- As we start the next course of the hyperadobe earthbag roundhouse, we realize we may have a huge problem. One of the straight walls is more than 12' without a buttress. Or is it? Depends on what feet you use.

I love it all! That sweet, sweet dog sleeping in the sun! Your kids are fantastic! I love that you can start and stop when you want to. You don’t punch a clock and you can quit when you’re ready. And you have the freedom to stop one project and work on another if you want/need to! Bliss! I envy your lifestyle, but I do not envy the hard work! Love you guys!
You are good for my health. In the past I was painter, renovator, and community activist. Since my heart attack and 11 stents I have not been able to do much physical labor. I lived off the endorphins produced hard work and the excitement of achieving. Watching you guys has given me that endorphin I used to get from work. my heart thinks you, my Dr. Thanks you, but most of all I thank you.
I know you guys are super excited to see the bags at ground level. High five to everyone’s hard work!!
Happy Friday everyone! I’m so excited to see the progress on your house! Ashley, great idea with the scraper holders, Jax, NO! Lol! 😂 I also love your ASL TSL, Tiny Shiny Language and communication is key. Have a great weekend and I love you all! 😊❤
Ashley, suggest some type of hook or hanger (maybe one of those tall planter hangers) near the mixers. Hang the hose up each time you use it. Dropping the nozzle on the ground is what is causing it to leak. I went through a few nozzles before I realized I needed to stop throwing them on the driveway/patio/garage floor. 😍🇨🇦
I enjoyed that "walking through the grass" part. Such beautiful golden light
Another great video. I too loved the walking through the grass and the little swarm of bugs. All of you are so creative in your own unique way. All your viewers look forward to Mondays and Fridays. Thank You!!!!
Your collective TSH videography features work, and the beauty surrounding your family, very few TH-camrs have this gift of giving, your life-work and the exquisite love of creation, by sharing what your families eyes witness and share daily.😊
You guys are setting the gold standard for quality with these hyper adobe bags. On the other channels I have seen using them, their bags are wandering at all sorts of weird twists and turns. Not to say those other folks are doing it wrong, just that you definitely are the best!
That tamping lesson was helpful, thanks.
Guys love these videos. You are so right that there is always a project to be done. FYI please take in consideration about possible injuries that require larger openings. I built my house to handle wheelchairs for me in case of injury or old age. Better to enlarge your doorways now then later. Love from Florida❤
Really wonderful suggestion, everybody gets a visit from a family or friend who needs to use a wheel chair or walker at some point in time, and the doors and frames get less nicks and dents during their use.❤
I love the stationary pooch on the time lapses!
And my mother in law tells everyone I changed our house plans 100 times. But my husband says he was good with it, since I never made a change after material was in place. So, as long as you don't have to unbuild anything, y'all are golden! Ignore them couch worriers.
Your son should be a model. I mean truly what a beautiful family. Beautiful vision. Beautiful energy.
I thought the exact same thing. Beautiful looking people God bless them all.😊❤
I seriously love watching the family as a whole building. I can't imagine how much hard work goes into building each consecutive building. Good job kiddos!
I don’t have a nozzle recommendation but… you know that tube you taped on the mixer? I think the hose needs a place to hang too. The more it’s dropped to the ground, the weaker it becomes??? Just a thought
You can change out the washer to help with leaks.
Buying and making a new house your home always brings warm memories. But a family building a home together makes those memories all the more meaningful. May God bless your build and keep you safe in this major project. ✌🏻❤️🙏🏻
Good idea to have multiple projects going on
We love the progress, I was recently in the hospital for a back injury and recruited most of the staff that I came into contact with. Everyone loves your channel!! As a side note, we think ya'll missed a golden moment. The caca de casa should have been the round adobe and visa versa, look at the shape and kinda the color , lol. One of the nurses pointed that out and we all had a little giggle.Your family is truly a blessing, keep up the good work! Love from West Texas!
Buy the kids bone conductive head phones..they are awesome. Nothing inside your ears...and you can still hear what's going on around you. Saves your hearing. You can hear just as good.
