Thank you to all three of you for what you bring to me and my knitting!! 🩵🩵 I have watched since the zoom days, and I love what each of you brings to the party!! You guys give me so many ideas - patterns and yarns :)! Thank you for taking the time. Please knit on and on. Love The Knitting Posse!! Big fan. 🧶🧶🧶
I, too, try to stick with colors that look best on my complexion. Even if I knit something with a color I love but know it’s not “my color” I know I won’t wear it even loving the color. And a great way to make a yarn more “your color” is to hold it with a totally opposite yet complimentary suri colorway. So many indie dyers have gorgeous colors and it doesn’t have to match the MC yarn. I’ve held a hot pink suri with a neutral variegated colorway for a totally different fabric. It’s fun to experiment!
Happy New Year ! Always fun to watch you and I love the idea of a Thea Colman KAL, I've never knitted something from her but I am heading to Ravelry right now to browse her patterns. Perfect for january knitting with stash yarn ! Thanks so much for organizing.
My gambier is Main Color - sandy heather, contrasting are kiwi and medium charcoal. I made some mods, and had to make some changes after the fact. (Removing the colorwork on the arms, it was too tight for me and made the sweater fit funny - operator error I am sure. Cut the sleeves off, ripped out the colorwork, knit back just plain stockinette with MC then grafted back together. Quite a challenge, but it worked!) I have some Noro Silk Garden - so want to make your Terrazzo sweater, Kim... Love it! Portuguese knitting is knitting from the purl side with yarn tensioned around the back of the neck, Tunisian crochet I love too! I use it to make dish cloths and hot mitts, great texture....I can teach you Laura :) Looking forward to VKL!
Just a little hint from me. I too get bored but for me it is sleeve island. What I do is set aside 10 to 20 minutes either alternate days or every day and at least continue on. I am always amazed when it is finally finished and did not see the time go by. I also have projects for different rooms in my home.🤣
Kim - I have the same problem with getting bored part way through some sweaters. I was thrilled to see the finished test of Rhumb Line with short sleeves and made a quick detour in my plans for my own. I finished mine 2 days later! I really love it that way and I could move on to my next test (a cabled cardigan for Thea). Love her patterns but I better concentrate on the sweater instead of starting another project for the KAL😂! Always love your podcast and just added more to my list of “must knits” today.
Julie, you could totally just wear a loose flowing turtle neck to give plenty of color, even white next to your face and still wouldn’t detract from your sweater…it’s beautiful. ♥️
Thank you ladies! Always fun to watch and I always come away wanting to cast on so many things! All of Thea Colmans patterns are AMAZING! And Kim when you first knit the Terrazzo sweater, I loved it and bought the yarn right away but I still havent knit it! Not enough time but I need to get on that one... Thanks also for all of your mentions and plug for the podcast, really appreciate that, thank you. So I've booked my plane tickets so barring anything unexpected - I'll be there! Sign me up for dinner or whatever. Happy to share hotel info if you'd like, just let me know.
Agree hats first for first time cables. I’m knitting Anne Hanson’s Rust Belt River vest. Had to figure out the flat cabling. 🤔 Bare naked wools are fabulous ❤
You girls are so much fun!!! Loving every single project you are working on ❤ I think Laura will surprise us all with a very cool look to show her finished sweater. It is looking breathtaking! I was not a fan of gray until my late 20’s and now is one of my favorite colors in my wardrobe. Kate, looking stunning in hot pink! And Kim, the sweater you are wearing is breathtaking! Love the colors in the yarn ❤
I love everyone of your podcasts! I enjoy the camaraderie you have developed over time as well as how natural you appear on camera. I am going to join the Thea Colman KAL. Yaaaah. You are all talented knitters and love seeing all your knits and the descriptions which is so helpful. Kim, based on your talk on the Terrazzo sweater, I bought the yarn and look forward to knit it, this will be a different shoulder design for me. Thx for another great podcast!!!
First time viewer her. Enjoyed your podcast. I am glad that you addressed the issue of ‘intentional knitting’. It is so easy to be overtaken by the hype of new pattern or yarn. So happy to hear you are doing a Thea Colman knit along, I love her patterns! Thinking about Smokeshow
I agree, Kim! I knitted a lot this past year, and my problem is to get bored and hurry and finish. Then I often don’t love it, though I like the yarn, or parts of the garment. I don’t want to take out and re-do. Good advice!
Good to catch up with you! Kim, I have trouble with length on my sweaters and feel you when you say you get bored. I also have sweaters in my closet that I don't wear for the same reason. Intentional knitting is a great option for sure.
Always a delight to knit along with you three!! I hope I get to see you and say hi at VKL in New York at the end of the month. Now I’m off to check out Thea Colman patterns . . .
A happy and healthy New Year to the best 🧶 knitting combo I know. Without any envy and full of ideas, inspiration and affection, thank you so much for your time 🌟
I'm with you regarding mohair. I much prefer suri alpaca. Some mohairs are a lot softer than others too. Neighborhood Fibers and Purl Soho have softer mohair to other poplular brands.
Happy New Year! I’m excited about the KAL and definitely will be participating. I was smiling throughout the episode as my 2024 knitting intentions are pretty much verbatim to the ones you were expressing. I too feel like I frogged more WIPS in 2023 than ever before. And I gifted 5 sweaters last year for various reasons. So my intention this year is to be much more discerning about color, weight of the yarns I select, fit and the wearability of the patterns I choose. I’m off to a great start and am loving what I have on the needles so far. I’m on the fence about Vogue but may go for the marketplace on Saturday. BUT, will 100% be going to Knit City Toronto in May.
Perfect KAL! My granddaughter picked Thea’s Harvey Wallbanger for her birthday gift in February. I plan to cast on once I get to my winter digs in FL. I always find inspiration from you, today was no exception. I am with Laura in the “no mohair “ camp. It itches, and I am not fond of holding 2 strands while knitting.
