When I lived in AZ, I was amazed that the house construction crews started at 4am, but you have to beat the heat somehow. Me, being a night owl, often spent time outside after Sunset, but there was still a lot of residual heat from the Sun baking everything. I am amazed by this family, working around that hot metal container during the day in the heat of May!

I get exhausted just watching. 65 years old here in New Zealand. The other day I started at a farm at 7am, teat blocking, then 2 cattle shifts of 20 kms each finishing at 5.30pm. I jump out of the vehicle and shut all the property gates along the roads. I slept 9 1/2 hours that night. Still recovering lol. Feels good though, doesn’t it. Keep up the great work guys. 🇳🇿
This has been a really enjoyable series. The project really came together nicely - excellent color choice. Adelaide's (sp?) design was great. It's very nice to see all the kids happily helping bring the idea to life. Thanks for sharing this. PS: More baby goats. LOL

As parents you both are doing an awesome job, not only are you working together to make a home for your family, you are teaching 😀 them your children life and good health🪥🧼🧽, they are learning their education as well as survival. Shipping containers are made from corten steel. Rust doesn't affect them.

Blocking in between the rafters would have pulled the rafter straight and provided additional strength.

Thanks! We're still about halfway through the roof. Will be finishing like our other roofs here with underlayment, metal roofing, gutters to catch water, and 3000w of solar panels rack mounted to the top.

It all looks great! I had that pressed wood crumble on me in Cali when I used it on my shed. My advice, protect it, paint it, it will last longer, mine only lasted like 5 years. the desert weather is so unforgiving. I love the colors you chose!, The more shade the better!

Have you guys seen the solar panels that work on both sides soo cool i seen the solar panel on Aussie van man Channel
Not sure of color of plywood underside, but saw in the south they paint porch ceilings light blue that helps deter bugs.
Remember that the "Corten" steel" is designed to be rusty. There is a Corten steel bridge structure near my city that has had all the paint stripped and left to rust as a design feature. The paint job looks great.
Y'all are getting things done. This looks so cool. I bet the shade sure helps.
I grew up in a house built inside a steel building that was that EXACT color! 😁 Love it!
The corrugated wall panels, frame, cargo doors, and cross members of metal shipping containers are all made from corten steel. This special type of steel, also known as weathering steel, is the primary material in shipping containers.
What's special about weathering steel? Weathering steel, often called COR-TEN or corten steel, is a group of steel alloys which were developed to eliminate the need for painting, and form a stable rust-like appearance after several years' exposure to weather.
So, it gets a coating of rust and then stops. At that point, the paint is more decorative than necessary for protection.
