Good explanation. Personally what i feel is missing the most from all building tips videos, is the part where one makes decisions based off of other factors. The big picture stuff, which you did mention at one point in this video. As an avid builder, i know these are the things that are hard to explain. But theyre also the foundation of what your build is going to look like, what your personal style is. Maybe it could be a cool idea to show different elements seperately (think different amounts of depth, colour, detail) and help people think of building in more of a jigsaw puzzle way, instead of a blank canvas. You decide on most of the pieces beforehand based on some references, then you create a puzzle piece ingame which youre happy with, repeat, put the pieces together, and eventually you finish your self made jigsaw puzzle
Haha. Im doing exactly the same in my playthrough. Started fast, unlocked everything I needed to build nice, I mass dismantled everything and started from scratch doing cool builds. I don't even know what space elevator parts im supposed to be doing. No hub and no space elevator for a really long time now.
Loved the video and pace. Subscribed. I definitely need to start making walls out of foundations. Seems really good, and it's another tool to make my factories different from one another. Next one will probably be made like that. Thanks for the awesome video! Cheers!
When I build big box factories (and I do) it doesn't mean I'm noob. It just means it's a waste of time to build all the flare with the provided 3D objects we get in version 1.0. There's nothing wrong with the creative approach of adding hundreds directions, angles and stacks and colors to the existing objects. What I don't personally like is working hard, when I can work smarter. Coffee Stain Studios hasn't done enough to provide the shapes and objects that leverage my time and energy to make factories look like real factories. So, they look like boxes instead.
What i usually do is just to build without a roof and walls . After i've built a factory, i bulid the frame walls around it . Looks really cool in the dune desert, like if the open design helps to cool the machines
I get what youre saying, but his box did not fulfill the basic needs of what he has in mind (for example access to a road in the way he envisions), so it had to go. If you liked it how it was, you could add basic windows and pillars for depth and variation, or play around trying to find some interesting details by yourself. You can keep the starter box, but the shape will always just feel like a box. This is not a bad thing if you like it that way. But it is something that "good" builds tend to avoid since often it doesnt give much to work with and make your own
Make this a series! This is the most in depth, but simple building tutorial on TH-cam. Great job!

I like the sped up style. Keep it up for this type of video.

True but there are many mods that fix this, and it's ok to play with mods, it's fine as long as you enjoy what they offer you
Well, real factories are almost always big boxes
Love this. Will be super helpful

How are you zooping inverted ramps?!?
I build box factories, but it's cool looking boxes
fast mode for sure !! i get impatient lol
Looks great, but I thought you were going to fix the box build. You practically deleted everything and made a complete new build. No change, all new.
