Honestly, this controller COULD have been made in a Chinese factory with the official dies and whatnot built to official spec. Many times when companies are shopping around in China for manufacturing, they get bids from several different manufacturers. What this means is that, say for example that Nintendo shopped the manufacturing of this controller out to 5 different manufacturers - all of whom got the exact same specs to make the game pad - what happens is each of these manufacturers retools and makes a very small batch run of the controllers and sends them to Nintendo. Nintendo then picks one manufacturer to go with and the rest are SOL for retooling costs. What do you think happens in these situations? This is how we get clones. They are either from the same factory that produces OEM, but are ran "after hours," or they are from a different manufacturer but made to proper spec but lacking the official logo because it is a manufacturer that lost the bid to another but dont want to lose out on all the factory retooling costs... Of course there is always the possibility that it is just a knock off based on the OEM Nintendo pad, or they used cheaper internals, but when you see high quality clones like that more than likely this is what happened.

@@brandonweiler7701 If you haven't gotten your answer yet, yes, you can.
The internal are slightly different between the knockoffs and real thing (chip placement on the pcb, thickness of ribbon cables, etc), but all screw holes line up perfectly.
The only thing you'll be missing out on if you swap a pro controller internals into a knockoff shell is that your switch will detect it as a normal pro controller rather than the xenoblade one, and the shell won't have the switch logo on the front, or nintendo logo on the back.

To be fair $85 is pretty outrageous for even the official controller's construction (rubber buttons, plastic sticks, etc) even with the first-party quality control, so it's unsurprising that it can be profitably cloned for $20.

pretty stupid how a new pair of joy-cons are $99.96 cad (on amazon) but the right joy-con that came with my switch completely stopped working after 2 years and the left one thinks it's getting detached and attached when it's actually on the switch the whole time. $99.96 cad (on amazon) for a cheap piece of plastic. great job nintendo.

this is a switch remote ( basically) . what happens is the companies in china who make products for big companies like nintendo , over produce and sell extras as off-brands. they use the same molds, components and basically steal the designs. it happens allot in china. the only difference is sometimes the quality of the plastic they use in molding. they make more from these than they do from the % they get from nintendo .

Also just got one of these clones and was shocked how similar they were. The grips are a harder plastic, and the dpad is a little bit mushy, but other than that: it's fantastic for less than half the price! even has NFC for amiibos. I do miss the HD rumbles a bit more than I thought I would. (mostly because a couple games try to do "subtle" rumbling effects, which just leaves these running full tilt. Wonder if I could swap in some replacement HD rumble packs?)
The sticking to the axis is likely because of the type of analog sticks used. The springs may be too strong, or it may not be as perfect from the factory, so you may need to wear it in a bit.
Waking the console remotely is something I miss sometimes as well. It's something you don't really think about much until you don't have it anymore.

What I do object to is the fakes with fake packaging and the original logos faked on to the device. so far as that is concerned it is passing off.

It wasn't recognised as an xbox controller just some weird xinput thing and all the buttons were messed up or just missing, until i fiddled around. Try holding start button to change modes. It might be compatible with more than one console but needs to change modes. The controller I got was wireless and capable of xbox, ps3 and pc! but wasn't official. I used it on both pc and console but had to hold start button for it to be recognised as an xbox controller by my pc, if that makes sense.

If you wanted to could you replace the regular rumbles with HD rumbles from the joycons?

    Hi Vince,
I was just wondering, what would happen if we change the rumble in the fake controller with an actual pro controller HD rumble?

Hey My mate Vince, I want your advice, I have an OEM pro controller that was been working properly until now, the analog sticks, when I firmly put pressure on both analog sticks, the right one was like wobbles itself unlike the left one was not moving at all, and when I feel both them, the right analog was a bit different, like its not equal to the left analog, what's more is that in game like Splatoon 2, it moves itself turning left or spaz out, turning left only until I got control of it, then the left analog, when I was moving it upwards, sometimes it just stays there when I try to move it to whatever direction aside upwards.
Btw... do people have to ship their own joy con if it has those common issues directly to Nintendo or to the local shops?

Guessing a clone is fancy term for a pretty outside but empty inside. No ic boards for the buttons.
