Love your videos, I’m looking to try my hand at rendering our new project home and feeling a bit more confident after watching your stuff! I’m looking to build up some new blockwork up to the same as my old existing render and then recoat the whole thing with that weber render. To avoid bubbles like this do they have a different product to build up a scratch coat on the blockwork or would you go oldschool with sand cement and lime?
You can use ocr in as many layers as you want you got the bubbles because the top half was painted render and didn’t have much suction so the air gets trapped then you get a bubble
I had exactly the same, bubbles, I scratched it one day then a few days later wet it down and went to put the top coat next time I got dry weather. I put 14 bags on as my second coat all in one off a tower, went to float the top down and it was solid ! Lol

OCR can even when I do 2 coats on the same day. Not as many bubbles, but a few. Spray it with a little water @TonyC and your good to start floating. It comes back nicely 👌
Im starting off my own rendering business, i have one question though, what about a brick wall or brick work that is just atrocious, edges are terrible so you won’t be able to get an angle on and going to need alot of thickness and level, any tips? Have you taken on a job like that when there was nothing else available and needed the money.
I've a wall to render that's only 8m long 3 blocks high. Already have a tonne of building sand, can i get away with using that or am I asking for trouble? Cheers
Morning Blaine. Quick question, would you still to one brand when external rendering? I'm wanting to use silicone top coat and was going to use EWI. However Webber OCR is easier to buy and I know you like the product. Would you use Webber OCR and then EWI silicone top coat? Also over summer I moved into a right project of a house and iv plastered half of the house thanks to practice and your tips and advice. Thank you.🙏 Dan
Thats what i need done that rain bead lip you done so the rain drips down over lead stip of a porch joined to a rendered wooden panel wall render bungerlow can you help i cant move that well and i was thinking i could do it untill i relised i could hardly get up the ladder and was hard to climb down i was dreaming i could do it lol
Because they aren't selling as many compared to drills. The bearings need to take a lateral load like mixers, as well as the axial loading a drill will take. The manufacturers tooling will be different. Generally, if I need a tool, I just get the best I can afford if it's going to be used long term. I'm sure you could fashion something like this out of a cheap paddle mixer if you are handy enough.
Is weber ocr always that colour? I've looked online and can only find the grey colour same as in your video? Is it only k rend what offer other colour options?
regarding scratch coat ive been told that you should do the scratch i a criss cross not waves as waves will create water to collect is this true u just bs

Blaine can you do a video on when plaster starts to tear when trowling up be interesting to see another person's get out of jail technique
I use a product called ki7 fassa I’ve learned to not try float early wait for it to go lighter in spots and liven it up if need be when floating

Using a serrated rule can help get rid of the bubbles

When things go south, take a break, drink a beer and continue...
Haha is 9am too early??
How long should external render last?
serrated straight edge to get bubbles out mate
You certainly made it work there matey ✨🍻
Thank you!

I would tell the customer the drip is over this window because its the weather side 😂
Hi mate when it came to top coating the next day did you spray it down? Or went on dry?
I really don't understand why a powerfloat is so expensive, it can't be more complex to make than a drill buts it like 4x the price
Good point to be fair!

Again Blaine you are so honest about plastering that's why i like your videos

Yeah, there’s no colour for this product mate, just gray 👍
What disc do you use for the power float please
The plastic Diamond attachment. It’s the only one I use pal 👍
@@PlasteringForBeginners thankyou

Also use some pink grip for bead work mate so much better personal opinion ❤
Drippingly good 🫡

Day to day stuff...... your videos are good but I don't understand why you have to show people how to do our trade?????
It’s called helping others in the trade
Do not understand what you are doing. I would put a plastic net on the wall to prevent cracking.
There’s a mesh in the scratch coat 👍
