A question: Is keto so bad for gastritis? I've always soffered of a "bearable" gastritis and recently, do also to the bad moment we are all experiencing, it's worsen a lot.... I gave a look at which food are good and which bad and it turned out that a ketogenic diet is really bad for gastritis. Red beef, fatty cheese, fat in general, crucifers, coffee...in a nutshell everything I've been eating since I switched to a keto lifestyle. Furthermore, in order to avoid an overproduction of gastric acids it's suggested to have frequent meals, the opposite of OMAD..... I wander if the benefits of a ketogenic diet plus I.F. aren't more harmful than beneficial for me.......and for those who suffer of gastritis. Please tell me something about it or made a video.. I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one interested in this subject
@Dr. Eric Berg Thanks so much for the video. Do you have any dietary advice for someone with potassium slightly high? (5.7 mmol/L) .. other liver/potassium tests were in ref range: from lowest to highest were Creatinine, BUN followed by Chloride, Sodium and CO2 at the top of ref range... might eliminating sugar or regularly fasting dinner to lunch and cutting out snacks allow the kidneys to do a better job ridding the body of excess potassium? Or should i cut out high potassium foods? I'm vegetarian and eat many high potassium foods such as potatoes, bananas, prunes, spinach and various beans. for planning a potassium blood re-test, is there any special way i should eat or not eat before the next blood test to help check if I have a serious problem?
Likewise. I tested at 5.6 mmol/L My kidney & liver function were fine on the blood test. I was getting chest pains which is a symptom associated with Hyperkalemia. It's since cooled off since I've reduced the potassium in my blood. I was feeling extreme stress and anxiety that month so the chest pain could've very well been from something else. The doctor prescribed me Sodium Polystyrene Sulfanate a week later, then had me come for more blood screening the day after taking SPS. The day after taking SPS, my levels were at 3.9 mmol/L. A week later my level is at 4.5 mmol/L. I got the levels back to normal through a combination of dieting and fasting. I also added magnesium and zinc since I (and most people) are deficient of those minerals. My Doctor told me he believes it was diet related, but I'd like to undergo a deeper battery of tests if possible. In my case I believe the culprit might've been eating/drinking too much junk (I was downing lots of orange juice, lemonade, and other sugary fruity drinks high in potassium) and partying a bit too hard on the alcohol. It could be an Acute problem with the kidneys in all of our cases too where for whatever it wasn't dumping potassium fast enough during that period, before it got back to functioning like normal. Very well could've been false reading in our cases as well, as I hear it's VERY common depending on how the blood is drawn, how the blood is handled, or if it takes too long from the time of the blood being drawn to the time the samples are being tested. The important thing is to keep up with the dieting and making sure to test as often as needed.
Dr Berg. Hello. I have been looking to your presentations to find out what foods can be eaten when someone has hyperkalemia . I am confused by the foods that are listed as bad (in my search), and there is a sense of 'there is no food that is good'. I see starvation ahead because all of the foods that are good to maintain a healthy body, have potassium. Please help my stressful diet. I am in Jamaica.
He said it's less from diet and instead caused by other things... It could be NSAIDs or High Blood pressure medicine. My mom has Hyperkalemia and also high blood pressure. Her doc had her stop some of the high blood pressure medicine and it reduced... Maybe watch the video again to get some other ideas -- like the sodium bicarbonate. I hope you find something to help.

Hello Dr. Berg! Been following you for a while but missed this video. My mother has hyperkalemia but she thinks her arrhythmias are just bad cardiovascular genetics in our family. She is 55 and a pharmacist. Obviously, she tries to treat herself with pharma (heart medicine, powdered magnesium and vitamin pills) but to no avail and she is just getting worse over the years. She also has terrible leg cramps, especially in the evening. A year ago she was hospitalized because of mineral deficiency in her blood (after an evening with a bottle of vine) and got a system infusion and she got better for a while. So many things correlate with this video it's crazy! I told her to get in at least 1 juiced lemon a day, would it help her or what should an optimal health boost look like? She's not obese but neither athletic, constantly tired so she can't do intense workouts, her physical activity is mostly walking and occasional low-intensity aerobics. She still believes you need to drink 2liters of water a day and that dietary cholesterol is bad... I'm trying to educate her on this but it's a bit like talking to a wall because she believes she and family doctors, multimedia trending dietitians are smarter in health questions. And starts to believe otherwise only if she hears something reinforcing my claims on tv or reads it in the local newspaper/magazine.

