    My first thought is that event would be a good time to put the Drone in the air to look the area over. I feel that a drone flying over would be less of an impact on the new mother.

      They use this breed of dog to protect the fairy penguins on an island here off of the coast of Australia. Beforehand, wild dogs were killing them. Now, the Pyrenees goes every night to guard them. It was discovered by accident. One Pyrenees showed an instinctive need to protect the penguins, and it continues. Wonderful dogs.

    I love watching Dunbar dance. That is one of the happiest bison I’ve ever seen. I understand he’s a wild animal but he is truly happy when you and baby Brooks drive up to the fence line and he knows he’s going to get a treat. I also think he’s proud of his herd. He’s showshowing you look what I’ve done dad, look what I have done! All these red dog babies are mine. He is one proud papa. I would love to purchase a T-shirt with Dunbars beautiful face on it.

If you are then you should know that allowing Brooke to be around those Bison the way he has let her will remove fear that she may normally have had for the animals. I have watched all of Dusty's videos and I have seen him turn his back to Brooke while she was hanging onto the gate with Big Joe right there. Brooke could have been through that gate in a second. As a parent you would know that it only takes a split second for a toddler to get into something they should not be into. Dusty you do realize when you feed them a treat after you've told them to stop or back off it's counter productive? You're rewarding them for behavior you scolded them for a minute before..

    • @kimbersann08
      @kimbersann08 3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      I think when he says back off and stop that's just a natural human response to the situation. He knows the treats are the closest "back off" and "stop" as he can get. A distraction if you will. They respond to his temperament/tone and treats. So counter productive isn't an issue here.

    • @kcallaghan7839
      @kcallaghan7839 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I saw that too. Making them wait usually works.Good idea to give some and make them wait. This time you had to move too fast to see the birth.This one didn't like that. Do you think you may have confused that one by your fast movements,thinking you might leave without getting enough? They usually get more time with you to be satified. Seems to want you to give some more by these sideward moves that aren't block you. I could be wrong. I think it would be safer though for you to have a binocular view of births from your phone. See from a greater distance. This may be good when they are farther away in protecting their young too. I ordered a few today. I would like to gift you with one when I receive them. I could send to store or maybe po box. I can try to call tee shirt # when They come in. See if U want 1 ❤ your videos get a little nervous though.

      @@anntrope491 Not exactly sure who you are, but perhaps you aren't aware that this is average farming of cattle. Even the people with like 50 or 60 head of cattle go and walk out with their animals, and everybody knows each other. Even the kids. Yes, it's probably the most dangerous job, but this is how it's done. That he is raising bison and repopulating our country with these beautiful guys is even better.

      To all who say, he knows his bison, he's barely had 2 years of running bison. He may be good at some things but not everything. Imagine holding the baby, filming with camera and also driving right into calving season, rewarding the bull (that's making challenging behaviour at him, the vehicle and the little girl) with cubes. The bull is also young but he is learning how to push the man, steadily day by day growing stronger and you know, most entire male beasts, once they reach a certain age, they get real ornery, real bulls are towering giants. Majestic

      He should have revved the engine loudly and stood stock still when bull was carrying on not driven away from it. Bluff charging bull won't advance unless enraged. This lad has not dealt with an older bull bison. They don't react like a cow or a human. They have their own millions of years of inbuilt instinct to dominate and protect. Most farmers sell off at slaughter weight. They seldom accumulate experience with fully matured specimens hence the ignorance of most of the comments section. Older wiser cow hands trying to politely tell him stuff... I want to pray he gets a good fright then some serious talking to by a older wiser man.... please God help this family and, save the bull from getting shot or sent to slaughter for becoming unmanageable by an inexperienced investor.

      @@janefreer4707 I read ya loud and clear. I dug into his channel. His wife is working and he has the child to mind plus they have a small business plus a social media effort to raise more money so he films the bisons. He carries the child in one arm and camera in the other whilst driving open vehicle into the calving. So I dug deeper. He's had the beasts less than 3 yrs. started off 2018, has no experience with mature bulls. His followers call the bull daddy and "Dunbar" like it's a funny puppy. He responds %100 wrong to the young bull's bluff charging and he gives him those rewards to placate. The followers praise him for his daughter who can barely walk being held in one arm whilst he's driving and filming with the other. I've posted a 1 minute live video of a bison charging and tossing a little girl atleast ten feet in the air, people running and screaming, all of three seconds the bull made contact. Thus we feel true gut feelings.... red flags.... we warn a,d the followers mock us and say we are city folk and that "he knows his bison" which he started in a small way with no idea less than 3 yrs ago. Here's the bison thundering and tossing a little girl th-cam.com/video/f2ZwTEX8pRA/w-d-xo.html

    Oh. My. Heart!!! Babies of ANY kind just put a lump in my throat & your red dogs are no exception!! Brooks and her cuteness factor are just a "given!!"❤ I know Dunbar is what he is, but the fact that he will "dance" like that & eat out of your hand (& try to lick Brooks) just makes it seem to me that other than truly stressful times for your bison, they trust you & have gotten used to the routines of your ranch. I know they can be unpredictable, but to see Dunbar in particular act like he did with you and Brooks warms my heart too. It's almost like a huge overgrown dog dancin' for his treats!! You're obviously good at what you do, & good to your animals. Kudos to you and congrats on all those beautiful red dogs!!❤❤❤
