  • Why Russia's young people want out? I asked people in the streets of Moscow!
Russia has recorded its largest annual population decline in the previous years. According to Rosstat, the official government statistics service, the number of people permanently living in the country dropped by 510,000 in the last year.
One of the reasons of population decline in Russia is a high number of people leaving the country. In this video, we will ask people if they would like to spend their lifetime in Russia, or move abroad.

Come for holidays instead if you can, so that you can enjoy the country without worrying about paying the rent. I dream of holidaying in Russia instead. Hopefully after covid I will.

I lived and worked in Russia when it was still the Soviet Union. I lived in Leningrad, now St. Petersburg, and was there during the coup of August 1991 and after. Those were terrible times for the ordinary Russian citizen, especially the elderly and vulnerable. It is so much better now, but could be better still, if the oligarchs were not robbing the Russian people blind and bleeding the wealth out of the country. I do hope that at some point the rampant corruption is dealt with.

Coming from Germany and having moved to Cyprus, I can tell it is true. You do not leave your past or your problems in your country. You face new opportunities and you might find a career or even love abroad. When you move to another country, be aware of what you expect and what the other country offers. There is always pros and cons.
As for Russia, I know their salaries are much lower than the ones in the EU countries and their public admin is - as they say - working against their population. I hear this a lot from Russians who emigrated to Cyprus and enjoy more personal freedom here.
I myself found the environment in Cyprus more free in comparison towards Germany. I can speak my opinion free here, I can chose products that are either higher taxed or restricted and I can live with way less regulation and surveillance. Also, I have not that much of control by the government.
The downside is that the country is less developed and things need to be imported, else you get to buy shit. Also, public admin here and banks are like in Germany of the early 1970s. 50 years behind! Let alone houses and buildings, who have standard of the 1950s - 1960s, unless you build with imported materials.
As for Russia as for any country, my recommendation is simply to keep in mind: the rich will always dodge taxes. There is no way to make them fund a government. The state always depends on the local employed people, who pay taxes on income and contribute from their salaries to the government institutions. That plus the Value Added Tax on goods and services is what you have. The broader your middle class and the more purchase power it has, the more advanced and the more stabil as well as the more positive your state becomes. So make them be able to start a family, to fund a house, to buy a car and give them their annual holiday and to have them enjoy a good consumer lifestyle. Else, your people become depressed and leave. Once especially the well-educated and specialized leave, your brain drains out.
Many governments forget to be there to serve their people and not to be given money for nothing.

Global warming is changing our beautiful country and not for the better - shorter Winters, longer Summers, increasing bushfire risks and the severity is worsening too, rainfall is becoming more sporadic - less in normal rainfall and more clumped up into shorter periods of heavy rainfall with storms. most of the Eastern seaboard major cities will be between 0 and 40c on average (Winter minimum overnight to Summer maximum during the day) with small variations based on where you live.
I live in Brisbane, and it can get down to -2 on a cold morning in Winter, and as high as 46/47 on really HOT days in Summer. Average Summer days are in the mid 30s, sometimes the high 30s, but for the most part, mid 30s is pretty common. We do get short periods of heatwaves, where temperatures are in the low to mid 40s. Brisbane, in Summer, can have quite warm and humid nights too - it's not uncommon in Summer to have an overnight minimum of 24c @ 85% humidity. It becomes rather draining, at least for me.
I come from a European background, and my genetics were *never* made for the Australian heat and I HATE our Summers. I much prefer our cooler months.
Most of the rest of Australia is pretty similar, most of the time, to Brisbane. Some places, mostly rural, can get hotter though, and a lot of rural areas are suffering from long standing drought now, especially with our weather patterns changing due to global warming. It is predicted that we'll rise by at least another degree (on average) between now and 2050 and that Summers will become even longer, bushfire threats even worse than they are now, and storms more violent.
Hope this helps answers some of your questions.

Most of these kids have no understanding of what living in other countries would be like. They grew up in apartments and houses their families got for free from the government, got fantastic education for free, good medical care for super cheap, etc., they don't understand that there's only a handful of countries that could offer them a comparable standard of social security (but at higher taxes too). They don't understand that moving, say to Western Europe, would mean they'd need to consider property ownership (buying a studio apartment in Amsterdam would set them back about $150,000-$300,000 and even more in a major city in US), paying a huge sum to get their kids an education they'd expect in Russia, facing Russophobia in the workforce regardless of their political stance (surprise-surprise, people won't respect you more for saying you hate Putin), same if not worse treatment from the government. They base their opinions on one-week tourist trips, Instagram posts, movies and the self deprecating West-worshipping disease of Perestroika that post-Soviet Gen X was infected with.

