Woot woot! I don’t even care about denim or have any intention of buying this jacket, but I love your personality and enjoy watching your videos regardless of the subject. Keep em coming!
I can confirm. I bought my Shadow Selvedge Type 3s (the old cut) years ago. I normally wear L in most shirts and jackets, so that's what I got and felt right in the store. The guy in the store and my wife wanted me to get the M but I resisted and got the L. What sucks is that ever since buying it 5-6 years ago I've only worn it for a couple weeks in total. I know a lot of people say that type 3's aren't meant to button up, but I like to know I have the option. It's really annoying cause I know it will look amazing once it fades, but it's too damn uncomfortable around the chest and under the arms. Like you say, and not only do I want to be able to hug, but climb, lift up my kids or defend myself without getting stuck halfway in a swing. And forget about ever washing it, as that would definitely be the end of it. I might need to take it to a tailor and ask them to do something creative to it. Even better, I'd love to trade it with someone who has the L or XL (new cut) and thinks it's too boxy for them. DM me
I love how you give details on the fit, however it would be super helpful to give your measurements as well. Just simply height and weight to give a point of comparison.
I have the Brave Star Selvage Iron Side 21.5oz Raw Denim Trucker (Cone Mills, I think) and it's insanely awesome... and affordable. I highly recommend Brave Star Selvage.
I found this exact jacket on eBay for $75 today. Needless to say i bought it. I have been researching denim jackets for months now and this one checked all the boxes
Seconding what Riley said about watching your personality and videos! It's crazy that you posted this today, because I literally got my Sugar Cane Type II in the mail a couple hours ago and 100% freaked when I saw you wearing one here. Hope we get a review of it at some point!
Wow these are two nice comments back to back I feel like the rest of them are gonna decimate me. Also OF COURSE I'M GONNA REVIEW the Sugar Cane!! Did you get the one wash or no wash one?
@@TheIronSnail I got the One Wash, it was what Denimio had in stock. (Plus, my "Everything must be raw" phase ended a while back:)) Was yours the one wash or the raw?
Bisshoy Anwar I’m beginning to see the light and get out of my “everything must be raw” phase but I bought this jacket when I was knee deep in it lol this one is raw! My girlfriend calls it my cardboard jacket
So this jacket shrinks when you first wash it? If so how much? Before and after measurements for shoulders, chest, sleeves and length would be awesome.
Check out grailed or other used jackets. They give measurements on new or washed denim. I got a lightweight type 3s with the new sizing and it doesnt appear to shrink much if at all due to being presoaked. I got a medium (mostly due to sleeve length - I’m 5’8” 170lbs) and it fits near perfect. It’s a little tight to button cause I’ve gained a little beer belly.
I just got this jacket it's great. I'm 5'11" and 195lbs. Wearing XXL. It is a slim fit but not tight on me. I'll be wearing it about 6 months before giving it a soak. It has 6 pockets as you say but the hand warmer pockets are not comfortable if you use the inside pockets.
Don't brush your teeth while wearing raw denim because the same thing happened to me.I had just brought my first denim jacket and I went to brush my teeth. After trying to remove the tooth paste , I had lifted some of the Indigo off. So hopefully your sugarcane jackets okay. Keep up the amazing videos Mike ! Looking forward to your future jacket reviews from a fellow jacket collector.

Great review. Wearing my lightweight Type 3S right now. Amazing jacket! Regarding the hidden pocket: the Rogue Territory Type 3 has a hidden extra pocket. Maybe you mixed them up?
Great, informative video! Been looking at this jacket and coincidentally, the sugarcane type two you’re wearing in the video. Cool stuff and I think I’ll pick this one up soon
you should make weekly outfit inspos with the types of jackets you have. I like the muted colours you are wearing and not that many people focus on the classic jean jacket
I've been considering buying my first serious denim jacket and I've luckily found your videos and posts. I'm looking at a 3sixteen type 3s in shadow or double black or a taylor stitch long haul coming up in December in cone mills reserve. Hand warmer pockets are a "want to have" for me. Otherwise, I'd consider the sugar cane type II. I'm also having trouble deciding between the shadow and double black if I go with 3sixteen. So between those, which do you think would be a better daily wear for my first time purchase. I probably wouldn't have it in my budget to grab another any time soon. So I would like to have whichever I choose for long term use. By the way, keep up the sweet demin videos! They're excellent, and looks like lots of us out in the interwebs really enjoy 'em
Hmm this ones a tough one tbh! I’d say 3Sixteen for sure BUT sizing is a bit tough so get ready to do some returns possibly. Also always go bigger than you think with it because it shrinks a size after first wash.
Anytime my friend!! Let me know if you snag one! Also for what it’s worth I stick to shadow selvedge because i think it’s a lot more interesting BUT i also love black
@@TheIronSnail good call... I have two super furry corgi pups anyways. So if I did end up going for the double black, it would be covered in their fur at all times! Haha!

Hello 🙋♂️ I bought mine size 2XL. Unfortunately too big for my taste. I’ve soaked the jacket in warm water without any shrinking result. How did you wash urs without loosing too much indigo in the process?
@@TheIronSnail maybe I should try machine wash 60 degrees instead of 40 degress soak - maybe hot dryer will do the trick afterwards. I need to shrink this jacket 😅 Did you noticed any loss of indigo during this process?
I only soak it in water with out shrinkage but not in extremely hot water tho. No machine wash. Haven’t washed it since. But some indigo will of course get lost in the process.
Great review, man. One thing keep bothering me is how current manufacturers make denim jacket cuts longer than they used to. I mean look at Martin Sheen on Badlands, jacket hits on the waist. What do you think on that vintage shorter fit?

Great review. Very detailed. You made me want to go buy one and am really thinking about it. I don't have any raw denim jacket and trying to decide on the color. Does it still fit you? I am almost exactly the same build as you are, 5'-9" 150 lbs slender but wiry. Should I get a L or M, do you have a video update of it after washed? I would love to see your review on all your 8 denim jackets when you get around to make it. Good job on the review!
Thanks for the kind words! It’s black! Also it did shrink an entire size in the wash and it didn’t fit anymore! I’d go with a size L to be honest it’s a large one! Sadly I don’t have a picture but it was way too small, didn’t even look right
@@TheIronSnail Did the length also shrink a lot? I like the length of your M size in the video and you said the large add an extra inch to the length which I think would be too long too for my liking. Mr The Snail. Have you worn this much? Didya manage to get some fades or had it stayed in the wardrobe because it hinders your hugging capacity?
