re: zimmerit it would have been really cool to see sappers in the show - for those who don't know, zimmerit prevents explosives being stuck to a metal surface via magnet and the texture comes from being applied to tanks via trowel or similar implement. zimmerit was applied in a non-uniform way for each unit (as well as camo/paint), so it doesn't need to be perfect whatsoever. but concerning design purposes it's absolutely a callback to some OG Gundam artwork!
This is perfect timing for a Zimmerit tutorial because I'll be turning my MG Char's Gelgoog 2.0 into a Panzer IV inspired Sleeves Gelgoog, and I want some Zimmerit sprinkled in, especially on the lower legs where it would make sense to counter mines.
Another way you could make some of those lines/dirty markings is by putting some Tamiya extra thin cement on and putting some finger prints on it to scuff it up a bit. I found that out when trying to remove seam lines and a bit of the cement flowed over and caused my finger prints to get casted on the surface and it actually looks like battle damage/dirt/weathering.
Got my kit not long ago at a Target department store of all places. Now it might just be my copy, but the tolerances on the parts were kind of weird. The orange brown parts didn't seem to want to go together some times and some of the joints are kind of tight too. The hips on my model are especially tight where they are putting stress on the hip swing down mechanism and causing white streaks to appear. The entire hip section isn't to my taste actually, prefer how it was done on the Origins/Revive Zaku kits. I really like this mode, but I really wanted to love it if that makes any sense.
@lawz7787 I'm thinking about getting the one with Kale. It has parts to make a solari ver out of a base rfv zaku kit ( which i already have sitting in my need to build zeon gundam crate). I didn't really like the show. I thought the animation style was rough, and I didn't like how much plot armor was in it. Felt like it would have been more impactful if only iria would have survived and she had some kind of struggle with trusting humanity or something. Instead, to me, it felt like watching NPCs or something. Regardless, I like the concept, and I think the custom zaku were pretty cool.
I would build this but the hollow feet, forearm seamlines and bad stickers are disappointing. Not the cutting edge kit that Bandai is capable of in 2024.
I really like my kit because of all the detail it's easy in the Anime movies and tv shows to forget that these mobile suits would look beat up they'd have maintenance access panels all over the place and general imperfections bandai knew it wouldn't be able to hide the fact in a CGI tv series and made the models accordingly anyway waiting for your review of the gundam model
I think something we got of note, if we are referring to irl military vehicles. Is that they aren't all coated in hatches. Actually military equipment, even tanks, planes and cars are designed very cheaply. You'd also have to take in vulnerability, you don't want that many hatches that could be easily puncture and cause major damages. While it's easy to compare a mech to a fighterjet, they're more similar to a tank. Thick, single sheeted panels are needed for proper protection, it's absolutely hell on the engineering team. Similar to IRL. There are billions of nightmare stories from those engineers. If you want some hardcore, 2D mech action. Votoms. If you want some games. Steel Battalion.
I was stating in my comment I prefer the heavy detail unlike any other zaku I've built including MG and RG kits the amount of surface detail is amazing on these 2 kits when you watch the Anime you don't get to see that but Requiem for Vengeance being CGI you do
@@itsgab5745Jets, and planes in general, absolutely have access hatches for various reasons. I flew for two years and had to open and close them several times.
Fun fact, most CCA designs have longer arms compared to the body. If you look at the arms of the RE-GZ or Jegan they go really far down, bjt it works well imo.
The anime was garbage, especially how much it defies cannon, but the new suits that came from it are decent. I like the zakus and Pbandai has the custom ones from the series.
I enjoyed the series more than I expected to. Watched in Japanese dub. I don’t know how it’s supposed to fit in canon, if at all, but didn’t really mind that aspect at all. Just enjoyed it as a standalone Gundam series similar to 08th MS team 👍
@ZakuAurelius did the Japanese animations somewhat line up with the dialog? They didn't in English, like at all. The animation style in general was a tough watch. I learned that it was made with unreal and that honestly makes a lot of sense now. - It's in eastern Europe during OYW. Which is also why the rx 78 being included is weird because it's clearly not amuro.
@@Mustard4488 that's fair. In where i live, these gundam requiem kits are almost msrp. Meanwhile seed freedom kits doubled, even tripled msrp it's ridiculous.

I LOVE the zimmerit. It reminds me of Tiger IIs and the Panther.
Cool tutorial. Would love to see more quick tips like this. Also, this kit rules. HGs getting better and better.
Actually another good, worthy Gundam kit review job 👌
love the kit and design. great review as always ! love the extra mod tips ;👍👍
Glad you liked it. There are way too many haters.
Woohoo mine arrived today from USA Gundam store!!!
The feel having those hollow spaces on the bottom is accurate to the show, you can briefly see it when they’re at the scrapping plant
I really love zakus and all em big body mechs

Where do I get that panel line scriber?
Can we have a link for that edge scriber you used on the arm? Can't seem to find anything like it online.

Would love decals for the cool wolf logo. Not a huge fan of the overall color scheme, but that’s what paint is for.
What is the name of that edge scriber? I cant find it.
What this guy said.
While RoV had some issues, the mobile suit designs were not one of them. I wish they'd give us a kit for the Gouf customs that showed up as well!
Those and/or the Gouf Flight Type!
Deathwish Records shirt? Nice
Fun fact, zimmerit was reactive coating on WWII German tanks.
the thing is the Mobile Suits in RFV have long arms in proportion to the rest of the body, almost giving them "ape-like" proportions.

Great tutorial, your Zaku II F Type Solari looks amazing! 🚀👍
18:00 Can't you just pop the feet off to do this to make it less cumbersome?
No
Funny thing, mixing those RfV zakus with Tierens.... Is really good 😂 like German diorama about wall where M48 and T-54 having a stand off
Iria is tha captain of the red wolf squadron so that's probably why the zaku has ears. Wolf Ears XD
Anyone got a recommendation for panel line color on the main color cant seem to find anything that looks right
Brown
Are you going to get any of the pbandai rfv 2 piece sets? One of them includes extra parts for the solari zaku

@ the show feels more like an animation showcase than an actual show lol
Totally agree with your thoughts on the series. I enjoyed it and the kits are really solid!
This is a very good looking zaku but its too expensive so I will stick to old aquatic MS instead!
I think the RFV designs are cool, I just prefer the Gundam over the Zaku.
crimson shoulder
Man, i want buy this Zaku in my nation online store, but the price is 3x from normal price sale 😂

Nice amount of surface detail for a HG - only took em 34 years XD
The only thing I don't like with this Zaku II is the baby poop color
Fits with the lore I guess…
The zaku that lose to gundam on first battle haha totally deserve the name *made out of trash bin* haha 😂
The main thing I don’t like about the RfV designs is how damn long the arms are.
Well you know what to do 🪓
I don’t know why people think this especially for the zaku, pointing down the arms stop at the exact same part where every other zaku 2 kit stop

for sure they should have shortened em up just a tiny bit

All of the kids for this series are so expensive, I would rather buy an old mg
Around 2000 yen is not so bad. Seed freedom is much more expensive, so many kits around 3000-4000 yen.
@YohanesWijayaKP not really depends on where you buy them mostly I see is so expensive. I'll just wait when everything dies down
