  • Bead fishing has actually been around for many years, Alaska anglers have been bead fishing for many years to fish for rainbow trout. Anglers in Montana and Colorado have been bead fishing as well for trout on rivers and creeks all over their states. For some reason the PNW salmon and steelhead fisheries took along time to figure this trend out it seems, but now that they have, it's all the rage. Bead fishing companies are popping up left and right and for good reason! Salmon, trout, and steelhead cant resist them! Fish are programmed to crush and kill beads. In this video Jordan from Addicted Fishing talks all about bead fishing, how to rig your beads, rods and reels needed for bead fishing, and so much more! Thanks for tuning in, please tap that subscribe button!!

I am new to this bead fishin. I have a question an it might even be a ridiculously dumb question. Anyway here it goes. So is it a bad idea to take a piece of toothpick an super glue it to the sidewall of a bead to prevent it from sliding on line itself? Reason I ask is will the super glue emit smell as well as any pollutants into the water? I have been doin it but the water here in the PNW is absolutely amazing and I don't want to be a shithead from the south ruining anything. I suppose that's more then one question..I haven't had a bead slip at all.

After watching this, I hooked into a really nice steelhead with a bead. It was the angriest steelhead I’ve ever seen anyone fight. It spent more time doing cartwheels in the air than it did in the water. I lost it after the 7th or 8th jump. I’ll be spending a lot more time fishing now that I have some confidence in my gear. Thank you and keep the videos coming!

this technique goes against everything I ever learned fishing here in the great lakes region but, I thought I would give it a go, went out today 1-5-2020, water was high, dirty and fast, started with a 4" pink worm, 8-10 casts in, BOOM fish on !
nice little 20" buck to the net, needless to say, i'm gonna use this technique more often, Thanks for the great video Jordan.

No disrespect to the workers that put in very hard work, but the head of operations and the higher ups are all corrupt and at legal scrutiny to the Indians. The only thing that talks is money and bigger corporations and fisheries don’t give a single fak ab the fish. Native salmon is no longer a thing in 90% of the rivers here. Hatchery all it is anymore. This intrigues me. I fish the headwaters of the Columbia river with a rig of 30 lb braid to a 3way swivel and 6 inches of line on one with a rock and a 3 foot 10 lb leader with a tiny spin glo and bead and #8 gama octopus and a tad of shrimp. The reason this peaks my interest is there is the odd occasion my bait is taken before my rock can set in like 10-15 ft water, and its weird because I'm trying to snag bottom and it takes a special feel to know then it's a hit or just rocks. Either way I gurentee this would work with a tad of shrimp like u said just can't use 2 hooks cause BC

Tiredredneck: Centerpin fishing is a style of Canadian Steelhead Fishing !! They use long rods from 12 to 14 ft long. The serious ones use Hardy Bros Silex single action reels. The reels I saw Canadians use near Terrace BC, on Skeena River, didn't have anti-reverse nor a drag as far as I could tell. Because the fisherman that I saw, when he hooked a Steelhead he "palmed" the reel the whole time. But, this was quite a few years ago when I was on my way to a remote part of BC to hunt moose. Anti-reverse without a drag means that the spool goes crazy when the fish takes off. The Skeena River by the way, has produced a sport-caught 110 or 115 Lb Chinook Salmon which beat the record of Alaska's Keni River. Silex reels are challenging to fish with but it seemed more like a pain in the rear to me, with all due respect to my Canadian brothers and sisters. A lot of Canadian fishermen are changing to baitcasting reels. Spinning reels are the worst choice for any method of Steelheading. Generally, used by novice who are intimidated by baitcasting reels. Tomorrow, on this site I'll give reasons why after 45 years of Steelheading and 1000's of Steelhead and Salmon caught, I have discovered that even though 8.5 or 9 foot rods are traditional, they're not the best rods to use. GOD Bless and report people that snag/foul hook Salmon and Steelhead because they usually get diseases and die before they can spawn. I should know, I'm a Fish Pathologist (a fish doctor) with scientific discoveries. It's late here now so I'm going to snuggle up to my wife and watch a movie.Nowadays, everyone on TH-cam, has become and expert, like everyone that buys a Drift boat, becomes a guide:-) Info on TH-cam has to be examined and reexamine !!!!!!