Hi TSH
Maybe if it's possible, put a window/ glass in the wall you extended. Your won't loose any of the lovely view but still have a weather barrier. Love your homestead
I am so excited for ya'll ,, & can NOT wait until this build is complete, BUT in no way am I rushing because I certainly enjoy watching the progress shares along the way...
Whoa! Sleet! Hail! Snow , and wind. Life is always good in the high desert. I love seeing the chickens, the goats, and the dogs! Life abounds!
We have been homesteading off grid for 13 years. We ALWAYS have many projects going at once, because we also live in the real world. When something rises to the top of importance for what ever reason it must be addressed.
Ahh... the freedom to be flexible and being able to extent a wall!!! And nothing like chilled Cloud watching over!
Love you guys! You’ve brought me such pleasure since I discovered you. I have wanted to build a straw bale home ever since I read Stewart Brand’s Whole Earth Catalog, and then the Fine Homebuilding article. Never got around to it, and now I’m old and disabled I live that life vicariously. Thank you for sharing your story - it’s a joy to watch.
Using sign language for distance communication is always helpful! I once toured the Washington Post printing department; at the time, because of the loud machinery, nearly everyone hired was deaf, and if they weren't when they started, they were when they left! Everyone working there knew ASL, and used it to communicate over long distances or short. It got me into BSL (British, Glaswegian dialect) translation!
It’s so good to see the walls emerge from the ground. It gives us a clearer understanding of the design and a huge appreciation for such hard work! You’re right about multiple projects and makes the channel more interesting. 😍🇨🇦
I love your family and the ability to work together for a common goal 😊❤
I love seeing you use all the things you have learned from past projects. Inspiring!
Look how far you have come! ❤😍
I totally understand having multiple projects going at the same time. It also make perfect sense to tie your walls together like you are doing. Another great video with lots of great tips! It's exciting to see this come together!
Instead of a nozzle, use a shut off valve inline the hose; get a brass one not plastic. Good fun watching. Thanks.
Congratulations kids! You have an amazing education in survival
I love how you are so particular with the laying of your walls. I LOVE the straight, smooth walls you do. The bags that are helter-skelter on some builds drive my OCD cray-cray .... lol
Cray CRAY!!!😊❤ I’m with you on that one.😊😊😊
The nozzles with the ball valves won't leak. The grip/ trigger style will always leak. Maybe 😊
The one thing I will advise you to do when it comes to doors is make them wider than you think you need. My parents were building a house what doesn't seem like 30 years ago, but my how time creeps up on you. My mom and I both worked in health care at the time (she is now retired and I have another 20+ years to go until I retire) made sure the doors were wide enough to get a wheelchair and a walker through. I designed her master bathroom and told her what she needed to do to make sure no changes would need to be made to the house when they got "older". My mom was actually younger than I am right now when she built her house. I had a home care client at the time I had to shower and they had this "bench" built into their shower. I told my mom about this, roughly drew it out on a piece of paper and she incorporated the same thing into their house. You can use this bench for shampoo and soaps also sit on this bench which is what my dad did when he had his knees replaced. There's stuff you don't think about until the time comes and it will come faster than you think. I was thinking about hyperadobe until I saw you all doing this and if I build something like this, it'll kill me. I am going to go with straw bale and just like hyperadobe, you have to interlock, otherwise the walls are not sturdy.
Good luck guys 🤞. I know you will have it all figured out.
We have the same disappearing tool thing when working in the gardens and homestead. Our solution is a spray can of fluorescent Orange paint - spray the handle or the whole tool so at least you can see it when it’s in the dirt😂😂
Love watching the videos.
I would check with a firefighter supply and/or horticultural supply company. The Forest Service equipment I’ve used in the past is hard core and long lived. Real thick brass and real thick rubber. I can’t recall the companies but maybe a call to the local fire house or forest service office could guide you.
Love your project. Love your editing. Love your music, love your work ethic. Love it all. 😍
Beautiful snow!
When a foot is not a foot...lol. Fortunately, you caught the error before adding anything on site. Sometimes, it really is all about the little stuff. Love the scraper holders.
It is so nice seeing your work together!
Great progress. Persevere through the elements guys. Your doing good!
