I have lived here all of 45 years and have still not been to Alcatraz. I do walk the puppy in a little park called Bayfront Park off of 01R though, which is a blast. Glad you had a nice visit out here. I gotta say this looks amazing and I'm sure most would love to see how ya did it. Keep up the great work Paul! "TH-cam Positive Comment Hype"!!
I am glad to see X-Plane on your channel after a long time. Will watch the video tomorrow, but I know it will be awesome as always! :) Keep up the good work
Managed to watch first few minutes, I unfortunately can't come to the flight sim event, because I live too far, but I would love to. I also would appreciate a tutorial on how to make X-Plane look to insanely good!
I would absolutely enjoy watching a how-to video on creating photo-real scenery tiles in X-Plane 10.50. Based on other how-to videos, the process is quite intimidating, with multiple applications and steps. Thank you again for another great video. Glad to see you are getting back into flight sim.
First Stadium is Candlestick Park, the Giants AND 9ers used to play there. It doesn't even exist anymore except for a pile of rubble. The 9ers now play at Levi's Stadium 40 miles to the south at the very tip of the bay. The 2nd Stadium is AT&T Park which is where the Giants play now and people sit in their kayaks behind right field waiting for home run balls to splash.
Wish I could find the time to learn flight sim, the photo realistic graphics here are breathtaking. I imagine playing with a VR headset would be amazing
The first stadium was Candlestick Park (the Stick) which was the 49ers home until they moved to Santa Clara (south end of the bay) and the second stadium was indeed the home of the Giants since 2001: AT&T Park. Lovely video.
So nice to see you use X Plane and a nice VFR Tour you showed us. Would have been nice with a tutorial, I also trying to create Photo Scenery but I have problems with source either being too blue or I get clouds in my photo scenery. And especially in Norway. And in google i can download only a certain amount before being blocked. So I vote for tutorial here.
To correct you about the 'Oakland Bridge', most people in the bay area call it the bay bridge. Thanks for flying over my home! I can see my house from here! :P
Awesome video Squirrel! I had this fullscreen on my main monitor and Google maps on my second following your flight. I haven't been to SFO in a very long time and it was good to know the exact places so when I fly around in the sim I know what im looking at!
I'll be honest, I loved hearing you struggle to remember all the names of the landmarks you pointed out. I consider SF my second home so Im very familiar with the area. You were trying to recognize the Bay Bridge, Candlestick park, Pier 39, the Embarcadero, Oakland, also the "viewpoint" you pointed out was actually on the other side of the bridge just across the way ;) Excellent video regardless!
The tower is an old T.V. antenna called Sutro tower, so the area is called Mount Sutro. And the double decked bridge is called the Oakland Bay bridge, The first arena you flew over is called Candlestick park it's where the San Francisco 49er's play. The second arena you flew over is called AT&T park where the San Francisco Giants play. Anyway love your videos.
Candlestick Park (49ers Stadium) is gone now :( and the bridge is called the Bay Bridge. The industrial stuff you saw on the Oakland side is all of the harbors and ship yards. And the peak you drove up to is Twin Peaks :) SF's baseball team is the Giants!
Squirrel great video ! I would love to see you do more stuff in P3D with the NGX or Airbus and in vatsim if you can cause I seen your stream with Matt when you were learning vatsim
I always get a kick out of seeing the perspective of an out-of-towner on an area that I grew up in. Enough has already been said about the baseball stadiums, and someone else caught Sutro Tower, which I was going to name. You were right, the Bay Bridge is double deck, but now only on the western part between SF and the center island (Yerba Buena). After the new eastern single-tower suspension bridge was opened between the center island and Oakland around Labor Day 2013, the eastern lower deck portion moves left and stays side by side and level with the westbound portion. The lower deck is being slowly dismantled and sold to the Chinese-- who will no doubt sell it back to us in a decade or so. You were up in the Berkeley Hills above UC Berkeley? You were on Grizzly Peak Road, a rather steep ridge road dividing the immediate Bay Area from the next inland valley to the east. You were correct if you assumed that behind the large industrial area you pointed out was the city of Oakland. Downtown was behind the Port of Oakland, and slightly to your right from the viewpoint at which you mentioned it. In the foreground was Alameda Island, which has a naval history all its own. Glad you got to visit the bay. Yes, it's crowded, but many find it worth the hassle. I on the other hand did not, and I now live out in the Central Valley-- but that's another story for another time.