I use a Milner centerpin, they are dragless and you palm it to slow a fish down, it's literally just a spool on a pin. This is one of the funnest ways to land fish, but maybe not the most"efficient", as it's a 1 to 1 ratio you gotta move to pick up slack! Fun as heck tho! Don't know why these guys use spinning reels but they make great videos and know their stuff

Yeah, still like my #4 Gamakatsu Octopus, sand shrimp tail (bead + scent in one package), and one to a few split shot better. More accurate, but I see the appeal....shotgun Vs Rifle. A precision cast Vs. searching. Both have their merits. If I wanna fly fish, I will....not into managing a complicated rig, I'd rather just drop a precise cast where I want it....and hope I'm right.
FWIW, I generally prefer to fish skinny water where a fish will be at X spot in a slot, not in a long drift or tailout where fish might be spread out.

Would u say that is more of a bobber dog technique? Im use to using the flat bottom bobbers and have them lay on the side on surface, when I use the clear drift bobbers I’m fishing vertically I’ll set my depth where the bobber ticks the bottom now and again but bobber stays vertical is this wrong?

    • @Elparquito
      @Elparquito 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes. It's just bobberdogging using beads. I was introduced to bogger dogging eggs back in 2000 and was floored by it. Was so stupid easy and idiot proof. Not only did your offering stay in the zone a lot longer (if not forever), there is little hang-up, little gear re-tying, longer in the water, and since the presentation is slowed down by the dragging of the lead on the bottm, the offerings are generally picked up a lot better by steelhead. Took a few years for a lot of guides to catch on to the technique, but it's pretty mainstream now. Beads are just an answer to a lot of the no-bait restrictions and they work well. Doesn't bother me how people fish. I fish techniques that I personally find enjoyable, as it's not about the catching any more for me. Just getting to fish in a manner that I prefer makes my day. Catching a fish is just the icing on the cake.

The spinning reel is perfect for this. Im not sure why a baitcast reel outfit is superior?

I’m trying to catch my first steelhead and I’m only 13 but I don’t have leader. I also don’t have a 10 foot rod I only have a 6 and a half foot one. My setup is a bobber which is 3 feet abound the hook with a quick connect thing with a weight and an artificial egg. I’ve gone 3 times and had no luck I’m starting think it might be my setup

Get some leader buddy, even cheaper stuff will be better than mainline, don't feel bad, many experienced fishermen have a hard time getting steelies, and don't worry about the rod for now, it's better with a longer one but you can still get fish with what you got

I don’t always bobber dog or bottom bounce whatever you may call it, I’ve found running the same setup but with out them on the bottom more toward the middle water column can be a deadly technique as well

I tried a fluoro bumper. Don’t you have issues mending because it always wants to sink?

Try using meucelin. I put it on my braid and bumper. just don't put it all the way to where you plan on having your bobber stop because it can cause your stop to slip. I apply it about 2' above where I plan on having my stop.

So how do you not snag fish when fishing beads if the bead isn’t right at the hook

Basically fly fishing with spinning equipment.

Yeah and you don’t snag them in the ass

Since the current on the bottom is going slower then the top you your bobber to be going just a tad bit slower on top current. That's what I was taught anyway. But I enjoyed your video anyway. Thanks.

Float reel would make all that easier especially mending and trotting not that you can't use a spinning reel . Do you guys not use centerpin set ups?

It's great til u get snagged and have to retie all that gear, I would fish that water with a hook, sinker, and a piece of yarn. K.i.s.s.