Love it! I also loved the filming of moving through the grass near the end. It looked awesome 😃
Thank you All . of you learn sign language . I’m deaf I feel good that you learn ASL (America sign language)
Robot says love it so much keep it up as always 💘
Wow when you pull back on the drone shot everything looks so good, major accomplishments.
A lot of changes along the way. The luxury of building your own home. You have complete control of changes as you go.
Hey guys! Looking good. Great job and keep it up. Love and be safe!😘🤗🌼🇻🇪
Your channel is amazing! You have an awesome family unit, including the fur babies! I love all your projects! Take care! 😊❤️
Yes Thank you Homies.
Way to innovate Ashley😊
I like how straight/even the sides o the walls are.
Wow, you all have incredible patience to do a great job! 😮 👍 ❤
I love the shape of the hyper Adobe earth house. Such a great design
Brilliant homes for the scrappers and awesome Sons, their presence, efforts, strength, commitment, skills, smiles and laughs - truly awesome! !
Looks Amazing ❤❤
Oh it's coming along so nicely. Haha at least for me on this side of the video. Your collective hard work is really paying off. Many projects at once is a way of life. You guys are handling them with great attitudes.
See you next time. Coffee was so much better this morning ‼️
Thank you so much for sharing your life, knowledge and humor with us! 🙏🏽
It’s so much more than learning off grid skills, it’s a peek into the hard work, cooperation and flexibility it takes. It’s so cool to witness and gives hope for our future and what is possible! 😉❤️🙏🏽💯
Dramm nozzles seem to work the best for us, but even those leak after a short period of time. We put a good quality shutoff between the hose end and nozzle. We have no leaks when we shut off there. At first it seems a little awkward, but muscle memory kicks in after a short time and now we don’t even realize we’re turning it on and off at the shutoff.
Fireman Nozzel for your water hose, works really good. also protect them from Freezing will help.
My favorite is a brass venturi nozzle attached to a brass shut off valve. Readily available at HD.
I absolutely love the little dome house and the penny floor for the tiny stove!
Great idea to use sign language to communicate! More water, less water, stop. I'm sure you'll find some more ways to use it. :)
My teenager got me that Hellfire Club shirt for Christmas too! 😂 Love the house, my wife and I have been dreaming of escaping to the country for years, just too expensive to be possible in the near future. Love living vicariously through your content! 😂❤
Hi to all iam deaf to be proud of all to learn asl and keep going to learn more everyday
Use a brass shut off valve that goes on the hose end and then attach your sprayer.
It’s about 1.5”-2” long.
Works great. 😊
Problem with a shutoff valve is that means you have to put everything down since it’s a two handed operation.
Could you rig up a hose stand holder? So using a shut off valve was easier & more practical? @@TinyShinyHome
Still watching you all! I assume you're referring to hose nozzles when you asked. Our hard western water is really hard on plumbing. Check out Dramm. You order the parts ala carte: handle, wand, head. You can replace parts as they fail. I have a Dramm twisty head, which ends up soaking in vinegar-water a couple times a season, on a short wand. I also use a full flow head on a long wand with a shut-off valve attached. High pressure nozzles are available too. A little plumbers tape where the parts connect to the wand and Bob's your uncle! Same heads and wands after seven years--no leaking. Worth every penny.
I love how Cloud and the kitties are your on-site snoopervisors. 😂❤
Thank you for your seva
Bonjour la famille. what a great day for me. instead of working, i decided, i've worked enough, it's Shiny Tiny Home time. what great and steady progress you're making. Thanks to Ashley, it will not be trowel and error finding necessary tools for the mixer clean-ups. all the children look just fabulous. i see Jonathan that you're switching hats from one day to the next. it's all good. cover that head from the sun and cold. so good to be back with you. Ashley, may your FEET take you where you want to go !!
I'm loving watching you dll..the kids ..the closeness of you both and the fun ...
I'd love to be able to build an earth home....
I' live in NZ.....
The videos end way to soon...I'm so involved in what your doing ...love it love it....
What your doing is real....
I can almost smell the dust ...
Trish...
