Incredible! It's a paradise! These creatures are very lucky to have you they all seem so content and happy. You're love for them shows in this spectacular enclosure you must have hand created? Wow, just wow.
Well all I can say absolutely amazing iv never seen a set up like it I wish my ferrets had it it's given me a few ideas thank you for sharing your little guys are well spoilt 😊
We've got litter trays strategically placed around the enclosure so 95% of the poop goes in there. Of course, ferrets arent as good as cats at seeking them out, so I do have to just clean up the rogue droppings whenever I see them. I also spray certain areas with an enzyme cleaner to ensure the smell breaks down and they dont get used to treating a certain place as a toilet
I ferret proofed my whole backyard one time, 20 inch concrete around the edges with cedar fencing on top and I put the "tunnels" underground as well, with openings, but the problem was I never knew if they were down in the tunnels, or they did they find a way to escape? I also leash walk my ferrets every night for 6-8 blocks.
I did consider underground tunnels around the place when designing, but like you said, I was concerned about firstly not knowing where they were, but secondly that they fill the tunnels with junk or poo and you cant see/clean it. This is why all my above ground tunnels are clear rather than black.
This is top notch! I’m wanting to make something similar for mine but I keep thinking about the opportunities for flies to take over in the summer months. Do you struggle with flies? Or how do you keep them away?
That looks pretty amazing, are you able to keep them in it most of the year or does the temperature get too harsh for your ferrets in the winter and or summer?
They live in it all year around! Our temps here rarely go below say -4degC/25fah, but they're fine in that. We have heatbars installed in many of the nest boxes, which keeps them toasty in the cold anyway. In the summer it can get above 30C/86F, so we have fans and ensure water trays and ice bottles to cool. This summer it hit 38C/100F and for that day or two we brought them all into the house!
@Anticlaws ha, yeah it wasn't as bad as you'd think. They have a dedicated room for themselves, and it was so warm anyway that they just snoozed most the time. There are 14 ferrets at present.
We use 100mm (4inch) diameter clear polyurethane ventilation hose. This is great as you can see inside and watch them play. You can also see when they have stored something in the tube or got something stuck. In the inside area, we have fans for when it's hot, heaters for when it's cold (hot air blower for quick burst as well as permanently-on heatbars), wifi, sockets, cctv, handheld vacuum charger port, lighting.
@@kimberlainodriscoll4781 yeah it's definitely recommended to secure the base. We levelled the floor, laud weed barrier, then the galvanised mesh, and then laid the various different flooring substrates on top such as shingle, bark and AstroTurf. You could instead use a concrete base or paving slabs. You could even use those grid squares that are designed to hold shingle in a driveway.
@@kingsdownferrets8485 One idea I had was to remove the sod from where I plan to build my ferret enclosure, and lay a non metallic mesh which is secured to the structure's base, then cover it with the sod. That way I have real grass growing there with the mesh under it. I'm still looking for the best way to do this.
we clean the litter trays twice daily. We have a handheld vacuum cleaner within the enclosure that we get the dust and 'bits'. Then some surfaces are easily wipe-clean with a cloth or mop, others can be scrubbed with brush or jetwashed. All done with pet-safe disinfectant.
I have a ferret and I lived in Indonesia for now my ferrets are indoor pets but I want to build an outdoor enclosure. But here’s the thing temperature here can go from 27 - 36 degrees celcius are they fine living in that temperature or should I just keep them as indoor pets thanks.
In the UK our temps get to that level occasionally. By 30deg they start to struggle. The big problem is that the temp inside an enclosure can be even higher without proper insulation from heat radiating down from the roof. I'd say that if your temp is consistently over 30deg, then this isn't a good environment for them unfortunately.
We're in the UK, so i dont know how people manage in Florida, but the idea is the same. Once temps hit 30deg Celsius then ferrets start to struggle, and can quickly die of heatstroke. Particularly if the actual temp inside their hutches are higher than outside air temp. It's unlikely that ferrets would do well out all year in florida.

Ferrets are one of the few animals I can't get over the cuteness of. Every time I see one I'm like LOOK AT ITS LITTLE HANDS LOOK AT ITS LITTLE FACE
Them hands and feet are also my favorites..
That's what I like to see plenty room for the ferrets👍

The brown ferret in the beginning was so cute
She's called Chilli! Shes still dark, but has some lighter tones than when she was a kit in the vid

So cool! Mine just trash any soft furnishings they can get at. Love digging into sofas, beds etc. Great fun for them. Nightmare for us! 😄
@@kingsdownferrets8485 yep I hear you there 😆

This is really great 👍 I do have to ask if there are injuries from falls? I noticed some pretty high spots.
They are pretty good with the higher spots and never had any injuries.

Really cool set up that! Been thinking about making a large hamster wheel!
Go for it! Check out our video on how it was made
This is top notch!
I’m wanting to make something similar for mine but I keep thinking about the opportunities for flies to take over in the summer months. Do you struggle with flies? Or how do you keep them away?
Had amost zero flies this summer. Had a few more previous summers but not enough for it to be considered a huge problem.

Cool 💙💙💙💙are they ur pets or are u a breeder
They are our pets, and so we are with them throughout the day every day, but we do also breed and supply kits to loving family homes.
Pretty cool. I've always wanted ferrets, but my wife is not a fan.
Maybe you could take her somewhere that would let her hold a ferret to try to convince her to let you get ferrets.
Or dump the wife and get the ferrets! hahaha
That's awesome!
Thanks!
This is amazing
Very clever/cute! How many do you have? We only have one lil girl, Roxie!

What do you do to keep them from digging under the outer walls?
We have secured wire mesh over the entire floor too, before adding all the different base materials. So they can't dig out.

How many ferrets can fit in this beautiful enclosure?
Well, thats subjective! 😁 At present we have 13, but I'm sure I could get many more in!
