Mark Martin's Hometown History Tour! Original Buildings & Profound Life Lessons From a Legend

  • This video is easily the best thing I have ever filmed and the most impactful video on this channel. After Mark gave us the full tour of his museum...we hopped in his Yukon Denali for the firsthand tour of where the hall of fame career all started. Batesville Arkansas. The original spot where his father Julian founded his trucking company where Mark learned many life lessons. The stories and value with them just can't be described here... I hope if you are reading this that you'll listen to everything this man says because its pure gold.

I sure learned a lot and gained new perspective on my own situations from it. The coolest part about doing this stuff for me is the ability to see cool things and also meet amazing people at the same time gaining wisdom to improve my own life. I’m glad you guys are here for it.

Hearing Mark talk about his dad was something that struck a chord with me. How he didn't try to shelter and protect Mark from everything, in particular. How his dad used his mistakes to teach Mark instead of being prideful and trying to cover up his mistakes to appear infallible.
Work hard, be proud and take pride in what you have and take care of it, be ready and willing to sacrifice for your goals, be a man of your word, learn from not only YOUR mistakes...but also from the mistakes of OTHERS.

Thank you for sharing this! My uncle was the biggest Mark Martin fan! I remember him telling me multiple times. “Kid if you chose Mark as a role model you could definitely do a lot worse!” Of course he meant that Mark was a helluva role model both on and off the track! He would have loved to have seen this!

I was around 16 or 17 when I met Mark at a signing many many years ago. First thing that struck me was that despite not being very tall, I could feel how damn strong the guy was just from his handshake. It wasn’t one of those grips where you can tell the person is trying to clamp down to impress you. Dude just genuinely had vice grips for hands. Second was how he took the time to spend a moment to actually talk to everyone, even if only for a few seconds. Just a genuine, approachable human being.

Mark Martin is a wealth of race car and life knowledge. I can still remember watching a race when I was younger where he lost his rear bumper and dominated the competition because of it. Nobody could touch him during that race, he was flyin!!

Mark may have never won every race, but when the day was done, he was a consistent driver that raced like a gentleman. That is something to be proud of for sure.

Whether you beat Mark or Mark beat you, you know it was a clean, fair outcome. He’d give you everything he and his car had, but he wouldn’t cross that line. Have to respect someone that will fight fair and be the first to congratulate the winner and say “Nice job…you beat me. And I’ll see you next week.”

There's a badass video series he did with Mark Martin, I've never seen him open up to anybody like he has to you. I think him telling his story has opened his mind up as to how good he really was. Love it bro keep on doing it

Listening to Mark talk about his Dad's temper now explains how/why he was cool and calm as a driver, I followed his career for a very long time and I nerver saw him get into a fight or get into another drivers face yelling at them ...if he was pissed he'd just walk away, a very control person, it even showed in his driving abilities a very smooth driver especially in cornering .... not beating the race car to death! I think that was the only part of his father that he didn't want to be like! Mark is a great person! thank you for doing this history enjoyed so much!

Growing up my dad raced at Summerville Speedway in S.C. around 76-77 I was 6-7 years old. I raced in the 93-96. Every Saturday night after the races was over we went to Shoney's. The track owner's dad had the Shoney's Big Boy after they like retired him. When Mark said they went to Shoney's after the races...I said man that brought back so many memories. Mark is an awesome person. Keep up the great videos. I wish he still hasn't his Dillion ASA car I always thought that was a bad ass car.

I could listen to Mark's stories all day, thank you for sharing! I got to meet him at New Hampshire in either 2000 or 2001 at the fall cup race in the Valvoline VIP tent. He was fairly quiet, and I could tell he was a pretty serious person, very confident in himself. But he was very nice and classy, thanked all of us for coming. I'm so glad I got to meet him.
The most profound thing I took from this and also got from my own mother as a child, is to be a person of your word. Keep promises that you make. Carry yourself with dignity, kindness and truthfulness. Back up what you say with your actions. That will take you where you want to go in life.

As a huge Mark Fan, just turning 30 years old. I can put myself in your shoes during this video. Mark was always a hero to me. Listed as such on my MySpace account as a kid. I raced his numbers for years on my own race cars. 02 - 5 - 6 - 16 - and others. Love that old man like a grandfather. This was a huge video for me personally, and mentally as Mark is so full of humble wisdom.

Rob, as much as that trip down memory lane meant to you, i would bet it meant equally as much to Mark. You could tell he was excited to relive all those moments and talk about his dad. Admittedly i am not a nascar fan by any means, but this series is absolutely amazing. Love your content. I think you've got a friend in Mark Martin. You and Mark would be a great team in some upcoming cleetus races.
