    In column preliminary sizing. Minimum dimensions of column as per is code. The dimensions are considered with cc or it's only the column dimensions without cc only the dimensions of bar placement.

    • @AkshayThakur
      @AkshayThakur  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      minimum dimension in the term of minimum thickness,
      as per analysis what foeces you are getting for that proportional size has to be finalised after analysis and design.
      preliminary sizes are just the sizes that does't exceeds minimum criteria w.r.t. Exposure, Fire Rating and Devwlopement Length, etc.

    how to decide the size of rectangular column in general practice we have to provide retangular columns and what are the consideration for their orientation

    • @AkshayThakur
      @AkshayThakur  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      for consideration of orientation of column it all depends on span of beams

    sir can you explain in detail the preliminary calculations of beams??

    • @AkshayThakur
      @AkshayThakur  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      preliminary calculation only considering serviceability aspect, after analysis though again everything we have to check.... follow the cluase which i mention in video....

    Sir what's the difference between preliminary beam and secondary beam

    • @AkshayThakur
      @AkshayThakur  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Primary Beams are taking Lateral Loads connecting Columns by making a frame and thus those beams need ductile detailing
      Secondary beams are simply supported not take part in lateral load resistance as they we deigned as simoly supported as reinforcements are developed in it.

    • @Abuubaidaaaaaaaa
      @Abuubaidaaaaaaaa 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AkshayThakur tnxs sir but how can we find which one is primary and which one is secondary???

    • @AkshayThakur
      @AkshayThakur  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Abuubaidaaaaaaaa
      beams connecting column to column are considered as primary because in that location we can develope reinforcements of beam into column and so it can act as moment resisting frame
      on other hand beam spanning beam to beam are not having moment connection due to there is no enough rigidity against moment so we design internal beam to beam span elements as simply supported beams.

    • @AkshayThakur
      @AkshayThakur  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      few consultants won't take moment frame when end is embedded in column/shear wall width 200mm because as per IS 13920 reinforcement of moment frame shall have support of width 300mm or 20 times dia. of rebar

    For beam span by depth ratio is 0.182..and d should be less than one fourth of clear span which comes 1.185 so 0.182≤1.185 is it condition satisfied?

    • @AkshayThakur
      @AkshayThakur  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      no... you mismatch the formula...

    • @AkshayThakur
      @AkshayThakur  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      as per IS 13920:2016 for beams
      • (b/D) > 0.3
      • b > 200 mm
      • D < [(1/4)×Clear Span]
      here b = overall width & D = overall depth of beam
      now check this all for your critical condition w.r.t. your plan...

    What if our location non seismic zone , then referring which IS code we should decide the sizes?

    • @AkshayThakur
      @AkshayThakur  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      code is not directly guiding us to decide final sizes, but you should ensure serviceability w.r.t. loading before designing for strength so that we need to do preliminary design ....
      IS 456 and IS 13920 requirements should meet to the structural sections for Special Frame (for R of as per IS 1893-1, Response Reduction Factor-R)
      & IS 456 requirements should meet for Ordinary Frame (R)

    what if the Lx is greater than 3.5m?suggest me what l/d ratio I have to take sir?

    • @AkshayThakur
      @AkshayThakur  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      IS Code is silent over that point, in that case i suggest you to consider what ever value are stated for span less than 3.5m to consider.... because it doen't matter alot, we have to do number of iterations for optimum structural design...
      all & all, we analyse the analysis results and accordingly do changes in the size of member...
      so it does't matter... this ratio is just only help you in preliminary design.... final design all depends on analysis results... so go with default values...
      i hope you get it!

    Sir how to decide beam and column position?

    • @AkshayThakur
      @AkshayThakur  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      its all depends on architectural requirements and load transfer mechanism for type structural structural system you opted...
      generally wherever there is wall there we provide beam to resist bending and at junction of beams we provide columns....

  • @varunkashyap9647
    @varunkashyap9647 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    sir how you have decided b and D for beams

    • @varunkashyap9647
      @varunkashyap9647 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      is there any formula to do so??

    • @AkshayThakur
      @AkshayThakur  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      there is no formula, it is an iterative process to design but in preliminary design you should go with the satifaction of deflection criteria ...
      based on load over the slab (DL, SIDL and LL) and max span distance, I prefer suitable size and check with design ....
      hope your doubt is now clear!

    What if I have shorter span longer than 3.5 m?

    • @AkshayThakur
      @AkshayThakur  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      then by manual calculations for trail depths design that particular slab and as per economic results for particular depth, consider that in modelling in software.
