Check out this video where I discuss ideal conditions and turbulence in the sport of Paramotoring. I also have a flight just before a stunning sunset in Indian Trail, North Carolina.
Great video, I was just thinking about this. Last night I went up and conditions were very similar here in central NC. I definitely had some jitters because the air was bumpy but managed to hang in there for an hour long flight. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Nice work my friend and nice video! Don’t worry the bump tolerance will come with time. I love the multiple camera angles and nice job editing. New subscriber here!
Super cool that you are in NC. I was born in Raleigh and lived in NC my whole life. Im out in the country living in Pikeville now and hope I can one day afford to try PPG. I feel like we live in the perfect place for it. Really enjoy your channel. Thanks for the hard work!
Yeah, I think that anxious feeling slowly goes away with every additional flights. But I am beginning to believe that I will always be one of the more cautious pilots. I will unapologetically sit out the rowdy days.
Best to not fly in conditions you are not comfortable in. There’s no reason to be disappointed in landing early. As a paraglider pilot it’s a complete different side of the spectrum. We’re flying in the sierra Nevada’s and launching at 12:00-1:00 pm, and let me tell you it is all hands on deck just to keep the glider from collapsing, but we are looking for un stable air, that’s how we can get higher, fly longer, and go farther, that being said I’ve landed early a lot of times because it was just too strong, then you have the problem of landing in those conditions which is a skill in itself. Either way it’s better to be on the ground wishing you where in the air than in the air wishing you where on the ground.
Those clouds could be the sign, I remember from my hang gliding days, bumpy clouds or raggedy looking clouds could mean rough air, thanks for sharing, oh i'm learning to fly ppg
Nice videos. I’m the guy that’s 35 minutes from you. I’ve had several really nice evening flights in the past couple weeks. But I too get uncomfortable when it gets bumpy. Let’s meet up and fly one evening.
@@WillFly I'm in knightdale so I'm about 15 minutes away. Nc sure has blown up lately with ppg pilots, look forward to meeting in the near future! Blue skies
Nice camerawork and editing. I'm just starting out with ppg and video editing.... what set ups are you using and what video editing/post production are you using? Colours seem really bright.... did you alter much?
Scott Reed thank you for the note. I use 3 cameras, helmet, chase, and 360 camera on a selfie stick. I used to edit in IMovie but just started using Final Cut Pro on my Mac. I don’t edit the color.
Scott Reed I use a GoPro Max on a selfie stick to capture the front view. I really love that camera. I had originally bought an Insta360 One R for 360 footage but it would shut down with heavy vibration. So I actually use the Insta360 on the chase cam which may be overkill... but the footage does look nice.
A few things; I’ve grown to better understand the wing / trust this wing so I don’t freak out in turbulence, and I’ve learned that I don’t have to be brave. If the flight is not fun, just land and fly another day. I’ve also become better are reading and interpreting wind forecast apps so I only fly when in conditions I like.
Yeah, it’s a good question. I guess there are levels. Nervousness begins to go away and then you begin to enjoy the flight more and more. You probably get comfortable somewhere between 10 and 25 flights.
@@ParamotorNC Thanks for the reply I only have 6 so far and my 5th flight had some nasty turbulence. I will post the video in the next day or so. My camera took out much of the movement. The turbulence made me question did I make the wrong decision getting into this hobby. I will keep pushing through.
@@craigdieterich Due to work and family plus some repairs lol I only have 13 flights. I am still giving it the good Ole college try. Right now I am waiting for my new line because I forced a launch and cut it in the prop.

Beautiful views, and interesting topic. Looking forward to future videos. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks James. I was debating whether or not to publish, but I thought that some newer paramotor pilots would appreciate the subject.
Nice video; I can definitely relate to bump anxiety!
Thanks Eric. Appreciate the note.
Mark from Florida here,. Keep Flying brother.
Thanks 👍

I fly out of Indian Trail NC (15 miles east of Charlotte). NC is a great location for flying PPG!
“Tis a far, far better thing to be down here wishing you were up there than to be up there wishing you were down here ! “
I’m still struggling with bumpiness and appreciate your videos. I have grown more anxious over time. I’m hoping it goes away soon!

Lol I read the name as ven-tusky, not ventu-sky. What I dingus I am. But thanks for the app tip, I just downloaded it.
new pilot here trying to get my bump tolerance up! any rough air scares me to death!
Turns out that you should take your time. There is no rush. But can slowly ease into bumpier conditions.
You need more subs!
