I remember this show when I was a kid - it was about DANCING. No fake tan, not a bloody celeb in site - and the audience didn't drown the band out with out of time clapping. Far more class altogether.

I remember watching come dancing after returning from the pub, possibly on a Saturday night.

As a child these dresses fascinated me and I used watch the program for those and the sometimes disastrous 'freestyle' section. Not a celebrity in sight :)

Ah, lovely memories of watching this with my Gran when I was small. Like other comments, I found the dresses fascinating 🙂

I also wore those dresses. I danced competition from 1972 to 1994. They were really not easy to dance.

This is almost a parody of the whole genre and I love it. All I need is Terry Wotan’s voiceover and I am 14 years old again

The man is walking about the room with his hands full of huge rose fluffy ball, out of which the woman's head is sticking out. This rose dress, gives another meaning to the "ball room dancing".

I can remember watching an episode years ago with my Mum and one of the dancers span too quickly and flew across the dance floor. Flat out on her back and disappeared under a spectators table! She was in a bouncy tangerine gown similar to the first one and had huge tangerine ball earrings on. The camera quickly turned away to another couple. I'm surprised it's never appeared on a TV bloopers programme somewhere.

That looked a little like sequence dancing at the end - like they do on cruise ships.
