Pixi you named Sweden, First of all we pay about 60%, (The offical tax is 33%, but we have a hidden charge that is about 17-25%, that is illegal for an business owner to chare with their employees.) tax on your income for an averege salery (Its about30-35K in dollars per year), then we have to pay tax on what we buy , and if we save money, so about 80-85% on every earned dollar. Then to get any decent health care we need to pay for insurance. We also pay for education ( we have student loans.) we have to pay for children care etc. The only people that get anything for free is those that dont work, like migrants.

I managed a restaurant in my younger years. Same thing happened. Gov raised minimum wage, penalty rates etc. The younger casuals thought it would be great. In the end they got less hours, salaried staff like myself worked more, service dropped because there was less staff to cook and serve patrons, customers slowly dropped, and the restaurant made less money and eventually closed.
And pausing price increases on essential goods and services? Like what? Who decides on what an essential good or service? And how do the manufacturers or workers of those goods and services make money?? These issues progressives have never thought of

I'm so tired of hearing about "unequal education," with the implication that we don't spend enough money to achieve good results. The fact is, America spends more money per capita on public education than all other countries, with the exceptions of Luxembourg, Norway, and Iceland.
The worst performing schools tend to be in communities that don't value education, where crime rates are high and most kids come from single parent homes. These communities often have school systems rife with corruption, inefficiency, and incompetence -- all problems that money can't solve.
It's time these communities took some responsibility for their own failures.
Roland Fryer proved a method for making these schools work -- by firing incompetent teachers and administrators, holding students accountable, and putting in long hours of study to catch up.
What was his reward for this and other findings that went against the prevailing narrative? He was shut down and suspended from Harvard on trumped up sexual harassment charges.

They don’t get a true educating in history, systems of government and the consequences of those systems. They come out with this ideology and have no idea what they’re even promoting, and this is done to them on purpose.

Well, it's nice to hear people talking without yelling or name calling. There is a serious problem of getting core competency in economics and history. Without it, you can't compare and contrast stats and situations fairly. It turns into wants and desires over reality. I want a million dollars, I don't need it. Being able to say that isn't something to which most young people can relate. Without that tool, they can't grasp cause & effect, predictions & statistics, and unintended consequences. In the olden days of the US, some core economics were taught, but by and large folks lived those lessons on a daily basis. This simply isn't true today, which means it's similar to kids not learning that fire is hot or worse, what is fire? I identify as fire. Why won't you burn? Reality isn't just a feeling.

The typical demographic in this labor pool is very prone to being taken advantage of. Without minimum wage mandates, these people would be paid even less, have no benefits, 401k, or vacation time. @@brigandboy1425 We are a nation of laws. In short, if you don't like it you're welcome to live elsewhere.
Now for the sake of nurturing a positive TH-cam discussion, I will add this to my original comment:
Minimum wage laws don't tell anyone "how to run their business", or even what to pay someone. They tell the business what not to pay. You're free to pay more, give bonuses and incentivize your top-performers. Only the worst businesses care about the minimum wage, and it's mostly because they're looking to pay the lowest possible wage and potentially abuse those who have no other option. Granted, many minimum wage jobs are usually part-time jobs done by teenagers, but that's not a reason to pay an adult minimum wage for full-time job in a factory/warehouse or other even restaurant.

Here's where they all missed the point on minimum wage. Everything should be merit-based to incentivize the brightest people get the highest or maybe not the brightest but the most capable and hardest working. If you make somebody money you should be the one making the most money. Problem with minimum wage everybody is treated like a number at that point. And for instance in my job I had the same amount of hours as the worst worker difference was I was working 6 days a week and they were working four because they couldn't afford to not have me there every day because I was the best. So now you are punishing people for their good work. It's pure insanity and incentivizes you to be WORTHLESS.

Tens of thousands came in. I don't know if it's still the case, but for years we were only second in the US (after Venice Beach CA I believe) for the highest population of Southeast Asians.

Wrong. Communism easily leads to authoritarianism because charismatic figures often start believing their own hype and don't relinquish power to the right people.
