This was fun to watch. Janelle is like you with what I seen in your past styling videos. I use to see candy stripers walking around the hospitals years back. That practice of volunteering might not be a practice any longer. I always thought their uniform were so cute on them. This thrift trip seem a little low keyed as far as what you guys found/purchased. My favorite thrift item in this video is the flannel Zara dress, love the sleeves on it. Great pieces. I think you should alter the black button dress and the red and white candy striper dress for Janelle. They look so nice on her. You also got a lot of gorgeous items. I used to have an old vintage purse like Janelle 's, wish I had it today. Sometimes de-cluttering is not a good idea!!!

The red and white stripe jumper: Back in the 50's and 60's, the high school volunteers at our local hospital wore those exact ones, and the girls were called 'candy stripers'. Haven't seen that jumper style for many years!
Not criticism - just genuinely curious. It looks like that linen dress was 6.49 and you're reselling it for over 50. Is that a common to re-sell thrifted clothes at much higher prices?
And this is the exact problem of selling items that you have publicly thrifted... nothing wrong with reselling what you find (I do this all the time) but people really do not like knowing the profit margin! 😅 maybe if you find items to sell in the future, show them but not the price. Or just add things to your depop that do not appear in recent videos. Xx
Well yes it is! Especially if it's something that you know some else may really find value in. There's the cost of going to the store, the time you put into looking for the item, and also washing. I have my own little online thrift shop and I don't sell at those prices but I can see why some one would. Also, she has a target buyer that is probably willing to pay it.
It’s a one of a kind find that others would gladly pay for. She needs to make a profit because of the gas spent to go searching, her time thrifting, parting with such a treasure, the piece itself along with the condition and quality, shipping and packaging!
Hey Susanna thanks for asking! I knew this would come up eventually if I listed things for sale on my Depop that I thrift in these videos. It's a very valid question and I am happy to share my experience with you. I used to own an online vintage store and so I spent a lot of time scouring thrift stores and flea markets looking for those one of a kind pieces that I thought were wearable today and relevant to the current trends and market. It was really hard for me at first to mark up pieces when I knew how much I had paid for them. It took me some time and I learned from other vintage shop owners that there is so much more to how you price the item. It's really about how much you value your time, effort, the back end of things... cleaning and storing the item, make repairs when necessary, modeling photographing and listing the product, then finally packaging it and going to the post office to ship the item. It all takes a TON of work and lots of time. I started to realize that if I wanted to make this my job I need to start valuing myself and the work I put in to find and curate the pieces in my shop. Also when considering pricing I consider what similar looking styles and items are going for right now on the vintage market. Linen is really big right now and so is that button down style- very Reformation brand. I priced it according to what I thought was a fair price and what I would pay for the dress if I saw it in a shop. I hope that explanation helped! Also wanted to note, that this is my passion and I would absolutely love to be able to do this full time and anyone who purchases from me is helping me achieve my dreams- so thank you! xoxoxox 💛

I had one too in the 80's when I was a Candy Striper. Most girls were wearing tunics but our program voted for the jumpers. It's fun to see this restyled for today. 😊👋