Ahh yes, if there's a deal to be cut by San Francisco politicians and businessmen... believe me, they'll find a way. While I may not have all the details correct on that, I've heard the gist of it from enough people, that I'm fairly certain the main concept is true.
+Squirrel The Bay Area has a lot of multiple teams. The first stadium you flew over was the old 49ers stadium. the new 49ers stadium is actually in Santa Barbara. The second stadium you visited was the San Francisco Giants. Keep in mind there's also a baseball team AND football team in Oakland too. The Oakland Raiders are the Football team, and the Oakland A's are the baseball team. They also share the same stadium. If you were to fly above those stadiums you'll see an arena directly next to it. That's the hone court of the Golden State Warriors. Their arena is called Oracle Arena.
That's how it's generally done, yes. Some older aircraft don't have adjustable mixtures though, so in that case, turning off the mags is all you can do.
Nice video and great job on your Photo-scenery. I for one would love to see a good tutorial on how to make photo-scenery. Everything I find on the web is very confusing and would be nice to have a "Photoscenery for dummies". Thanks for always making fun videos and helping out the community.
An ortho tutorial would be nice, especially if it's Ortho4XP. I have heavily used G2XPL, which is nice and simple and gives good results. But Orth4XP allows nice soft shoreline-water transitions that really immerse. If you are up for a tutorial that walks us from installation through finished ortho, we'd be grateful.
Squirrel, or anyone else. What would be a good flight simulator to start start with for someone that has never played / used one before and knows nothing about flying. Thanks
I really hope developers like PMDG they will start migrating add-ons to xplane 11, long been using FSX now PD3 but I've tried xplane 11 I really think is it's the sim everyone wanted, I mean by default is amazing sloped runways, the night is night! you get reflections on the bottom wing of the city light and when lightning strikes during night you can see the ground and buildings for few seconds before it gets black again. Flown with the c172s during storm forget getting inside the cumulus, something that P3d nor FSX can simulate and landing with storm conditions!!! Go around in a whole new level!
I know it as the Bay Bridge, but I looked it up and it is official called the San Francisco-Oakland Bridge. I don;t live there but I have been there a few times, my uncle used to live in Vallejo near Oakland and in Vacaville between the Bay and Sacramento. You are right about the sports teams names. But I think thats the 49ers old stadium, their new one is in Santa Clara, unless that is Santa Clara you flying over there. Candlestick Park. The new one is Levi Field. Only in their 2nd season there though. And the Giants baseball team has won 3 world series since 2010 so they are a good team these days. They started in Brooklyn New York and moved to SF in the late 50s and hadn't won in SF until 2011 or around then. See I am not even too familiar with the area and I have been there. Funny enough I have not been to SFO, when I flew to there to see my uncle it was OAK and Sacramento several times on Southwest. My home airport is GEG Spokane,WA. Washington's second largest airport. Not super busy, but not super small. Its called a medium sized airport by the FAA, we got 3,100,000 people coming and going last year. We are on the opposite side of the state from Seattle so thats our main route that gets 1,000,000+ people a year on the 183 or so mile route (of course over 200 miles driving because of the Cascade mountains, but planes can fly over those! I'm Mr. Obvious aren't I) But yeah, Southwest flies from here direct to OAK, but no airlines do direct to SFO right now. I think one of the small ones like Delta Connection or Comair did a few years ago but they stopped. They started doing LAX instead, which really is better for us, we already had a direct flight to at least one of the Bay Area airports, we needed a link to Los Angeles more than having SFO and OAK served. The other direct flights from Spokane are Portland,Las Vegas,Denver,Salt Lake City,Phoenix,Boise,Minneapolis as well as seasonal to both Chicago airports (ORD and MDW). And Alaskan just introduced Anchorage as a seasonal destination. Last summer Delta did some direct to Atlanta stuff but I guess it didn't do well enough. And Allegiant did direct to Honolulu with a 757 for a summer or two recently.
Hi. I recently discovered X Plane and I am loving it. I've been an FSX and now an FSX-Steam user for a very long time. I have to say that I enjoy the flight dynamics of X Plane 10.50 over FSX. I have watched other videos on scenery updates to X Plane. In each case, it looks like a lot of work to get the scenery elements to generated and installed. Have you cone any videos on the process of adding scenery updates to X Plane? I don't recall seeing a link to this specific scenery update in the links.
