Honestly I appreciate the quiet nature of this exhaust. I have a catless downpipe and most systems are too loud when combined with that. This is the exhaust I’ll be choosing no doubt. I don’t want super loud, I want good tone. This with the catless downpipe should sound amazing. Thanks Borla.
Sounds good for a 4 banger
I’ve used Borla for many of my cars. My 94 Mustang Cobra sounded great as did my 89 Corvette. They’re good value for money especially for a car like the CTR. Compare to a full Akrapovic system and you’ll see what I mean
Using the borla axle back atak on my r18z1 and love it. Removed factory resonator for a sport resonators from Vibrant Performance.
Different microphone was used in each muffler Or the sound was a equalize differently. Go to 0:35sec and you can ear it. (Can ear when sound change to more mellow tone). Then go to 0:58sec and you can eat it so much clear so the resonators can be ear more louder...
The best cars in the old grand turismo sounded like this.

Those new turbo engine sounds like vacuum cleaners. Toyota 3sgte, nissan sr20 were also turboed and 4 cylindrrs but at least, rumble and make real engine noise!
With a good after market intake I bet it sounds even better and louder.

I've always been impressed with how borla exhaust systems sound.. but unfortunately not so much on the type R.
I have skunk2 downpipe and frontpipe combine with borla it’s give you a very nice deep sound.

In 25 years I've never thought a borla exhaust sounded better than just leaving it alone in any Honda , it always sounds like it's been broken a little not enhanced 😂

Looks great, at least. I'm not sure how this car could be THIS quiet/muted-- looking like it does from the factory. Is it the turbocharger? Maybe Honda should have straight piped it like the 500 Abarth. Or the old Neon SRT4...

check out just about any aftermarket exhaust for the focus st/rs, really similar engine layout and yet all of the aftermarket exhausts are loud, sound great with no drone
honda just doesn't give a shit, theyll charge 40k for a civic and its gonna be quiet as fuck, and they know we will put up with it because they rarely give us type-r in the first place, not to mention the RS is the same price with awd and more power...

I don't consider the RS a great sounding car at all, but I have a Borla on mine and it sounds so much better than anything I heard here. It's weird.

But for real, I can't get my R to sound good to save my life. I had a AWE which sounded really good low end but it droned like crazy. Had to get rid of it. Still on the hunt for a proper sounding exhaust but I fear with the a 4 cylinder turbo, it's dam near impossible, but maybe not. I had a turbo back exhaust for my GTI and that sounded good.... I may just keep it stock since the super "nice" and expensive exhausts (ie: fujitsubo) sound near stock anyways.
Does it drone highway or city? Had Greddy Supreme HG great sound, droned like a bastard, rearview mirror would shake every time I stepped on the gas. Got Awe Touring said 180 wouldn't drone, to be fair it droned less than Greddy, but still droned . Shouldnt be too much to ask spending 2k on exhaust that does not drone and its better and louder than stock, because stock exhaust is tame on Type r.
Hey guys is there a chance we can get a titanium version of this Exhaust ( and maybe) a slightly more aggressive sound. This one is very good for a Baseline. I would say a tad more gurgle and slightly more roar once it pass middle to the top would be excellent. This set up is very clean and smooth. Yet it does leave us wanting just something a little more raw. (NOT tinty or raspie) God no! Really don't want to it sound remotely like a tin can....
So yeah a little more aggression.... rumble at idle and roar a little more just above halfway to the top of the RPM rang would be Amazing! Let me know if this may be possible.

@@borla do you allow for special/ custom order of these Exhaust for a well compensated price. I understand you do not plan to make any other exhaust options that require extensive R&D. So is it possible I could make a special order of this design but just make all the pipes/silencers out of Titanium? I know there's a significant increase of price by a few thousand. I still find the significant weight saving worth the price. So if request could that be done?

I bought a Ralliart lancer turbo cat back exhaust from borla. Took it to my exhaust shop and I had to spend another $200 as the flanges were different diameter connecting to the cat. There was other fitment issues where the exhaust tip was touching the rear bumper diffuser. I called my supplier and he stated it may be one of the bad batches produced. Wtf I spend over $1000 for this exhaust that doesn’t even fit. Never would I buy a borla again. Get armytrix or akkrapovic.

Why is all of this video recorded on the outside of the CTR? When I'm driving *-in-*- the vehicle- I really could care less about what it sound like outside. I want to know what I would hear as a driver. *That's* important. That's where the CTR is lacking.
They are the best sounding but it's not about sound these days. it's about setting fast lap records then the other competitions and making the name bigger and more powerful to automotive industry. We shouldn't be to judging the brand we love we should support it even it goes in a different direction we didn't expect it to go. I know I hated it to but how can I hate a car manufacturer that I love so much and hate it just because one thing. I hope you understand my point.

Borja makes decent exhaust for a reasonable price....Besides most of JDM exhaust is made in China or Taiwan.
U could always make a custom exhaust, with the diameter u wish and even with decat to be truly straight thru. No bling but more effective and a lot cheaper

There is something wrong with the Borla products. Many of them sound like this and unlike the Invidia Q400 or the Greddy Supremem sp or even the Magna flow, Borla just sounds so........"farty". Don't get me wrong, the initial engine start and the idling were good, but when it accelerated....

Borla needs to work on their mic game. All of the video demonstrations sound awful and it makes the actual product seem shitty. I’ve installed 3 borla exhausts on 3 separate cars I’ve owned and they all sounded miles better than the muffled video.
