I can get an open box xtool d9s pro from xtool for $750 right now. I was gonna get the topdon phoenix smart for $1600. I can’t decide. I like the scope of the topdon (costs 500 more) but it’s not necessarily a deal maker.
Hi nice basic review . I have a D9 pro. I brought it for it’s claimed CAN FD and DOIP connectivity. Can you demonstrate these please? For several manufacturers it claims full OEM ecu updates and re programming. To do these you need a good internet connection, a usb 3 cable between the tool and the VCI and the Bluetooth off. Perhaps you could hook up to a scrap ecu on the bench and describe this please? Mine might have a fault? When you connect the VCI test plug and power the head off 12 V one input show NG? Does yours do that? Many thanks
One thing I like from the AUTEL is once you get a trouble code there is an option to go online in links related to it; very important for a do it yourself like me; not a mechanic; I actually upgraded to the Xtool D8 BT on sale for cyber Monday here in USA, then will return the AUTEL, also the AUTEL looks better, more pro looking; I will have both and will do a side by side comparison before returning AUTEL. The reason to stay with Xtool is updates and updates prices after the 3 years expirration while AUTEL is only one year and UI read they kind of brick the device after that to force you into upgrading somehow; don't know if true or not.
Connect your D8 to the internet If you read fault, tap on the fault code search 🔍 icon this will take you to the internet and show you videos or websites with solutions to that particular fault
Xtool does the same Read fault codes then tap on the little search icon next to the fault code it will take you on line to same fault topics or videos😊
IT IS TRUE about Autel bricking themself after updates timeline expiration. I saw it. Those money suckers even do it within 30 day period of inactivity- you cannot even turn it on without upgrading first. Screw all them - respect yourself and buy a SNAP-ON! The best toy ever for big boys lol

I just bought a D9pro and it doesn't have the Chevrolet cars on it when I tried to read the odometer I just got shocked... On other function also couldn't find most cars or a very few under each brand .. a cheap scanner can do better than that
Does this cover a 2021 GMC Sierra? You should show what year they cover up to since this is the main thing you do is give a review of the product. I just bought a D8 and it only does up to 2020 even Though 20-21 same exact thing to the T!
It says it can but I find a lot of missing programming on this tool....get a Launch X431! We used a Launch X431at a big body shop I worked for and it did most vehicles.
hello brother, please give me a scanner that I haven't used before.. I'm poor so I can't afford such an expensive scanner.. Thank you very much God bless you ❤️❤️ I'm from the Philippines
Xtool is kinda waste of time product. I own a D8 tool, and it doesn't do what they promise to do, or features that show up that D8 can do. Many TH-camrs post the "run down" of the tool with their 8% discount code. It's all good, but when push comes to shove, and you need the device to reset, for example, a theft deterrent system after battery swap or engine swap, it doesn't complete the task. Also has issues working with BMW and Chevy Volts. Do not get me wrong, it can roll down your window and show you live data, but so can most $200 scan tools. When it comes to crucial programming or immobilizer reset, forget about it. When contacting Xtool, they initially respond but then after you follow their instruction and it still doesn't work, they completely ignore your emails or WhatsApp chat. Waste of time and money for our shop. This is from a mechanic standpoint, not just a youtube browser through the program. That's how they get the sales, with fancy features that don't actually do the job, but features are listed. When they say it's "too good to be true," it probably is. I was once excited too for Xtool and took the hook. Now I know why Autel and Snapon cost so much and aren't lowering their prices. They know who their competitors are and aren't falling for it. I see more and more comments like mine of people coming out and complaining about Xtool customer service and overall product. My advice, look for mechanics who actually use the tool day in and day out, not a review specialist. I wish Xtool was what it lists to be.
Got an AUTEL and like it just fine but the updates only 1 year and prices after that is what wins me to Xtool, I am not a career mechanic and both these ones are overkill for me but I happen to be able to pay for them comfortably in payments so why not? I will keep one for future works in our 2 old cars; Dealer wanted to charge me $150 for diagnostic; got the AUTEL and after giving me the diagnostic and investigating online the given code, I resolved the issue in my case was code P0010 and the end result was car was a little low on oil which was changed recently; once i added it and reset the code it has not come back, now i know what to look for if it does; could I trust the dealer or ANY mechanic to tell me it was nothing? Hell no! so these tools helps people like me; and you are right; the trouble code could be obtained even for free at Autozone, without even expending anything on any scan tool
100% agree with you, the tool is rubbish it can only read and clear fault codes thats it, all the special features i have tested have been useless, error after error.
*Time Well Wasted yes i said that* !! . tool does not stream line the fault code pids for what you wish to view there for you are forced to go throw pages and pages and pages of pids you dont want to find the pids you do want . not very efficient yous of my time .Having to look up more than one ERROR code becomes tedious and tiring in a garage setting .
I’m sorry it’s a poor review! If this is a Professional Scanner then why show turning off Air Bag and Injector which I could probably do with an OBD scanner from Aldi 🤷🏼. The review needs to be of the more complicated service resets: Adblue, Nox, DPF reset or a coding issue and maybe on a vehicle that is renowned to be more difficult not VW, Audi again that I could probably access with an old Sinclair ZX Spectrum. Sorry!
Will you please do a review on the new Xtool D9S Pro which is the updated version of the D9 Pro?
I am doing a engine swap , would i be able to change the VIN with this on like the modules e.g ecm , bcm , tcm , srs .... Ect ..
Can you still program/flash engine ECUs without the J2534 protocol feature?

I can't make a simple Keyfob replacement on Volvo, Audi or BMW unless I spend another $600 on KC501 tool. For my simple need, it was waste of money.

Thank you
Yes, they do...and he breaks it down with a printout and explanation.
