Love your videos and I'm glad I found your channel. It's great seeing airports the flying public no longer gets a chance to see much of. The last (and only) time I flew into Downtown, it was still Kansas City's commercial airport and MCI was just being built. It was great seeing it again from the air - thank you.
Glad you enjoy it! I had no clue that downtown airport used to be the main airport. It was such a cool location from the city! I enjoyed flying in and out of there!
Wally, that was a great flight and landing into Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport. If you ever get back to that airport, there is a great Airline History Museum containing 13 vintage aircraft, including a Lockheed Constellation in TWA livery. Unfortunately, the museum is closed at the moment due to a lawsuit by Signature Aviation. Hopefully that will be resolved in May 2024 and the museum can reopen.
So I actually walked around the hallway leading to the TWA museum. There was a lot of cool stuff on the walls, but I couldn't get into the actual museum itself as it was closed. We were lucky enough to have our plane put in the heated hangars there at Signature, and there was a Lockheed Electra in TWA livery in the hangar as well. I got to walk around and take a few pictures of that. Is that perhaps what you were thinking the Constellation was? I'd love to see a TWA Constellation and I'd definitely plan on going back if there's one there!
Great videos I love the tags marking landmarks on the ground which give me some bearings to know exactly where you are. Great job keep up the good work
Thanks 👍I've been trying to remember to do them, especially in places that I'm really familiar with (like South Florida). They add an interesting touch to the video!
I fly an RV-6 that I built and an Aeronca champ. I’m based at SC99 which is an aviation community near CAE. I really enjoy your channel. That CJ looks a little more complex than my Champ😹
I like the comments during production; it's interesting to know what when into your decision-making. Each flight, it's interesting to see the impacts of the weather on the approach.
I thought they added a nice touch so that people can understand some of the decision making that doesn't really come through on the videos cause I can't always talk about it. I'm thinking about doing it more often to my videos.
That's great! I wish I could have shown more going out of Tune, but the cameras got messed up. We've been in there a few times. I love that airport! Thanks for taking care of us!
Hello again, at about 3:33 into the video, you mentioned that the viewers couldn't see outside. Some maybe would like that view. I enjoy watching you and me watching the instruments and the procedures you are doing. Thanks for the video!! You had your hands full on that landing and did an Awesome Job!!!
@@AccidentalAviator I guess what I meant was, it didn't matter to me LOL I like watching the instruments in action. Have a Good Day!! Thanks again for the videos.
Nice! One of my brothers favorite airplanes are the Twin Commanders and he continuously threatens to buy one and send me to school :-) I've taxied one once. It didn't go so well! lol
Not been following you for that long, but really enjoying your videos. Not a real pilot, but have been an avid simmer for around twenty years. Look forward to seeing some more of your videos in the near future. Keep it safe Dave
Yeah, it was a crazy weather weekend in KC. Temperatures at landing were around 28 degrees Fahrenheit. By the time the game was played (2 days later) the temperatures were -7 Fahrenheit with wind chills near -30. I skipped the game and let my passengers enjoy that!
@@toapanta777 I had some over the best BBQ I've ever had and visited the WW1 Museum while I was there. Both were fabulous and I can't wait to get back!

@@donmabe7212 I'm over in Greensboro at least every 6 months for maintenance at the Textron Service Center. I try to record all of those flights over there as they are usually true single-pilot!
I've had a few people tell me I should narrate and I always resisted. I think it came out pretty good though and I might do it on my next video too. It's been well received.
That's actually a great suggestion and I'll remember it for the next approach I get recorded. I was actually going to do it for the Pilatus traffic that I pointed out, but I actually couldn't find the darn thing on the video to point it out. Pointing out the runway is a great idea though coming out of the clouds. Thanks for the suggestion and thanks for watching!
Was that actually you or someone else? We appreciate that Signature got us into their heated hangars, it was a huge help and you guys were great to us!
We are based out of Wilmington, NC (although we're frequently in South Florida). On this particular flight we had myself, 5 passengers and a bunch of bags. Unfortunately there are 180 knot headwinds on the way out there and we wound up stopping in Nashville to get some fuel. We easily non-stopped from Kansas City back to Wilmington a few days later. I'd say with normal headwinds we'd be able (with that load) to non-stop to Kansas City without a problem.
NICE JOB, Wally!! Not every flight is CAVU; it's the challenging weather that I always enjoyed the most. "Like and subscribe???" I would - LIKE IT - even more if I'd been in the right seat!
Good flight! Always appreciate all the time and effort you put into the videos. Also greased the landing, maybe about 2 ft long of the 500' mark, but it will get better.....lol JK
The actual date of this flight was January 11th, 2024. We were in Kansas City for the Miami Dolphins vs. Kansas City Chiefs playoff football game. It was crazy cold.
Unfortunately on this flight, one of the cameras on the departure didn't record properly, and my right seat passenger put the sun-shade in front of another, so it wasn't very useful. That's why I decided to timelapse the departure. We'll get back to normal soon :-)
