You folks have been great, so glad you are there. One observation, I was surprised you didn't install a new K frame. Great stuff.

That is one sweet build, dream car. I have an 86 IROC, and Hawks did some awesome work for me!

I didn’t know they did that. So they are turning into a speed shop?
I’ve bought a lot of parts from them. I’ll call them about my Z28 and see what they say.

When this generation first came out the car looked faster than the 305 they put in it.But these really were cool and with all the aftermarket pieces it`s a car that can be modified with a wide range.

Great video and superb build, you guys keep elevating the third gen game!! one question I did not see any subframe connectors on it, any concern with the chassis twisting since its t-top with 800 HP?? I was under the impression that SFC's are almost mandatory for any kind of power increase on a t-top.

Why not go with vintage air for such a nice build?

What is the backspacing & offset on those 18x10.5 rims? What had to be done to fit those rims and tires in?

Can you paint a carbon fiber hood? I know this customer wanted the exposed carbon, but I’d prefer to paint it. Is this possible?

    • @tylerhawkins7787

I've seen CF painted with a candy shade of blue. It's absolutely stunning.

This is how GM should have made them from the factory!

They do now. But back in the 80s, it was still "get that mileage up". An 88 stock Iroc puts about 240hp on the wheels. Good for about 147 in good weather and a dry course.
If I had an Iroc, I'd go for an LT1 build and 6sp tranny from a donor 2019 Camaro SS. Lot of them where I live, as it's a very popular and inexpensive hot rod. Or a 383 Stroker if you are more of a traditionalist. With a Hillborn FI unit, good for about 525hp.

Edit: Also a good weight reduction as well. Lighter hood, front air dam, lighter rims. Interior a thinner carpet, lighter seats. Also, I have a friend who makes custom T-Tops of either fiberglass, or even Carbon Fibre if you have a T-Top equipped Iroc. Those glass tops are hefty. But you will need frame stiffening if you go with lighter tops. The Iroc is an amazing car for mods.

That's not a "cold air intake". Why don't people think about the words they say? 🤦
