    Bro I love your channel with small historical docs like this. 88 92 and 96 are goat yrs of hip hop. There is also a late 80s and early 90s rnb channel like this. It’s the small details. I would like to see u do a whole 2 yr analysis leading up to the decline of hip hop now in 2024.

    • @dredocs
      @dredocs  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That's a great idea and I was just thinking about how to do something like that. It's gonna be a long video so it'll take a few weeks to get it completed I have a couple things I'm already working on. But you're gonna get a shout out for this.

      @@dredocsWow man I appreciate that.. btw wtf happened to hip hop? I’m only 34 but it seem like it was this young black Afro centric female with pride and then it turned into that yt european designer hore it once hated . Just go back and look at the diversity in 92 . Arrested development, spice 1, native tounge aka de la soul , Ice cube etc… hits were were smashes back then. I remember being 3 and hearing kriss kross jump and Naught by nature opp everywhere from mtv jams bet to local radio. People were outside back then and things just felt liver. Around 03 ish hip hop began to lose its soul.

      @xavierwilliams2228 the record labels limited what we hear and now it's just out of hand I never imagined it would get where it is.

      @@waligibson240I got it at a distant number 2. 96 just got too many classics .
      Stakes is high
      All eyes on me
      Reasonable doubt
      It was written
      Soul on ice
      The score
      Atliens
      Hell on Earth
      Hardcore
      Iron man
      Sry 88 laid a foundation but 96 was a time where u had to be at the top of ur kraft to be respected by peers

    I'd say 88 to 96 was the 'realist' in Hip Hop! Everything you heard and saw was fresh and original. EVERYTHING! Once Diddy went from being Puff Daddy to P Diddy and started sayin' he invented "The Remix", WHICH HE DIDN'T, Hip Hop started becoming more 'watered-down' after that.

    • @K.B.Williams
      @K.B.Williams ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They did invent the remix though. They also blended rnb and hip hop.

      @@each1teach1academy43yeah I think 94-95 was the top of that era. I would say things stayed great through early 97, and after that BIG and 2Pac were dead, Death Row was breaking up, and hip hop took a couple years to figure out where it would go from there. That’s not to say great music wasn’t being made. OutKast, Jay Z, DMX, etc were all putting out great music in that time frame, but those two murders pushed a reset button and it took some time to appreciate the new normal.

Oh and don't sleep on those Pooh-Man and Poison Clan albums. Both were dope imo. Brotha Dre I would love to discuss rap with you man. I rarely meet people that go in-depth on the subject like I can. How about Showbiz & AG - Runaway Slave? No love for the DITC crew, but at least you had Lord Finesse in there. And Redman's album was the last Def Squad album of '92, not EPMD.
