      I’ve recently started working out with the nearby poolees... it’s super helpful to start working out with people who have the same goal! They’re encouraging and they don’t let up on you until you physically can’t go any further. So, basically find a group of people who will do that for you and set goals for yourself!

    Excellent Tips, especially the one on picking one family member to streamline information through. You hit the nail on the head with the concept of taking recruit training one meal at a time. Your vice was peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, mine was chocolate milk. It was like liquid crack. Good info.

    I would just like to say that I’m a teenager and Ever since I was 5, I wanted to be in the Military. Recently I became every interested in the Marines. For a female to be a Marine is pretty tough and I admire your strength. I can’t wait until I’m 18 so I can join. I always wanted to serve my country. For the short time of my life right now I have afraid of the world. You have taught me to push myself and chase my dreams. I am willing to risk my life to save someone else’s life. Thank you for inspiring me and serving our country. YOU ARE AMAZING !!!!

    I wasn’t the scribe but I was in charge of fire watch. Recruits called me the Grim Reaper whenever I walked around the squad bay with my “Hit List” for the night. Lol Definitely want to be on their good side.
    My internal clock always woke me up at midnight so I did my hair in my rack in the dark Bc there was always recruits in the head doing theirs. My advice is LEARN HOW TO DO YOUR HAIR WITH NO MIRROR AND IN THE DARK. Lol Free time I would part my hair in the head then in my rack I would “feel” for my hair part and smooth it with a brush and gel. Sock bun always came out looking good better than some that did theirs in the head with a mirror. Lmao
    It’s been 7 years when I first stepped onto the yellow foot prints at Parris Island. Everything is still fresh in my head. Lol

    Happy to find this, i ship out nov 30th. Heres a sad thing tho, its now 15 weeks, the first two are in quarantine at a hotel in Atlnata :/ there are no female shipdates for 2021 until late October. Ill be the one last female in tn actually being able to ship out before the year ends. December dates have disappeared for reservists. Covid is really screwing everything up, especially for the women. Im really excited and thankful to finally be leaving. There were no females in my dep and only met 3 female marines, including a sgt major. I havent gotten much advice except from male marines that have come back so again thank you for this. Im equally excited as i am terrified. Ive got terrible bearing so hopefully i dont get screwed with too much. Ill be back here to update if i made it! Also, because of covid, parents are not allowed to come to graduation. Another sad thing, we dont get the 10 days vacay after we graduate, we go straight to MCT and then MOS school. We wont be seeing any family for over 6 months.

    My father was a marine and was front line. I’ve had interest in the military and parts of me wants to be a marine, but idk about it fully. I have mental health issues that I feel like would prevent me from actually doing my best. Parts of me wants to push myself and prove others wrong but it’s scary. Secondly I struggle with self harm and it freaks me out that if I went and joined the military people would see the scars and think I’m weak when I’m not really weak. Btw I’m 19

We decided that I would stay and go to college and if didn't work out the military would always be there. Well we've been together for 6 years now but I still want to be a marine. i have a question. i'm planning on enlisting next summer and i'm not yet done with high school, so i'm still a bit new to this whole thing and i want to know a lot of stuff before i go in. as of the moment i have a short pixie cut and i'm very fine keeping it this way, but is it alright to go into parris island fresh off the bus with a pixie? i'm pretty sure that i'll be targeted by the DI's since i'll stand out, but i'm just iffy about letting my hair grow out. if i do keep it short, will i ever even have time at night to cut it on my own? it feels like a silly question but i just want to know :/

    • @hannah-pt9gw
      @hannah-pt9gw 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      With short hair, you have an option of getting it cut like the males do every week. Sure you might stand out & maybe your DI will make you work harder. But the way I see it, you're just getting more training. Sweat more so you don't bleed later.

    • @sempfi22
      @sempfi22 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are fine going into boot camp with a pixie. I went through boot camp with one recruit who had a pixie cut. The DIs may allow you to go to the salon at 4th BN at least once. I had a short stack when I went to boot camp and got to go to the salon once for cut.

      Hannah Grace Perhaps you can braid it or twist it and Bobby pin it to your head. I’ve seen girls do that with their hair

    • @sempfi22
      @sempfi22 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      still do a sock bun, but would need small sock bun. When I was growing my hair out, I used my daughter's baby socks. I wouldn't recommend a fake bun during boot camp. If not, they will make you cut your hair into a short bob.

    • @charcymarie5804
      @charcymarie5804 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could cut your hair so that it doesn’t extend past the collar of your shirt/cammie blouse so you don’t have to do a bun at all

    Hi there! I go to swear in this Monday and am looking at shipping out in possibly just a few weeks. I'm not gonna lie, I've been training, but I'm genuinely terrified. I don't have much support I my corner and have been getting put down about it. Now, I'm not so sure of myself and am getting worried. Any advice would be seriously appreciated!

    The only part of boot camp that would have been really hard for me would be the yelling and screaming, never had the lungs for it. Pressure, stress, life and death and all the exercise in the world at one time I could eat it like candy.

    If you have questions or feel like you want to join... TALK TO A RECRUITER. That’s their job. Whether you join or not their job is to give you as much information as possible. Go to multiple meetings with them. Ask for the blunt truth. If you don’t think it’s for you, that’s the corps. The few the proud. ALSO you don’t just sign up and the next day you’re gone. Recruiters will help you get physically fit-and it may take months- to be at the physical expectations for a RECRUIT....RECRUIT TRAINING will build you to leave with the standards of a MARINE.

    • @hopezappas1
      @hopezappas1 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      cutepooky 99 to go in as Officer you’d need a bachelors degree. Then you’d go through OCS (Officer candidate school), not bootcamp. If you want to go through bootcamp you can start off as enlisted but go to school during your first enlistment and then switch over to officer. Either way you’d still be going through OCS though to become an officer
