Pretty interesting the differences in our style, if you think it’s too much I’m like hallelujah I need that! Think you are keeping to a more classical look but seem drawn to the extravagant =) and have that attention to detail and cut which is so cool. I’m learning a lot!

I think you did amazing. You got a lot of great pieces. I admire how you are able to say "no". I've never heard of that store where I live. You guys in the States have really interesting thrift stores and better yet really amazing prices. We have a Value Village where I live in Canada and a turtleneck would cost $8.99. Lucky you - you did well. Another thrift shopping video please - but don't make me jealous.

Amy Morton Thank you! Ooo inspo right now is a lot of different things but I think I’ve been most inspired by Bjonesstyle. Beth Jones is amazing how she puts outfits together. Some of her looks are way out there but she rocks it and it inspires me to take more chances and be bolder. Also feeling inspired by classic minimalist pieces and incorporating some of those pieces into my wardrobe with other more extravagant pieces. DearlyBethany has a lot of fun videos with more of that paired down style. If you haven’t watched these ladies yet definitely check them out. ☺️

Huli Bug It totally does! The green dress was the most complicated alteration I’ve ever personally done. Not to mention I’ve never sewn silk either. So I was practically dancing when I finished and put it on and there weren’t any bubbles or bumps in the waist! Do you sew too?

Alteration part: I wanted a little extra info on how you raised the waist line. Did you do cutting on the dress or take it in on the sides! The alternates really flatter your figure on point!!!

Yes, GREEN. It’s my favorite color but SO challenging to find in stores these days! For the alterations I unbuttoned the whole thing, grabbed the waistline from the inside seam and pinned it to take it in about an inch and then sewed straight across making sure the buttons were ok. I didn’t have to cut the fabric at all. It was my first time sewing silk I was pretty nervous and so glad it turned out as good as it did!

Just a heads up....that length of your forearm trick does not apply if you're plus size.
or even just not extremely skinny....I'm straight sized and my forearm is way tinier than my waist.
Most definitely. The length of your forearm isn't variable but your waist size certainly is. -_-
Yep, no way is that working for anyone more than...maybe a 6..? 8 at most??
I've heard of trying a waistband around your neck...but I think that one's not foolproof either

But how about just holding it to your actual waist? Like, to basically your sides and if it reaches to both sides fully, it'll probably fit.
In the Philippines, we put pants and shorts around our neck to check if it will fit us 😂

When skirts are too big, I always use a pin to discreetly make it fit. Especially if the skirt looks really nice and I don't want to part with it, an adjustment always works!

inkblue28 I know! $2 for 100% silk! Such a steal! Yes.... the patterns! 😍 I contemplated getting some but I already have a pattern at home I need to get to work on and didn’t want to get one till I’m absolutely ready to get at it. Otherwise it will just sit around my house. 😋
