Endri Mirto The ghost girl from generation 5 is creepier in my opinion. Not only are the locations creepier but there’s actual lore behind it. Some might say not knowing what happens is scarier but for me it means it stops being creepy after it’s first seen. Black and White 2 especially expands on the story. (And the Strange House is so creepy.)

There's also that picture with the red eyes which is quite unnerving, for me the bw2 strange house lost it's creepiness once all that build up led to just a lunar wing... The chateau led to near nothing (at most was rotom) and it had the perfect level of creepy music whereas strange house was lacking (perhaps due to bw2 N's room existing)
Yes, Platinum did heavily improve on Diamond and Pearl but lets not trash those games because its always easier (or at least less difficult) to make a superior game from a solid template

Joe Green what happened to Ultra sun and moon was worse. Instead of using the Ultra Recon squad and team rocket to make a new story they just rehashed sun and moon with a couple changes and slapped Team rocket at the end. Imagine this: team rocket joins the more corrupt members of the recon squad to steal the light from many dimensions so when you go to the megalopolis you actually have to fight Team Rocket and recon squad members. The main ones you see throughout the game are part of a resistance against the corruption. After Necrosma is captured, you must save Aether Foundation (Lusamine has been reformed at this point.) where the rr story happens but it’s way longer, forcing you to chase Ghetsis and Giovanni throughout the region trying to take down their bases. Just an idea though.
I liked them adding Cyrus' grandfather too, since he gives a pretty solid explanation for Cyrus' hatred of emotions and his desire to be a god: he could never live up to his parents' unreasonable expectations, despite being a prodigy, and was implied to have been emotionally abused, since his grandfather wanted to step in but never did. He's motivated by his own experiences with depression and resentment, and even the desire to be a god makes sense, since gods are seen as perfect beings, which is more solid than just hating emotions because they can cause problems.
I agree. Platinum was my first game, and Will forever be my favourite game. All the other gen 4 games are also up there as favourites, they just all feel so good to play and give you a good feeling imo.
Gen 4 is amazing and it’s my 2nd favorite gen. Gen 4 gave us so good Pokémons so when I saw gen 5 I was really disappointed at the Pokémon roster they gave us. I only liked 30% of gen 5 while I liked 80% of gen 4 pokemons

I'd buy a r4 card & install the rom instead of buying the games from eBay. 1. they're damn expensive on eBay. 2. You download multiple games on a r4 card and downloading the roms is free. 3. You can use cheats (these come with the roms) to access places that require Nintendo Wifi items (Nintendo Wifi servers are down so it's impossible with the official game). 4. A r4 card costs around $30 while the games cost around $50 on eBay.
Well it also made the story mode harder but the Elite 4 and Champion weak. Look Cyrus in Diamond is piss poor. In the final battle his team is weak. In Platinum his Hochcrow learns Drill Peck and it's annoying as all hell