The timing for your KAL is perfect. I bought the Kent worsted from Bare Naked Wools at Rheinbeck this year after seeing the sample of the Broken Oath sweater knit up there. My goal is to use all of my Rheinbeck yarn purchased in ‘23 before the ‘24 event. This is just the push I need to get it on the needles.
Thanks for another fun and inspiring podcast! I just finished Julie Hoover's Whelan cardigan that you recommended probably 3 years ago (it took me almost that long to make it) ... it is absolutely amazing! Although I was thinking I didn't want to see another cable for a long long time, now I'm tempted by your knitalong and all the wonderful Thea Colman designs... her Paloma is one of the first sweaters I made. Time to go scout out patterns and yarn options...
Thanks for another enjoyable episode. I got a good amount of knitting done while listening. I'm on my second sleeve of a Violeta pullover , and about to cast on an Artus shawl with the KAL. Happy knitting 😊.
I've been binge watching your podcasts from the beginning and loving getting to "know" you. I laughed out loud when Kim said that color was not good on Laura!!! Like you all, I am also trying to be more intentional in what I knit--with styles of sweaters and using up my mountainous stash!! Have fun at Vogue NY. Living in CA, that's a bit too far for me right now. Can't wait to hear about your trip!
Hey Ladies! First time watching you, and won't be my last - I may have a look at some previous episodes. 🤗 So much that you said resonated with me - especially the intentional knitting... finding the right shades of yarn (to have near the face at least) and also the styling that is perfect on me... I agree, that we often love the look of something that actually won't suit us, but looks great on someone else. Also agreeing when someone says they whip out a hat in 3 hours... who are they, lol. A hat definitely takes me a while, as do socks and all of my knitting... I'm not trying to get any faster, but my fingers definitely don't whip along like some, so yes, slow knitting rocks and I'm in your camp there. Anyway, look forward to seeing your Rhumb Line done, Kim! I'm totally immersed in a few test knits for Beth MacDonald Stone right now, and I, too, just love her patterns. 💜 Cheers, Judith
Happy New Year! 🎉 What a great way to kick off 2024 hanging out with you ladies! Congratulations to Kim with her ChiaoGoo interchangeable set! I’m a ChiaoGoo fan(atic?) and I totally approve! I’m loving Laura’s purple vest and, personally, I believe the correct answer to,all color questions is purple. You can always use grey as an accent, of course! Hi to “my friend” Kate! 😂 Keep sharing the knitting joy! 🙋🏽♀️💜🧶
Looking forward to the KAL. I have been planning to do the Broken Oath sweater, and bought some Studio Donegal yarn at Rhinebeck, soooo, looks like that’s my next cast on!
Yeah I am going to do smoke show in MYak…I could not resist buying it when it came out…Love Thea’s patterns - I have more of hers in my Rav Library than any other designer!!! Great MKAL! Also picking out yarn for my Gambier. Hope to see you at VKL!
Thank you for your video. I could really relate to some of your conversations. In this last year, I had a lot of frustrating ill-fitting knits. My goal for the upcoming year is to be more intentional about what I knit. I plan to do more research and stick to a few designers that I trust. This last year, I was influenced by a few serial test knitter podcasters' who hyped some of my worst fitting makes. It has been interesting to now watch these same podcasters'' end of the year roundups and hear them now disclose that these are their least worn sweaters (due to fit issues). I enjoy the honesty of your videos.
Love ur podcast~ always! The #ciaobeanie is amazing! I think pink is perfect on Kate! I knit mine in Downu worsted by lamb and kidYum! The design from @ wanderlust knitter is perfect happy new years to you all!
I only work on one project at a time that insures that I complete it. I just finished my last project a couple hours ago and ready to cast on my next project. My yarn didn’t make it today as projected as maybe Monday 😢
And a Happy New Year to you three! Do look at Thea Coleman's "Blueberry Vodka Lemonade " - I have just completed it and I love it. It is a great pattern and the detail is subtle but enough to keep your interest. Very easy.
Can’t wait to watch👏👏👏Saving you for the long haul flight: Dublin to Vancouver ( via Toronto) on Sunday. Thank you in advance for a great episode- LOL🥰🇨🇦
Your Kirwin reminds me of my Sarsnet sweater from Rowan’s last magazine. Similar vibe, but sounds less complicated! I knit mine in Rowan fine tweed haze and it’s my new favourite!
Loving the new-year catch up. LOL when you said "Suri Lace", my HomePod gave me the Wikipedia definition of "lace". I've never had a podcast trigger my AI pal before.
Kate: I wonder if you could tell me what colours of Lamb's Pride you used for your Gambier? I just tried to look yours up on Ravelry, but don't see it and I remember thinking your colours were just perfect. If you have a minute sometime, please let me know. Thank you!
Newish viewer here - thank you for a fun podcast! I’m currently knitting a Sean’s Gambier and I have a question for you…..I’m wondering if you considered knitting in the round and steeking yours and if so why did you decide against it? I’m steeking mine and second guessing myself and worrying that there is some unforeseen roadblock that I didn’t consider 😬 I’d love to know your thought process! Thanks again for a great podcast!
Hi Girls, here's an idea....why don't all three of you have your colors done and make it a video. That would be so interesting and would fit with your 2024 goals of being intentional with your knits. Suzanne
I’m a new viewer and Kevin & Ray are the reason I found you. I love your dynamic during the podcast. Your projects are amazing. I am going to check out the Thea Coleman patterns. I planned my knitting for the year but it’s an evergreen plan so changes are possible. :) The plan includes gradual WIP wrap up. Psst my WIP count is currently at 7. Happy new year! I love your podcast and can't wait for each new episode. However, I need to make one comment because it happens every episode. As a group, you say, yeah, yeah, yeah, when referring to each other's comments, I have attempted one time or another to count how many you say and lose track. Hopefully this is just a constructive criticism. Keep up the great work I really enjoy your show.

