Great video. It's nice to have a real price sheet put out there. I have training planned for October and this seems like an accurate estimate of what things may cost. This is definitely not a cheap sport/hobby and people should have a fair idea of what to expect when getting into PPG. There was a used trike/foot launch paramotor for sale recently and the price with the wing was $5900. It sounded really great but the guy selling it said he had hurt his knee and couldn't fly it for me BUT he said I could take it for a spin to verify it works. Well, I haven't even had training yet, lol. There also was a questionable amount of hours on the motor........ the advertised hours were just too low for an older unit. I couldn't find anything on TH-cam regarding the brand name except an obscure, older video in South America and even then I wasn't sure if it was the same brand. Needless to say, I passed and either someone bought it or the guy took it off of Craigslist, either way it's not listed there anymore. I want to feel safe and have piece of mind with my equipment, especially being new to the sport. I'll just have to save a few more dollars along the way. Thanks for posting and being honest. 🤟🏼

It is frustrating to wait to get into the air. But come October, you will be so pumped. Your instructor may end up providing you with some really good options for equipment and you will be thankful that you did not pull the trigger on the good deal that you found on Craigslist. I hate hearing the stories about people who pour thousands of dollars into equipment and then have no recourse to repair or refund if things go sideways. You are going to love it.

A straightforward and honest breakdown! When weighing up whether to pull the trigger on starting my ppg journey, this was a great starting point. Thank you! Personally, the dollar costs aside, what's holding me back is the sacrifices of time. I live in the city, have a full-time job and two young children. Not sure if I have the free time required to learn, enjoy and refine my skills to justify the huge expense.

    • @ParamotorNC

andrew bringas I was in a similar position. I have struggled in the past to make time for a weekend event, let alone several days of training. But it turned out that my local training school allows students to come whenever possible until they finished. No pressure, I spent months getting in my training. Make some phone calls before you write it off. Best regards, Ben.

That was a very well presentation on getting started in the sport! Thank you for your time and effort in putting it all together. It's a fair amount of money to be sure, especially if new equipment is purchased, but still less than the cost of many new motorcycles. And if someone can get new equipment in the beginning, it should last them for quite a while, if properly maintained. I enjoyed your video, and it's sure to help people interested in getting started. Nice job!

Very interesting summary thanks for posting.
There is no way I can justify spending that much on new kit here in the UK.
I decided to try the used market and found a BGD Wasp wing and a PAP 1400 Paramotor complete with an Independence Annular 24 reserve for around £2K.
The reserve is beyond the recommended 10-12 year age but I was told has never been used in anger and I have had it repacked professionally. I would rather have it than no reserve at all!
Locally training is available for £1350.
I built my own helmet like you but adding up the parts including budget bluetooth communication, knockoff budget GoPro (Akaso EK7000 Pro), it still cost about £200.
Part of my thinking is that if I don't get on very well with or just don't like Paramotoring I can resell the used items and get the same or almost the same as what I paid for them.
I certainly would have preferred all new kit but that was beyond my means.

Really great vid with lots of detail of your personal expenditures. I know there are some offerings nowadays (Gravity, Rebel II) for new pilots to consider... I'd be interested in your thoughts, 9 months later. Thanks!

    • @ParamotorNC
      @ParamotorNC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Yeah, it's a great point. I am impressed with the companies who are bringing innovation and choice to the market in the paramotor space. Gravity and Rebel have both come in with affordable paramotors in the last year. And I have have heard people offer very good reviews with for both (with some pros and cons). But even a year ago Blackhawk was offering a wing a motor package for $8,200 which is great. To be fair, I have only flow 2 motors (Thor 130 and Atom 80, both on Fresh Breeze frame).
If I were looking to buy a new motor today I would look closely at the Rebel. I have recently been impressed with some comments from Minyard about the MACFLY frame (although it may be on the high end). And I would look in the Facebook group named Paramotor Things for Sales which I did not know about 1 year ago. There seems to be some good modern but used gear that moves through that page at a reasonable price.

I spent almost $2k CDN on training and I already had a recreational pilot permit. I did get very lucky and obtained a used Ozone Buzz Z3 with harness and reserve for 1,600CDN. The motor and it's harness was about 7K Canadian. I have an OpenPPG X4 electric running 4 battery packs (about 2kw hours worth of power). I figure I'm still under $12K CDN which is very reasonable.

Is there a relatively private way to convey my contact info, IF you'd be willing to share your equipment/trike info? I may call Kyle tomorrow. My "preliminary window shopping" estimates here in Australia. _in $AU obviously_
    PPG bible: $62
The complete paramotor pilots book of knowledge: $12.00 Ebook, or $62 paperback delivered.
Training: $3000 to $4500 depending on where you go and if you use your own gear or theirs.
Wing: Ozone Mojo PWR: About $5000. Haven't nailed down a definitive price yet. _(surprisingly on par with U.S prices with exchange rate taken into account)_
Paramotor: Parajet Sport, with the Vitorazzi Moster, $12000 to $13500 depending on who you buy from. _(surprisingly on par with U.S prices with exchange rate taken into account)_
Add another few thousand for other expenses, accessories, helmet etc.
Set aside about $23000, maybe $24000.
Still cheaper than a new car, and you can only fly a new car once. 🤣

Don’t quote me on this but let me give you an idea of my understanding. If I’m flying about 100 hours per season, I think I would send it in after two seasons for an inspection. I would hope to get at least four seasons out of the wing before I retire It. But if it performs well, in the annual inspections, I can keep flying.