Flint already had a complete fire team, aaron had a more broken vespiquen and cynthia now had a togekiss which is a nightmare due to serene grace and the consecutive flinches.
As a Diamond and Pearl player, I like that Platinum made Cyrus much smarter in his evil plan by researching Celestic Town in advance, realizes exactly what the depiction of the Lake Trio means despite your interference, and crafts 2 Red Chains knowing they can only neutralize one. It turns the climax of Diamond and Pearl on its head, is well foreshadowed, and was very unexpected to me at the time. Also it makes Cyrus not look like an idiot by letting you release the Lake Trio. Bunch of other stuff I could say about Platinum but thought I'd share that one.
Meloelebi Cyrus does still let you release the Lake Trio in Platinum as well as give you the Master Ball. I believe this was because he was subconsciously having second thoughts about what he wanted, and the embodiment of this was Giratina. This could also be why the Red Chain didn’t work post-battle in D/P. Because Cyrus subconsciously did not wish to create the New World, and his backstory and DW dialogue in Platinum where he essentially breaks down and acknowledges his anger (truly, sorrow, as a lot of people, especially men, express their sadness as anger instead and bottle up their emotions, as Cyrus unquestionably does) as the motive behind his actions make me think this is true.
No you can also get Flareon, Magmortar (post game) as well as Houndoom from the Poke Radar in post game in Diamond the only difference of them is that you can get Houndoom and Magmortar before post game in Platinum. @@zimonzieclown1633
Technically all the rotom forms were the same type in platinum... so flying type+levitate wasn’t an issue back then Fun fact, rotom is the only Pokémon to get a type change that wasn’t changed to a type introduced in the generation the change took place.
Masuda was right. Platinum IS the ultimate video game. People dislike Gen 4 bc there is literally TOO much to do... *My Bias: Super Contests, Ball Capsules/Seals, & raising Friendship just so happen to be my favorite mechanics of all time.* Nevertheless, DPPt (even the Gen 4 anime) were soooo slow & grindy, but that’s what made success within them soooo rewarding! The uniqueness of Gen 4, for me, revolves around the emphasis on experiencing & enjoying every aspect of the game. Platinum, especially, went all out on all fronts tho. If you wanna put off saving reality from Cyrus, digging for rare treasures in the Underground, or becoming the Sinnoh Champion to make Cher, your Shiny Eevee, a Contest Star, you can do it.
Unfortunately for me, there’s no access to Honchkrow... or Mismagius but Honchkrow is one, if not my favorite Cross-gen Evolutions. It kicked ass for me in Diamond.
After ORAS, I really don’t have much hope for a DP remake. Maybe it was because how great HGSS were. They took the differences from Gold and Silver, but they were mainly a Crystal Remake. And that was awesome. ORAS was really disappointing because the changes made in Emerald didn’t make it into the remakes. The updated gym teams, so that Winona and Lisa&Tate weren’t pushovers, and to nerf Norman a bit. Giving Watson an actual Hoenn Pokémon. And the Battle Frontier. Sadly, if we got DP remakes, I fear that they wouldn’t include the additions made in Platinum, like the expanded Pokedex, the Battle Frontier, and the enhanced plot.
I feel like GF rushed the remakes, instead of taking their times with developing it. I hope that they dont rush the DP remakes if they ever do develop them.
Gera WallStar sadly they wouldn’t. Dual releases has been a staple, they wouldn’t deviate. The best we can hope for is that they take inspiration from Platinum as they did take inspiration from Crystal when they remake Gold and Silver.

The back sprites were static animations in Emerald, so they really weren't anything special. In Platinum, we got Pokémon that make little movements, such as opening mouths and wing-flapping.
I was sad about what Giratina did to Cyrus. :( Also, I love Rotom. 💕 And his backstory with the Old Notebook, which strongly hints at Cyrus. And perhaps people only misunderstood Cyrus shunning Pokemon in favor of machines because they were unaware he was playing with Rotom the whole time and testing its limits as far as what it could do. . . . Then Charon plagiarized his research. .-.

Crystal is the same game as Gold/Silver, just with animated sprites and Eusine/Suicune arc. but on the other hand Platinum was a MASSIVE improvement in all aspects: speed, animations, story, postgame, Battle Frontier, Sinnoh Dex, fire types, improved elite 4/gym leaders and postgame rematches for all of them, etc. Diamond/Pearl might be nostalgic and all and might be the first games to introduce online battles/trading and all that, but they're mediocre games AT BEST (imo theyre shit)
@@remkoe yellow is the same game as red/blue, just with small changes as references to the anime (pikachu as starter, u can get all 3 kanto starters, Jessie & James, and some other small references like Pidgeotto appearing at Viridian Forest, Giovanni having a Persian or Tauros ratio at Safari Zone being increased from R/B). same thing for Crystal, its the exact same game as gold/silver but with animated front sprites and Eusine/Suicune story. Emerald & Platinum were the only 3rd versions with big changes (specially Platinum)
@Merciless Freak The difficulty wasn't any tougher than the previous generations, it's just that the newer games are a lot easier. Personally, I preferred it that way
@Merciless Freak lol I literally just played pokemon diamond again and got all 8 gym badges with ease. Just know the effectiveness of moves and you are good to go. All I did was battle trainers, no grinding by defeating wild pokemon.
I can't just sit back and let you trash talk Flint. Since the beginning, people have complained about Gym Leaders and Elite Four members being too easy because their shared type means shared weaknesses that can be easily exploited. GF takes that advice to heart and create Volkner and Flint, who rather than specializing in Electric-type and Fire-type Pokemon, respectively, specialize in Pokemon that know Electric-type and Fire-type moves. This allows their teams to have actual diversity, fewer repeated weaknesses, and just generally makes the fights with them require more thought and strategy. But, for whatever reason, even though this made the fights harder and more interesting while maintaining the traditional type specialist roles, and generally gave people exactly what they wanted, everybody hated it and still shits on them for it even this many years later. Platinum turning Volkner and Flint into "spam Earthquake and win without effort" was NOT an improvement.
The fire type specialist and electric type specialist having only 2 pokemon that fit their specialty as an elite 4 member and 8th gym leader with the others having literally nothing to do with the trainers isn't good (3 years later)
If it wasnt for the Battle Frontier in Pokemon Emerald, Platin would be my favorite BY A LIGHTYEAR The distortion world.. I remember so well how stunning it looked back then. It was so new and never seen before, the design was just breathtaking

