giving the rate of growth of the internet he says the internet use was growing at a faster rate than any product in human history. Faster than the telephone and I think he gave other examples.
I also recall that he said he picked books only because they were not perishable and therefore you can keep them in a warehouse unsold indefinitely. You could buy unsold books super cheap and without a storefront sell them cheap. On the highstreet, space was a premium.
It's so strange to see the interview here again for the first time since it first aired and I had no idea back then the internet would change the world completely. It's actually weird to have lived through it and look back on life before it.

All I need to know about Jeff Bezos, is how he cheated on his wife of twenty five years, who left her job to help him start out Amazon. Jeff Bezos didn't value what his wife did for him. He repaid her fidelity and hard work, by finding a mistress, and breaking her heart. What a selfish, cruel, man who lacks ethics, morals, and honor. .

    • @AnyoneCanSee
      @AnyoneCanSee 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

@@DeniseEggertwaterlily - Sure, that's not really anything to do with what my comment was about but I will say that in my life I've dealt with hundreds, perhaps thousands of people in business and morality and success do not go hand in hand. In fact, I've noticed that people that do not care about people often succeed better.
If I provide a service like cleaning and pay my staff well and give them medical cover and holidays etc, then I would have to charge my client $2 more an hour than the guy that pays the lowest wage possible and offers nothing to employees.
This means I'd go out of business for being a good boss and the asshole would get all the business because he is cheaper.
That is how capitalism works. This is why the government has to force a minimum living wage on to companies and force them to provide healthcare and then decent people can compete and bosses are not forces to push down wages and condition lower and lower.
Unchecked capitalism can only result in the lowest wages and worst working conditions and someone like Bezos will push that as far as he can. Because as you said there is no morality in business only profit margins.

@@AnyoneCanSee He must be in the high percentage of sociopaths in business, that I read about in a psychiatric journal .
I imagine that you must have some turnover of staff in your cleaning business. I have worked for multiple hospitals in two different healthcare systems which merged a few years ago . I have been a coronary care RN for 6.5 years , an acute Hemodialysis RN for 8.5 years, an O. R. RN fir 6 months, and an emergency department RN since 1999 - over 20 years . The first E.D. was a trauma 1 E.D. . I have also been a trained, state certified sexual assault forensic examiner since 2009 for my emergency department . I taught BLS and professional rescuer CPR and First Aid for almost 40 years, and I was an A.C.L.S. instructor for the À.H.A. for 6 years, and I have been an instructor in Basic Disaster Life Support and Advanced Disaster Life Support for 12 years , both in the U.S. and in India . I also trained with FEMA / CDP.
I retired on July 1st last year and I receive two pensions , social security , and I haven’t touched my 403b account or my TSA.
I was called by my Director almost two months after I retired and asked to come back because multiple RNs left and she needed someone experienced, fully trained, and dependable to help out . She had H.R. professionals work with me to bring me back ASAP and I now work 5 hour shifts 3 times a week and I’m on call as a sexual assault forensic examiner a few times a month, as well. They gave me a raise to come back, in the middle of COVID 19 Pandemic .
Many times the pay , benefits, and health insurance which an employer is willing to pay , depends on how difficult it is to replace them, and at what skill level and experience level is needed for a position .