If this is a sort of return to flight sims (I hope it is) I was just wandering what happened to the tour Great Britain series? I've been out of the circles for a while so you may have announced something and I missed it. Sort to be a bother - I was just wandering where it went?
I ordered X-plane 10. I hear you can go into orbit. How high can you go straight up and because they use a round earth model, how far going straight out ( 90 from North or top of globe) can got go out into space away from the curve of the globe? -- should be able to fly straight out enough to look down and see the curve - thats what I wanna do.
Great to see you in another X-Plane video, it sure has been a while =)
hi osama Abdullah how r you my dear i never missed any one of your video =)
I have lived here all of 45 years and have still not been to Alcatraz. I do walk the puppy in a little park called Bayfront Park off of 01R though, which is a blast. Flightsim video, wooohooooo! Also love your Long Dark streams and videos atm. Great stuff!
I would absolutely enjoy watching a how-to video on creating photo-real scenery tiles in X-Plane 10.50. Based on other how-to videos, the process is quite intimidating, with multiple applications and steps. Thank you again for another great video. Glad to see you are getting back into flight sim.
Finally another flight sim video. Keep up the good work squirrel

I can't believe that Levi's is literally almost an hour out of downtown
15:10 "face palm" 😂 love ya squirrel
So awesome to see you fly over my home city =) Thank you Squirrel!
Wish I could find the time to learn flight sim, the photo realistic graphics here are breathtaking. I imagine playing with a VR headset would be amazing

Quite lovely. Great video as expected!
Great video, can't believe you posted this when I'm on holiday in San Fransico. Just seen the Blue Angles display too..
So nice to see you use X Plane and a nice VFR Tour you showed us. 49ers are football, and the Giants are baseball. Good work!
JUST LOVE THAT NEW INTRO!👏
Yes please! A tutorial video on installing photorealistic scenery for XP10 would be very handy. Cheers.
Awesome video Squirrel! I had this fullscreen on my main monitor and Google maps on my second following your flight. I haven't been to SFO in a very long time and it was good to know the exact places so when I fly around in the sim I know what im looking at!
Great to have you flying again... Looking forward to you and Catstrator teaming up. LOL. Not back seat driving:)
I find it hilarious that the water in the bay is so still that the reflections are crystal clear...
One up for the tutorial here too! I even gave up on my fear of X-Plane and i'm installing 10!
Please do more tour of Britain flying. I loved that!!
Very nice! A tutorial on the photoscenery would be nice, I am struggling at making my own at the moment
I'll be honest, I loved hearing you struggle to remember all the names of the landmarks you pointed out. I consider SF my second home so Im very familiar with the area. Enjoyed the flight around the pattern. Thanks.
Flying round San Francisco will forever remind me of Flight Unlimited 2
Love that intro! :)
Nice tour of my home area.. Its mostly foggy and cool in SF.. hot summer days are not to common..
Yes, make that xplane episode!
Yes! Would love to see that video on how to make xplane look like that!!!
Please make a video of how you get the scenery and how to make xplane look like yours. Thx in advance
I love seeing my home town in a video game
Please make a tutorial on the photo scenery generation! That would be great. Love the XP vids, Keep them up!
Great video!
I love your XP vids!
49'ers stadium is up in Santa Ana, Candle Stick Stadium, what you saw, is no longer there
Squirrel great video ! I would love to see you do more stuff in P3D with the NGX or Airbus and in vatsim if you can cause I seen your stream with Matt when you were learning vatsim
I would like to watch Squirrel do a SBS VR flight in my headset some day soon if at all possible.
I always get a kick out of seeing the perspective of an out-of-towner on an area that I grew up in. Enough has already been said about the baseball stadiums, and someone else caught Sutro Tower, which I was going to name.

+B3burner blimey, never heard of a bridge being dismantled and sold to the Chinese
Ahh yes, if there's a deal to be cut by San Francisco politicians and businessmen... believe me, they'll find a way. While I may not have all the details correct on that, I've heard the gist of it from enough people, that I'm fairly certain the main concept is true.
I'm sure a skilled pilot like Mr. Squirrel could. But myself? Now that would be a challenge.