Really grinds my gears when people say DP were trash, I loved having games revolving around the creation duo and having giratina as a surprise. Cynthia’s team was arguably better and some sprites were better than Platinums
Eddie Craig That’s why he’s amazing. Because he isn’t a full-on villain like Ghetsis and Giovanni. He’s somewhere in a grey area where he definitely does bad things, but not for unscrupulous reasons or power lust like Giovanni. In the end he’s young, inexperienced, and turbulent and the game itself acknowledges this, with Charon commenting that Cyrus is immature.
I personally like Sinnoh the most as a region and when I was younger I thought Sinnoh similar to my home country as Russia and only a few years ago I learned part of it is based off Russia. I lived in the Europe side of Russia but I have visited the Asia side many times including the part that the part of the Sinnoh region is based off of
Who else Is playing these games for nostalgia?? I remember playing Diamond then eventually Platinum as a little kid at age 10, started with Chimchar and solo'd it with an lvl 82 Infernape, lvl 66 Gastrodon, lvl 53 Staraptor with the rest of my team being around lvl 45 as the dumb kid I was at the time XD. I am 19 now, going to college/working full time, but in the light of the COVID-19 crisis, laid off from my job and being forced to stay home, I am playing pearl and platinum on an emulator on a Samsung Galaxy tab since I gave away my old DSi. I am hooked since it is so nostalgic. I'll be looking forward to a sinnoh remake in the future.
If they will make a remake of these games. This is my theory what will happen. Primal Dialga Primal Palkia Post Game- The post game would be like the Rayquaza post game in Oras. You will be able to catch Giratina in the Distortion World, but I don't know if it's going to have a Primal Or Mega form since the griseous orb already changes its form. Also The Adamant orb and the other orb for palkia will make Dialga And Palkia go primal, also I'm sorry for not knowing the orb for palkia. I have only played Diamond.
Platinum my VERY first game on the NDSi when DS was first released. Would had bought Pearl or Diamond (definitely Diamond because it had Dialga on the cover) but it had very mint game cover that was shiny...I have no regrets
Also for speed, I find d/p had some small lag after attacking in battle and before you gain exp, there's like a second of wait but it's still noticeable
Expanded Sinnoh Dex. More fleshed-out story. Looker. The Battle Frontier. Surfing speed matches running speed, thus being faster. Shard Move Tutors. Can trade Star Pieces for shards at Fuego Ironworks. Battle Zone is tropical climate. Stark Mountain is more volcanic, at least on the outside. Gyms are more properly ordered. The villa in the Resort Area. Can catch entire creation trio in one game. The Distortion World. The Battleground. Rotom's alternate forms. Team Galactic subplot at Stark Mountain. Charon. Cyrus's grandfather. Those are the advantages I think Platinum has over Diamond and Pearl. Although BD and SP definitely improved on the Underground.
I’ve never played Platimum or Pearl so it will always be Diamond for me. But man you throw some massive shade it D/P. They’re not “trash.” But I like how you can buy a house in Platinum.
honestly I think the sprites in diamond and pearl were a bit better than platinum. Also back sprite animations were in diamond and pearl. But the list was good though.
By back sprite animation they mean the pokemon actually moves (jaw opening, wings flap, etc.) In diamond and pearl they add an effect to the sprite but it doesn't actually move
Ive always liked diamond over pearl and platinum as i have more nastalgia for it and played it more, but platinum has improved the game alot from diamond and pearl and think it may have made it better

