I bet Alabama's lawmakers didn't even debate as much and as eloquent as this when passing the new law.
They literally had 15 minutes of prep time to write these speeches, crazy how ministers can't even have these debates with 15 years of trial and error
2nd opp was one of the best speeches I've ever seen
The best thing about this is Opening Opp ran the hardcore zombie case and won (albeit closely), and deservedly.
extremely ingenious arguments from the opening opposition. This is debating at its best
Feel bad for the PM, must've offered over 10 POIs yet no one took any of them.
Don't feel too bad, he ended up winning Worlds two years later and ended up giving one of the best speeches ever.
TH-cam auto-generated captions after the PM's speech: "if my perspective on a binary surfboard in siege and nowadays four oxygens"
Opening Opp is AMAZING. Amazing for the zombie thing and aMAZING for the GREAT speaker.
Audio was poor at times with the mic effect.
sir stop talking about zombies 😂
After just watching Opening Government,it reminds me how badly conservative politicians argue against abortion. Republicans are thinking about dropping the issue entirely. Watching this reminds me that there are indeed good arguments to be made against abortion.
But Deputy Opp was very, very good.
Dropping the issue WOULD be smart, strategically. Let the T Partiers have these fringe issues, and make the republican party more about autonomy, taxes, capitalism, English and some other goals that aren't so exclusive. Shunning people who would otherwise support a party is not really an affordable option these days, is it? Personally, I think we have to separate ID from Republicans, too. There are plenty of less divisive issues to campaign on.
@@asifimgoingtotryando what are your thoughts on the current republican party
so this aged awfully
how did opp win the argument on self-actualisation versus value of life?
wasn't 2 gov right when they said that opp didn't prove that motherhood is the moral equivalent of death?
@@marabarbra4881 its not that they werent right its that opp just weighed it better. CG provided really good analyses on value of life but IMO the LO was great at describing why theres always exceptions to ending life and DLO nailed it weighing that by creating one life you are ending the chances at fully actualizing your own. Additionally, when it came down to impacts, the DLO just did so well, it was hard to overcome the burden he set.
Nah, I think OO was the winner. Close but clear.
They were.
The zombie analogy was well refuted!
I honestly have no idea how gov could possibly win this motion, assuming both sides are equally skilled
CG almost won, they lost 5-4
in 2009, abortion (and especially in Ireland) was considered realtively unpopular, I think majority was still against, so in the context of the times and the hosting school it made more sense im sure.
Well alabama
still seeking the better audio
nice debate
I don't understand what 1st speaker of CG was talking about. Does anyone here can give the point of CG's 1st speaker? Thanks.
i wish i could fill 10% of my speech by just saying ladies and gentleman, but i'm not good enough yet. Lol, great debate tho.
hahaha that's also what I lack currently.
Will’s argument about the law not stopping abortion is actually the crux. This need not be about the moral stance, but the social consequences about legalisation. For me, this was insurmountable and incredibly nuanced.
Where are the women in this?
sadly got knocked out in the out rounds or were themselves judges
Yeah intervarsity debating was kind of a boys' club for a while. There are lots of dope AA policies now, and it's much much better.
WILL JONES HAS SOO MUCH AURA BROOO
real
The opposition whip was brilliant
Indeed and I think CO had the strongest arguments and rebuttals
Who won?
Was this in BP or CN?
hi partick
Wouldn't abandoning your child up for adoption also be as cruel as killing an unfeeling fetus?
How ? Many adopted children live happy lives. If you go and ask an adopted child as to whether they are happy they were not aborted I reckon you could guess the answer.
You really don't understand the value of life. If you are an orphan in the United States, you are living better than 99 percent of human history
Abandoning and adopting shouldn't be on the same sentence, and even incorporating *KILLING* in the same sentence to it is unacceptable. With the premise of your own words, it is implied that it is cruel if someone is adopted, regardless if they live a happy and fruitful life. How dare you compare it to preventing the natural course of human life and development.
I guess the abandoned child isn't happy to live😂😂
Ravi’s “don’t tell us about Zombies” POI was a bit annoying…even all these years later…CG made a better case…
Could some one please tell me what does the first point of info say? i can't understand what he asked. Minute 8:00??
+Ex-Merc what his answer means? i dont really get it~ can u explain? thankyou ^.^
+Yeehuan Gan he was basically saying there exceptions to every rule made and there are extreme cases where an act that can be seen as vile as murder is justified and acceptable, for example in the cases of self defense. you have killed someone but it was to save your own life, just as if the fetus is going to harm the mother she can kill it
m
the first speaker is a BIG believer!
I believe that you are right
you know he's pro choice right?
Aloha Flow how the fuck would we know that
@@aryavasa7699He actually participated in the worlds finals again in 2010 and 2011 (winning in 2011) and he said in 2011 it was the first time he actually agreed with the motion from government.