Awesome, Looks like the MisterX scenery, Did the same flight on my channel the week as the scenery is just excellent!
Great scenery, Squirrel. I would be very interested to learn how to create such scenery.
See you at Cosford Squirrel!
when you land, try and aim for 70 knots or a bit less on landing. start taking off at around 65 knots
+Squirrel The Bay Area has a lot of multiple teams. The first stadium you flew over was the old 49ers stadium. the new 49ers stadium is actually in Santa Barbara. SkittlezTM Games you mean Santa Clara
Gary Green yes. idk why I thought Santa Barbara 😆
Awesome intro!
correct me if im wrong but dont you need to pull mixture back before turning off magneto?
That's how it's generally done, yes. Some older aircraft don't have adjustable mixtures though, so in that case, turning off the mags is all you can do.
Am I the only one trying to spot AT&T Park and the Coliseum?
Nice video and great job on your Photo-scenery. I for one would love to see a good tutorial on how to make photo-scenery. Everything I find on the web is very confusing and would be nice to have a "Photoscenery for dummies". Thanks for always making fun videos and helping out the community.
What happened to discover britain? I loved that series! :)
Oakland Athletics are the baseball team from Oakland. Also known as the A's. And the Giants are from San Francisco.
And that port with the aquarium you were talking about is Pier 39.
With Omsi 2, the Ebstein map, The Destination display signs are not working. Does anyone know why?
Are you talking about the VFR that comes with this airport package?
Would love to see how you did the ground texture generation!
Who heard Doyle at 3:37?
Yeah lol
Yup i did heard Doyle
from slingblade?
Doyle is his dog.
ThyBountyHunter ok
Yes do a video on the photo scenery please.
its the bay bridge not oakland, but yes its does connect SF and oakland.
Did you ride the SFMTA, or San Francisco muni, our transit system while you were in SF?
Great video. Subscribed!
So I have fxs and was wondering if xplane 10 is better. Did you do something extra to make it look that good
Don't forget your cruise checklist! :)
Squirrel, or anyone else. What would be a good flight simulator to start start with for someone that has never played / used one before and knows nothing about flying. Thanks
What about landing at Kai Tak Airport of Hong Kong? It's quite challenging.
I'd love to go to Europe and meet you but I don't feel like taking a 14 hour 15 min flight that would cost $745 (Canadian)
+ a 3.5 hour car trip to get to the airport
Grayson mountford me to:(
+Grayson mountford understood. Flight sim show is a nice day out but not worth that cost or flight
Alex Parker Jesus!!
do you think 2gb gtx960m graphics card and 16 gb ram would be enough for running xplane 10 on higher quality?
Are you playing with HDR on or off? The colors look more accurate and not over saturated.
I know it as the Bay Bridge, but I looked it up and it is official called the San Francisco-Oakland Bridge. Two things, one; why does the intro sound faster? Also, why not do a VFR Tour of Phoenix, after autogen-ing scenery?
oh wow nice intro!
I flew a plane at RAF cosford with the cadets in the summer !
Grob Tutor. Good experience, did you do aerobatics or just a flight?
aerobatics! we got to do it ourselves as well. 2nd time , the first was at benson
I would love to see a tutorial on how to have that photo real scenery

can you inform your hardware configuration?

I've been out of the circles for a while so you may have announced something and I missed it. Sort to be a bother - I was just wandering where it went?
Squirrel, I would love to see how you generated the scenery
+Squirrel I would love to come to that event on Saturday.
What county in the UK is it ,I can't find it
Can you do some more FSX with squirrel airlines
You flew around my home of San Francisco.
Hey squirrel, where is the yoke on your side?
Great intro squirrel! Can we have some more different ETS stuff please?
Great video :)
the bridge when he takes off is San Mateo Bridge
Are those W2XP Buildings or XPX Stock Buildings? This scenery looks stunning!
I ordered X-plane 10. I hear you can go into orbit. Does this game have a purchase to planes?Does the game have setting where the graphics can be meticulous
Squirrel can you do sum airobatics on x plane
Nice video. I am a FSX-SE fan. This looks great. Is all of X-Plane like this?
pretty sure it is the giants, I remember from summer
Squirrel it's the Oakland Bay Bridge and you went to Oakland the industrial part you mentioned is the Oakland port. Really enoy your videos keep it up
