@@gabrielleannacormierart Hello Gabrielle Thank you for answering my questions. When I growd up I want to an artist just like you. But seriously I cannot get over your gift. Do you do acrylic also? @@chantalmassin1756 you’re welcome! Yes, I work with acrylics and I also work with oil paint, resin, alcohol inks, etc. I love to create and I’m always experimenting 😁 With watercolors it’s important to start with the lightest values or colors first because dark colors are hard to cover and Watercolor paint is transparent. Gouache can be used for more opaque coverage when you are nearing the end of a painting process. But, it’s not necessary to add gouache if you build from light to dark. I this helps! Beautiful paintings ! Listening to you just soothes my soul.Thank you for not pretending to be perfect you are so real in your art. What paints are the ones with the gold in the pallet and where can I get them 💞your fan from North Dakota
Hi Nancy 😊 Thank you so much for being so supportive and kind! ❤️ I grew up being taught perfectionism was something to strive for and it nearly drove me into the ground. Understanding it’s an unattainable ideal has helped me approach my art with more self-compassion. And happiness has come more easily with this understanding. ☺️ There are two pallets I used in this video is called Decadent Pies, by Watercolor Confections. I bought them online through Amazon. I love the gold in this relatively affordable little palette! It’s creamy, beautiful and offers good coverage. The palette as a whole is really lovely. I also use it to blend skin tones when I paint my little whimsical portraits. I hope this helps! Thank you for reaching out 😊
wow ! thanks for sharing this process. about how long do you usually wait for a layer to dry before continuing to the next layer ? I've seen some use a hair dryer to expedite this part.
You’re welcome! When I can, I prefer to let my paper air dry. But this can take a while (an hour +) because I live in a humid climate. To speed things up, I do use a hair dryer at times. It’s best to use it on the cool air setting, especially if you use tape around the border of your paper. Using hot air can make the glue from the tape adhere to the paper more. And then it becomes a challenge to remove the tape without tearing the paper. I hope this helps! Thank you for watching and for making the time to reach out ☺️❤️
Hi and thank you for your kindness ☺️ That first little wash of colors is usually mostly just for me to get my process going. It breaks up the white on the paper and adds a hint of color to my background without having to commit to anything stronger when I’m just starting my process and may still needs to feel my way to what I’ll do next. I do not tend to stretch my paper before starting to paint. Instead, I use an iron to flatten my artwork when I’m done. I hope this helps ☺️
Hi Chantal ☺️ It usually helps to use a limited palette because it makes the painting process simpler. I tend to just paint intuitively and don’t generally like to follow rules. My best advice is experiment and see what speaks to you . What matters most is that you love what you create ❤️
Hello ❤️ thanks for watching! I believe I have all my materials listed in my video description. But, just in case I didn’t do this in so many details for this video, I usually use a Uniball Signo pen in white and a pilot pen for my black ink (ball point or fountain pens because they work well and won’t get damaged by the rough texture of the watercolor paper). I hope this helps ☺️
Hi Chantal ☺️ I have heard from other artists that they feel hard water does affect the painting process and for this reason they use distilled water. I personally have not experienced this issue and so it’s difficult for me to confirm or deny these claims. My best advice to you would be to buy some distilled water (it’s usually relatively cheap at the grocery store) and try to do a comparison. For me, the thing that changes the process the most is the quality of the paints and the quality of the paper. However, if you are just starting out, I would encourage you to start with inexpensive products, see if you enjoy it and then consider spending a little bit more money on your products. I hope this helps 🤗
Just found you and I’m thrilled! Please tell me the weight and surface of the paper you use as well as the colors of paint, and the kind of marker and pens.Thank you.
Hi Patricia 😊 I’m happy you’re joining me on his journey! I used cold pressed Watercolor paper by Strathmore (140 lb). The colors I used for this painting are from the Decadent Pies watercolors confections palette. The black marker I work with is from Zig and the white pen is a Uniball Signo pen by Pentel. I hope this helps! 😊
My favorite white pen is this one amzn.to/45zJ0G4 by Pentel ☺️ They work really well, especially when they are new. But, when applying the ink over paper that is very saturated with watercolor pigment, even it will struggle a bit at times. For this reason, I also love to use gesso or gouache with a fine tip brush. Just as an FYI, I do usually list all of the products I use in my video description. I hope this helps! ☺️
A new subscriber new to yr art can you help by telling the no of yr brushes yr using Totally smitten amazing tutorials and art thank you From New Zealand 😊
Kia ora ❤️ Thank you so much for subscribing and for making the time to connect! I appreciate your kindness ☺️ Since you're in NZ and I'm not sure the same brushes I use are available there, I'll give you a link to a set you can hopefully look at and then use that as a reference to buy something similar: amzn.to/3I9Dv7e. This is a little travel set I bought years ago and I still love using it. For the painting in this video, I used a mop brush (like the large round brush in this set: amzn.to/3ORO1DP), a number 14 round brush, a number 4 filbert and a number 2 round brush. I would recommend buying a small inexpensive set and experimenting with them. Companies seem to size their brushes differently and it may be difficult to find a set with the exact sizes. But, if you get yourself a set with some small, medium and larger sized brushes, you'll be off to a good start. The most important thing is that you start exploring your creativity and over time, no matter the brushes you use, you'll feel more comfortable. I hope this helps! I'm sending you a special 🤗 I love NZ!! It's where my husband and I met while we were both traveling independently. 🥰
Enjoyed watching the painting in process, but for me, the music is distracting, repetitive, and unnecessary. Listening to your thought processes is enough.

@@chantalmassin1756 you are so welcome! 🤗 Happy experimenting!
@@gabrielleannacormierart you are so kind to reply to my comment thank you

Any alternative to isopropyl alcohol? I don't have that available but I have rubbing alcohol, would that work too?
Yes, rubbing alcohol should work as well ☺️
@@gabrielleannacormierart Awesome, thank you so much!
@@EvanBear ☺️🤗
What white pen do you use I struggle to find a good flowing white one .
@@gabrielleannacormierart thank you I appreciate the reply ❤️
@@TJ-zs7gn You're welcome ☺
Are you Posca pens oil? And what are you white pens?
Hi Patricia 😊 the Posca pens I use are acrylic paint. My favorite white pen is a Uniball Signo by Pentel
A new subscriber new to yr art can you help by telling the no of yr brushes yr using
Totally smitten amazing tutorials and art thank you
From New Zealand 😊
very much like aboriginal art in Australia
That’s a nice compliment! Thank you 😊
Just found you and loved this video so subs tuned today 4 June 2023
Thank you so much for subscribing and for watching Vanessa!! ☺️
Enjoyed watching the painting in process, but for me, the music is distracting, repetitive, and unnecessary. Listening to your thought processes is enough.
Thank you so much for making the time to share your perspective with me ❤️
Another COVID variant 😆
😂 This one is benign and the more you create it, the better you feel 😂