Take it from someone that cares for elders …doors extra wide for long term …aging wheelchair accessible and hallways extra wide …❤❤❤and lots of natural light in bathrooms and a wet Japenese bathroom with no step into shower is the absolute ideal for long term aging into a home🙌🙌♥️
Really cute family - loving this
Looks Good! Grew up on a farm and the saying was “ the work never ends it just gives you breaks to eat & sleep!😂😅
Jonathan looks like a real Aussie bushman in the first part of the video! I love that you’re using sign language. Here in Australia we use Auslan rather than ASL.
🤠 looking great…
Your doing marvelous
New shirt idea. Technical Tamper
God you mob are good entertainment.... this Hyderabudabi adventure keeps my offgrid hankering fullfilled....i love grabbing a bottle of wine and a tiny shiny glass in front of Le Tube... Jonnathon in a hat, be still my beating heart, what a man 😮 Happy Straya Day!!!
Hey Big J - lets talk Merch.... Sluriously, I dont want a hoodie or a hat...... i have a grape idea!!!! If you get what im pouring down???
Glassware and thermomugs??? aye???
Hello people ,keep warm ,keep safe❤
(unrelated to your, as usual, great progress :) Let's play Whose Fault IS It? A group of us who traveled together came up with a fun system that your family might enjoy. Everyone chooses a day of the week and, from then on, forever (as it turns out) everything that goes wrong on that day is simply that person's fault! So simple, so funny, so fun---it really takes the sting out of mistake-making!
Ashley I'm going to recommend you guys to get a rubber bending water sprayer (HI-TECH INDUSTRIES SP050 BEND AND SPRAY WATER HOSE NOZZLE) I hope this helps. Great video today.
I want to see what you do when the walls get higher. You're doing very good work 👍
❤TY for the VIDEO 😊 PEACE
#figuringshiiiout looking great!!
Getting a kick out of the fast parts where everyone is moving around, and Cloud(I think) doesn't even move. Lol😅
liking the tiny shiny lingo. Also thought your scraper holder was tickety-boo.
A what now?😂
great video and music :))))
I have been following you guys for several great seasons! Thanks!
Maybe it could help you in the future, when you add glass bottles, to have both sides of the bottle in a plastic bag. Both sides will get 'dirty' only after the last coating. You just cut the plastic round and the glass will be very clear and clean.
What do you think, if this will work?
Please let us know.
Your family is amazing. How do you keep yourselves and your family motivated. The respect, commitment, and communication is beautiful.
Also, if someone has a couple of loose shingles on hand that would help with the slipperiness of the ramps. Attach a section of shingle to the ramp. With Adalai’s adobe, Hayden had barbed wire between the rows… do you plan to do the same thing?
Thanks, again, for sharing your amazing story.
Thanks, hyperadobe bags don't need barbed wire because the mesh allows the material to connect with the previous layer.
May we have another look at the chickens inside the chicken garden?
Replacement of rubber gasket in handle and plumbers type around hose threads and tighten from time to time. As we work we have a tendency to drop the head of hose to the ground
Replacing hose gaskets is easy. Our nozzles fail internally.
Hey! I noticed you asked about a good nozzle! Definitely confirmed Dram
Nozzles. Also, consider quick disconnects to minimize screwing all of the nozzles on and off. You have a dessert to deal with. Sand is likely your nozzle problem. :)
It’s the sand, but it’s not where it screws on. It’s like it’s inside the handles.
You are simply prioritising.
@3:10 "Thank you for being a friend. Traveled down the road and back again..."
Good morning how are you guys doing today hope everything is fine I just got back to running some errands I hope you're doing a good job on the house should do them separate that way each person has their own house 🏠🏡
Could you possibly stop a few feet before the overlaps & work on the inner first. Then come back & do the overlaps, adding those nailer board at the joins. Each time you stop before the overlap at a different point, like brick layering 🤔 Like a foot difference, back & forth on each inner row. Then do the outer circle & those overlaps would kinda be like doing buttresses. Eeek, I can see it in my mind, reality of course could be a whole different story.
Awinter weather , we have had 10 storms already this year in uk 😳sorry ur weather stops u getting on with ur dome ...but u will look back and smile ... eventually 😂😂😂😂
Enjoyed this episode! Glad you are back to working on your house! Are the kids bashful or just camera shy? Would love to see them more involved in the videos.
They’re busy mixing material 😂
