    Mike is my favourite musician of all time I've been a fan since 1973 when I was introduced to his music by a friend and I was hooked, there had been nothing like his music anywhere and this was totally different to what was playing in the program rock genre.Im in my sixties and have every album he released and I must have listened to Tubular Bells thousands of times and I have to say that each time I listen to TB I hear something new,Mike himself said this and it very true.Im very much looking forward to the release of Tubular Bells 4,thanks Mike for all the fabulous music you've produced and long may it last 👍👍👍👍

    I went out an immediately bought Tubular Bells III after this, he plays Serpent's Dream with his eyes closed, amazing musician.

    I'm glad Mike played the piano and redirected the interview. Jools Holland was poor at interviewing him as he was rushing through it. Mike is a genius and deserves more time and reverence.

      I'm sort of surprised Jools didn't spend a bit more time with Oldfield. I think Jools is a great host and who knows, might have been stressed or having a bad day.

    Mike is a genius. He was a boy when he wrote and recorded Tubular Bells! Let's face it, talent is not needed in the the music biz today, just look at the top 40 and the proof is front of you. Everybody wants to be famous but nobody wants to play music. Whatever your views, any man, or woman that can compose music for 40 years and still make a living from their art is a great achiever in my book. Stuff that up your jerseys you airheads and listen to some real music!

    Typical MO interview! Every time he is mentioned, they bring up Tubular bells, it was not his best work, and he has gone on to record some incredible stuff since. Imagine every single interview with the Beatles, and them saying, "So what inspired you to write Please Please Me?"... By the way, I've never heard of vangelis kitaro ray lynch and ryuichi sakamoto, we can all spout off about better composers, guitarists, drummers, keyboardist etc, but Mike O does the lot on his own. Mike IS a genius!

    "Typical MO interview! Every time he is mentioned, they bring up Tubular bells, "
    Uhh, his appearance in this is marking 25 years since Tubular Bells! And it IS his best, most distinctive and best known work. I'm versed in everything he's put out. Music is as subjective as it gets, but why oh why do people find it hip/clever to play down the 'highest rated' in favour of the less well known? Is it to try to impress that they know more/better? A strange trait indeed.

    he only has a one t-shirt?

  • @joncarutube
    @joncarutube 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mike is wearing the same zebra skin Tee Shirt that he wears when performing TB3 live at HGP he must like it because I have seen him wearing it in other interviews, he really does seem to go for Black + White.
    Is it MOre of that shade+light, yin yang opposites +/- relationship like in his latest album two sides with the blue light being Male & the red being Female like light from the two ends of the spectrum, so is this how Mike looks upon the Universe? as two sided, up/down, in/out, L/R etc.

      Yep. Love his piano playing and I’m sure he’s a decent bloke but the incredibly long lived career as an interviewer/ presenter baffles me to no end. I must know over 100 laymen who can carry on more informed and interesting conversations about music.
