- This painting tutorial for beginners shows how to paint a few types of hair using a step-by-step process. Once you know these basics, you can continue practicing and find some specific ways to make this work for you.
I recommend using acrylic paint if you want similar results. However, you can apply parts of this tutorial to other types of paint, and even dry drawing materials!
I used:
- canvas that has been gessoed
- Blickrylics acrylic paint in yellow ochre, burnt sienna, raw umber, white, and black
- a round brush
- water
- paper towel for cleaning my brush
Happy painting! If you have questions, feel free to ask them in the comments. Please like and subscribe for more art tutorials!
SUBBED! After 100’s of tutorial searches I’ve finally finally found one that gets right down to business without going through 15 minutes of “OmG HI guys I’ve been so BUSY lately OmGEE!” accompanied by really horrible, stress-producing music. I’ve learned everything I was hoping to learn from this video. Thanks so much. 🙏🏽
Thank you so much!
this is like the best way to teach how to paint out there. truly, I've never heard someone explain something with this medium so clearly. thank you!
Thank you so much!

Thanks a lot I am working on a woman’s face and now doing the hair. This is very useful, very good step by step tutorial. I took notes and will work on it this afternoon at my art club! I am sure it will come amazing.
I love that you took notes and everything. Thank you for watching and leaving such a nice comment!
@@MsCoopersArtClass well everybody had a laugh when I showed them my 4 pages of notes but I can report everyone in my club loved my painting when it was finished.
It is my 6th acrylic project and this one is my best. The hair did not come as well as yours but definitely had texture and life. I will definitely study your other videos. Thanks for teaching us.
Very informative hair-painting instructions for me, thank you.
Very simple thank you!!
I normally don't paint hait like you. But I can
use this tutorial as a springboard. TKS.
I'm glad it's helpful! Thanks for watching.
Thank you so much for this video! ⚘️
Would love if you edit it or redo it, so that you do each type of hair from start to end. eg if we want to paint straight hair, we could see all the steps for that type of hair in one go without having to watch / forward through the other hair styles etc. This is a great tutorial. You are the only one who I have seen use white and then take it back with a bit of colour on top of it and it looks much more realistic than the style where the stark white is left onthe painting without putting a bit of extra colour.
O! Thank you so much for sharing
Excellent video. Thanks
Easy, love it!
Glad you like it! Thanks for watching.
You're a great teacher ❤
Thank you!
That was so helpful ☺️. Thanks
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching.
What if your painting black hair?
That was pretty damn good, thanks
This is really helpful! How do you paint short hair that is shaved around the nape of the neck?
Good question! I usually do a similar thing, but keep the little highlight hair marks shorter. I also paint the skin first so I can layer the little hairs over it.
That helps. Base color, highlights, background, base color over tones. Just hope I don't need to paint my nails because that would interfere with biting them. ;-)
What if I wanna paint blond hair ? Still using white ?
I would still use white for the highlights, but add a little color over it later to make the hair more "glowy".
@@MsCoopersArtClass Can you do a video please 🥺🙏🏼 I'm not a Native so I don't how I traduce this. I want an exemple please 🙏🏼. I know it's a lot of work but I really wanna know how to do it🥺
fuck yeah hair