Your message makes me so happy. Thx you for watching. Happy knitting.
Hello Posse! Enjoyed spending some knit time with you this morning. Have the best time at VKL!
Hi Laura, you are right, that color looks really good on you - brightens your whole face :)
Kim, your Terrazzo is stunning!! It might just have to go on my one day list. 😍
Yes, you should def knit the Terrazzo It is a keeper.
Looking forward to the knitalong and love your podcast. You look like you have a lot of fun and always a joy to watch.

Good to know. thx you

You guys are adorable. Loved spending time with you this morning! Going to have Steve pick out a hat pattern and join your KAL. 💫HNY to you all! 😘
I have both the steel and the bamboo 4” tip in Chiagoo needles….. they are the best as well as all the shorties red, blue and yellow, best needles

Happy New Year ladies 🎉 Love you ladies, one of my favourite knitting podcasts, thank you!

Ooh that sounds interesting.... but also a little scary!! Have you dyed a knitted garment before? Any tips?
Thanks for your fun podcast on a snowy day here in Maine. I didn’t know that Thea C. had so many hat patterns. I’ll take a look. Take care, Eileen

Thanks for setting up the KAL with Thea Colman! Now for the hard job of trying to decide between Smokeshow, Oban cardigan, and Angel's Envy.... 😵💫
Sooo many good choices

Your Kirwin reminds me of my Sarsnet sweater from Rowan’s last magazine. Similar vibe, but sounds less complicated! I knit mine in Rowan fine tweed haze and it’s my new favourite!
Just checked out the Sarsnet. Definitely a very similar look. Just added to my favorites. Thanks! (Laura)
6 WIPs are nothing. I think I have 16 that I know of lol. You got kim!
Loving the new-year catch up. LOL when you said "Suri Lace", my HomePod gave me the Wikipedia definition of "lace". I've never had a podcast trigger my AI pal before.
🤣🤣

Thanks for the feedback
On the contrary I think the gray looks very nice on you. Brightons your face. Your shirt seems to be similar shade. I think it is a beautiful pattern.
I do love gray, so I'm sure I will wear it a ton...
Hi Girls, here's an idea....why don't all three of you have your colors done and make it a video. That would be so interesting and would fit with your 2024 goals of being intentional with your knits.
Suzanne
I love that idea!
By the way couldn’t find the Anrheg hat on Purl Soho, did find it on Ravelry, still free.
It's not a PurlSoho pattern! But, I used PurlSoho yarn for it. (Laura)
I am going to VKL. Would love to meet you.
Please stop us and say "hi"