It was nice to hear young people who have pride in their country. The thing I heard most in these interviews is that they want to introduce a bit of change in their lives. The idea of keeping things the same as they were 10, 20 or even 50 years ago is lost among the young adults. Change refreshes society.

I like your channel. I like your style of interviewing people like a journalist while weaving in history and observations. This was a good video.
I have one recommendation. While it is important to interview young people try to get out of your comfort zone and also interview people in the 30-50 age group. This will add good perspective to the views of the teens through 20s age group.
Also, I liked how you finished the video talking about the grass is greener elsewhere syndrome ( universal) and how there is no perfect place and problems and challenges are wherever you are - and a natural part of life. It is all about how we react to and deal with the natural difficulties of life wherever we live!

Well it seems that alot of young kids want to move out. They do not seem to know that Russia is a developing country. It was in ruins after the fall of the USSR in 1991. It has come a long way since then. The economic problems that Russia is facing are primarily because of the sanctions that the west has put on them. Corruption is also more predominent. But please remember your country has come a long way since 1991 . Hold on stay strong. Things will get better. Держись из Бельгии.

They are young, healthy and natural looking young women, who do take care of themselves. Such looks are actually norm for young women in Slavic countries. Sad is that as they get older and get married, they sometimes tend to gain weight and swiftly transit to modern "babushka" looks (middle aged looking lady, with visible "extra" body weight, wearing weird clothes and "lazy" hairstyle accompanied with excessive golden jewelry). Just look at female Russian tourists in todays European cities or some old photos of Putin's (ex)wife.

@@christopherbarclay1405 Like I said: mass migration has cost my country (the Netherlands) 400 billion euros, from 1995 onwards. The study is called: "Grenzeloze Verzorgingsstaat. De gevolgen van immigratie voor de overheidsfinanciën." Now this is in Dutch or course. If you can't be bothered to translate, read "The strange death of Europe" by Douglas Murray. Please state your sources.
All the things you have stated are what the elitists have been pushing down the throats of my people. "The doctors and lawyers from Aleppo will come to our country". It was all a lie.
My parents paid 20 euros for health insurance when they were my age (21). Nowadays, citizens pay 144 euros for basic insurance, which is mandatory by law. Minimum wage is about 1400 euros a month by the way.
Housing has become so scarce that 3-4 bedroom houses in Amsterdam are being sold for 1.000.000 euros. In my city, the average price is 350.000 euros. I am a soldier, make 2000 euros a month and got 10.000 on the bank, and I can't even buy an appartment. Oh and the migrants take up almost all goverment housing because they get priority status. So now I rent a 20m² room for 450 euros a month, I simply can't get anything better.
Then there is Islam. The Muslim Brotherhood is creeping into Dutch, nay, European society. Islam is becoming more and more dominant. A religion based on the accomplishments of a pedosexual warlord who brought death and destruction from Spain to Iran. Need I say more?
So please tell me again how I have benefitted from mass migration.

      1) If it would only be inflation, it would have a rate of 90% since 1980. This isn't the case of course. The link with immigration is that migrants from mostly the Middle East can't or won't work full time in the Netherlands. About 2/3 of Syrians who came here in 2014 for example, don't work full time. Which means they don't contribute to the welfare state, but they do make use of it, which puts a lot of pressure on said welfare state, resulting in higher costs.
      2) I'm using the Netherlands as an example, so why bring up the UK? Also, please provide sources as to why my arguments (sources on which they are based, I have already given) are "misinformed".
      3) I am islamophobic: afraid of islam. It is a political ideology disguised as a religion. The current situation in the Middle East, and especially Turkey, proves that. Ataturk seperated religion from state succesfully in Turkey as one of the only Middle Eastern countries. Erdogan turned that around a mere 80 years later.
I've spoken to lots of muslims. They often strike me as barbaric. In my opinion (which, remember, I'm allowed to have), they are not worthy of living in the free world, for they do not want freedom. All they seem to want, is to praise their god. Of course there are exceptions, like Ayaan Hirsi Ali, but she had to flee to America after receiving too many serious death threats from muslims who couldn't take the criticism.
      Now then...
You have given 0 (zero) sources to back your arguments. Therefore I can only assume you do not have any and that you are only paraphrasing what you have been told by elitists. Please provide sources. If my assumption is correct however, you are not worthy of my time and this debate is over.