Passing this along! I have a family member who has this
Same with me, except I'm not vegetarian. All other levels were normal...makes me wonder if it's coffee intake.
I'm got a elavated level borderline pottasium
Potassium does work for afib. I use it for that.
Can you do varicruse veins and thc and the endocrine system in relation to hormones?
Interested in this as well.
Hi! I will check with Dr. Berg about doing a video on this subject.

Hello doc , my potassium level is 5.5. It’s high. How I reduce it to get normal.
Thank you so much for this Dr. Berg!! My mother has diabetes, high blood pressure and was recently diagnosed with hyperkalemia due to a medication called Declofenac that she was taking for arthritis!! Now I can work with her on a better renal diet!!💖🙏🏼🙏🏼
What does is it mean if your patassuim blood test says canceled

Thanks Dr Berg. I take potassium supplements , magnesium, Benfotiamine for my neuropathy. Now my BP is sky high at 20/10 and doctor gives me medication , a combination of a bèta blocker and a diuretic. I raised my potassium intake by food and by supplementing. Because I thought potassium lowers BP. Now you say potassium can increase BP and can be harmful if high BP. What should I do ?
🤔Tell your Doctor and get advice on what would you need to be supplementing with. Dr Berg is not a MD so won't advise you and MD's won't advise you on TH-cam comments anyway. Have your Doctor send you to the Lab for Blood Work.
@@KETO_DIET I did ! A little high on potassium. So quit taking supplement.
Dr. A very close friend, whom has passed away. She also was a marijuana user. Before flying overseas, she has a physical and blood work done. Her potassium levels were very high. Having never had high potassium levels before, she was convinced it's was the new potent weed she was smoking. So she stopped smoking the weed for a few days, had a new potassium test and it came back perfect! I bring this up because so many are smoking weed today could this fact cause high potassium??
sorry to hear this
damn that's possible i smoke that
@@majorlionzion To be clear, my friend passed away from cancer! I spoke to my doctor about potassium levels and the blood work she had and my doctor told or me that when you have blood work done, they don't check for marijuana in your blood. So it's possible the marijuana caused the high potassium levels.

DR BERG YOU DIDNT SAY HOW TO LOWER POTASSIUM?😮
Don’t take it and drink too much water and increase sodium 😂
Yes he did. Treatment is smack in the middle of the damn board.
He said to drink baking soda water also he said the kidneys can filter out high levels of potassium
Thank you for the amazing video dr. Berg. I would like to know what test is called to know how much potassium in the cell? I can’t find the link 😢 Thank you ❤
Thank you for this helpful information. You mentioned there is a test to determine how much potassium is actually in the cell. I don’t see the link you said you would provide. Would you mind sharing this information. Thank you!
should I be taking potassium citrate or potassium gluconate?
Thank you
Dr thanks 😊 🙏
I have Addison’s disease, so are you saying I should not take any potassium?
Hello Dr.
How do you feel to be out of the box?
Thanks for this useful information.
I am a little bit lost on this video because my heart flutters sometimes with the funny heartbeat.. so I want to know should I continue taking your electrolyte powder or should I just stop taking it.. cus electrolyte powder have a lot of potassium in it...
@mike maldonado not at all.. the main food what I eat is chicken and pasta I too much don't eat nothing else besides that.. and I know something is wrong cuz are we few hours my heart flutter.. and my breathing is off
@@robertbutlerr3467 I have similar symptoms I got told I have silent GERD and they put me in PPIs for 6 weeks then get an endoscopy to see how much narrowing has occurred.
I took them reluctantly for 9 days then stopped- the side effects were horrible.
I’m probably doing more damage when I eat tho.
At 3am when not hungry I can randomly get stomach acid triggered then have to sit up for a while.
My airway has narrowed a lot to the point where I went to emergency a month ago then had hoarseness and stridor which I still have now upon breathing out through my nose.
Do you have this?
It’s super frustrating to not be able to breathe out properly- my abdomen now protrudes significantly and feels full of carbon dioxide I can’t remove with normal breathing.
It’s making exercise impossible.

