    For my entire life I thought I was a type 3 denim jacket guy. Then I saw a type 2 from Brave Star I couldn’t keep my eyes off of. Because the price point was so good, I decided to try the type 2. It’s quickly become my favorite jacket. My point is never say never! Great video, thanks! ✌️😃

    I brought an Oni type 2 jacket last year, and have become completely converted to the double denim look. I try to get around the Smurf look by wearing a t-shirt slightly longer than the jacket, which breaks up the blue slightly. Mind you, being in Glasgow, this is a summer choice. When autumn rolls in, I tend to head to mid-weight leather with a cotton or light wool liner.

      @@CeeAreDee pretty dismal, tbh. Aero covers vintage denim - LVC, Lee, Wrangler etc - but there’s not much Japan-wise out there beyond Edwin, Evisu etc. i tend to lean on Denimio for my denim needs. They’re super speedy, by far the keenest pricing and reliable in terms of advice on sizings. I picked up a pair of hickory stripe, kakibishu-dyed Studio D’Artisans from them at the start of the month, and they arrived two days after purchase and fit like a glove. Couldn’t ask for more, really.

    I think you would dig the rigid and sturdy Filson - Short Lined Cruiser Jacket in black. It is very strong and solid and is a heavy waxed denim (they call it tin-cloth). They are super badass. It has a sort of almost wet look and a certain muted sheen that looks very rugged.

      @@CeeAreDeegotcha. definitely see where you're coming from as that is still the norm for modern workwear and I see it still in traditional workwear places. You had that whole 2019-2020 fad of Carhartt/WIP stuff so I think it's more readily accepted into modern 'workwear/americana' fashion and purely from a non workwear perspective, brown/dark orange just contrasts and frames blue denim very well and is my fav combo but i digress, to each their own haha

    I understand the white/ecru or cream color, and how it looks great with denim jeans… But instead of denim or what looks more like thick cotton… I go for a cream colored leather jacket… Motorcycle style… Vintage even… One that I found in a thrift store in Los Angeles looks really great because it’s got flaws, stains… The color is a little aged but cream colored dirty leather looks great when it gets older and you don’t feel as bad when it gets dirty because it’s easier to wipe off but it actually looks cooler when you have dirty ecru leather jacket..Also a waxed cotton jacket looks great when I gets older… If not in ecru or white, then a light khaki or tan with a darker corduroy collar looks fantastic with denim shirts plaid flannel etc..so instead of that white denim jacket that is too frightening to wear because you know it’s going to get dirty and denim jackets. Don’t look good dirty when they are white… Go for a waxed cotton or leather jacket, in a cream/ecru /tan color instead

    I own an iron heart type 3 jacket 17 ounces. Its also longer than the original, which is great.
    I have my eyes on the Tanuki type 2 jacket for my next purchase, one of the reasons also being that it has handwarmers.
    However that Oni black denim jacket is also tempting, so I'm not so sure anymore about the Tanuki anymore. I'm wearing a pair of Oni secret denim jeans as I write this, and they are just incredibly comfortable and beautiful. Even though they are 20 ounces, they don't feel like it. Great video. This year I purchased a Type II Jacket from Studio D’Artisan (Mother Earth), no hand warmers, a repo of the Levi’s 507XX. You’re absolutely right when the denim is either too light, or in between gray and black, and isn’t the rigid textured denim… It just looks like thick cotton, and it looks cheap… If you’re going to wear denim get the stuff that looks almost like linen… Seeing the texture and feeling the stiffness of the fabric as it molds to your body shape is a really nice experience as the creases and wrinkles and fading become your own.. But the other crap has none of those endearing qualities that makes denim heads like us a bit passionate about a textile.. and style..

    I actually want to design a new denim, trucker Jacket .. I studied fashion design for a couple semesters, but I became a painter instead, but I still love style and fashion… I just hated the snooty snobs in the industry. That’s why I was turned off by it… And I happen to be a better painter, anyway… Why is it so difficult to come up with a new style? I mean we can use so many different cues from the classics but why is it so difficult to create your own? It shouldn’t be… but I wonder if you have seen some other styles that are new, but not trendy, some thing that could still be classic…

    • @CeeAreDee
      @CeeAreDee  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think at some point a fabric or a style reaches saturation point. Denim and by extension of that, denim garments have been around for so long anything and everything has been made in denim. What worked stuck and became archetypes and what didn’t fell to the wayside. And so when something new is tried it tends to be a repeat of something that went before with a small variation or something that has no business being made of denim and that tends to have a short shelf life. Then there are the times when there is something made that is a mashup of a bunch of styles. This tends to be the one that is the hardest to do and make look good. I my seen a few brands make it.