Most welcome! Glad you found it helpful.
Great information. Is it possible to have high Potasium in the blood, but normal level in the cells? Meaning, that the Dr. will recommend on treatment that is not neccesary and can cause harm. Is there any kit that one can check the Potassium levels INSIDE the cells? Thank you.

I just had my labs done before my hernia repair and this is the first time I've ever had slightly higher potassium levels. I'm wondering if it is the pseudo one.
Hey Doc....When will your Electrolyte powder be back in stock?
I've been taking your electrolyte powder daily. I was just prescribed 12.5 mg of Losartan. It says not to take potassium supplements, so I guess I'll have to discontinue the electrolyte powder for the time being.
Please make video on muscle power mechanism
What if its a hair test showing high potassium? Is that a good indicator?
I was drinking your Dr Berg electrolyte powder, and that caused significant heart palpitations. I went to a cardiologist and they determined it was from your product. I stopped taking and went off keto and the palpitations went away.
Too much potassium intake cause abnormal heart rhythm
If your taking too much might be the issue or if you have some individual problem. Just stop with the formula.
Did you do keto for health problems? Or youre ok?
Does keto diet cause high potasium???? 🤔
@brad b same here I’m having palpitations and I’m tired. Scared to sleep at night. I’m going to stop taking it

Dr Berg, my blood test results have recently showed elevated potassium. I suspect that i have a reoccurrence of a parathyroid adenoma. Ive read, online, that hyperparathyroidism can cause or is linked to hyperkalemia. My kidney EGFR is also below 90 ( 82) and I'm experiencing kidney pain and left side weakness. Im having further bloods done; vitamin D, PTH, Magnesium and calcium as well as 24 hour urine collection test. What are your thoughtsc on this? Am I right in suspecting hyperparathyroidism?
I have psoriasis. Is nutritional yeast ok? Since it contains wheat.

Of the last six blood tests, five potassium levels were 5.0 to 5.3. My doctor blew me off. Six weeks ago I had an arrhythmia from a brain freeze while drinking a cold drink too fast. It left me with either Afib or heavy palpitations. Am now wearing a heart monitor. Have to wonder about my 5.1 potassium level which is what it has been since I had the arrhythmia which I reduced with the Valsalva maneuver. I had my magnesium tested and it was right in the middle for both serum and red blood cell.
5.1 isn't high at all, nist symptoms don't appear until levels are greater than 6. Most doctors won't treat anything less than 5.5.
@@maddawgzzzz Thanks!
How is your arrhythmia now? I had this 4 months ago and started back on my K2 supplement and it is almost gone.
@@patriciaalexander919 Turns out I went into Atria Firbrillation when I had that brain freeze. My esophagus must have triggered a nerve in the atrium. I had to get cardioinverted. Thankfully it worked on the first attempt! I feel so much better now!

When the cell is damaged releasing the potassium into the bloodstream....could we be observing the body recycling the desperately needed potassium back into the operating system?
I think that’s exactly what he meant by pseudohyperkaleimia.
I've been on KETO for a while, I eat the same thing everyday-one a day. I recently started to feel light-headed throughout the day but not dizzy. Do you think it might be due to low iron? I take a multivitamin as well.
Several things could cause it- a blood test would be wise rather than just assuming iron.
Silmar why do you eat the same thing everyday?
Dr . Berg has a video a bout light -head sensations , I have had the same problem sometimes and drinking a glass of water mixed with 2tbls of apple cider vinegar and some Himalayan salt helped or take some electrolyte powder
@@awazsulaiman6852 he’s eating the same thing every day- he could have nutritional deficiencies for all we know.
It’s irresponsible to pretend ACV is a cure all for everything.
He needs to go get an accurate blood test done and reconsider his diet- he could be deficient in a number of things.
ACV and salt as a solution to what is likely a bigger problem is just suggesting that he delay the inevitable.

Spiderm83, Dr. Berg has more videos on this topic. If I remember correctly, the research shows that the body will take the potassium out of the cells in order to keep the blood levels stable if you do not have enough dietary intake.