I love Platinum, but I think the thing that was off putting about it at the time was it didn't have the remakes to buffer it from the games it improved on. Emerald did so it felt fresh again. Platinum felt like you were doing pretty much the same thing again for 90% of the story. It's been close to a decade now so that doesn't matter anymore, in fact it's the defacto game to go to for playing Sinnoh, and I plan to do so after I finish HeartGold.

@@notscorchingsands9718 It's because they wanted to give people a reason to buy the other games, they did this with Ruby Sapphire and Emerald as well, separating Pokemon between each game and not just Ruby and Sapphire and then having exclusive Pokemon in Emerald. I am only fine with this because at least they were quite different games story wise and just with different features like the Battle Frontier etc. I do not like this with the recent games like USUM because they are the exact same games as Sun and Moon for most of the story and don't introduce any new features, they just add exclusive Pokemon to those games that make it feel like you have to get all 4 and play through essentially the exact same game. Platinum added on to DP and was different enough to be considered a different game.
I'm extremely happy to see a popular PokeTuber talk about my favorite Pokemon game of all time because I rarely hear people talk about Platinum (or even any of the other third versions for that matter)! There might be occasional LP or theory, but not something that stays in the back of someone's mind. Anyway, I'm glad I saw this! Let's hope that we can get a Gen IV remake. And for god sakes have it be a remake of Platinum.
The gameplay changes between Pokémon Platinum vs Diamond and Pearl: 1. Expanded Pokédex from mirroring the original 151 Pokémon into 210 Pokémon giving more Pokémon selections like Gardevoir, more alternate Fire-type Pokémon outside of Ponyta lines. 2. Hypnosis is reduced to 60% hit rate because its very broken. 3. Speed up Surf rather than slow motion Surf ala Gold and Silver. 4. Giving alternate forms of Rotom, Shaymin and Giratina.

What's disappointing is even in the Remakes of pokemon DP platinum overall is still superior years later
Imo Platinum is still the best Pokemon game ever made, and gen IV is the best gen (HGSS+Plat+Sinnoh anime).

Platinum is literally Diamond and Pearl but with more content, better features, and just everything wrong with D+P was fixed and enhanced.

No you can also get Flareon, Magmortar (post game) as well as Houndoom from the Poke Radar in post game in Diamond the only difference of them is that you can get Houndoom and Magmortar before post game in Platinum. @@zimonzieclown1633

Technically all the rotom forms were the same type in platinum... so flying type+levitate wasn’t an issue back then
Fun fact, rotom is the only Pokémon to get a type change that wasn’t changed to a type introduced in the generation the change took place.

Nevertheless, DPPt (even the Gen 4 anime) were soooo slow & grindy, but that’s what made success within them soooo rewarding!
The uniqueness of Gen 4, for me, revolves around the emphasis on experiencing & enjoying every aspect of the game.
Platinum, especially, went all out on all fronts tho.
If you wanna put off saving reality from Cyrus, digging for rare treasures in the Underground, or becoming the Sinnoh Champion to make Cher, your Shiny Eevee, a Contest Star, you can do it.
I don't think having too much to do was ever a complaint about Gen 4.

Unfortunately for me, there’s no access to Honchkrow... or Mismagius but Honchkrow is one, if not my favorite Cross-gen Evolutions. It kicked ass for me in Diamond.
Emerald did the same thing. Pokemon like Roselia, Meditite/Medicham and a few others were unavailable as opposed to Ruby and Sapphire.

After ORAS, I really don’t have much hope for a DP remake.
Maybe it was because how great HGSS were. They took the differences from Gold and Silver, but they were mainly a Crystal Remake. And that was awesome.
ORAS was really disappointing because the changes made in Emerald didn’t make it into the remakes. The updated gym teams, so that Winona and Lisa&Tate weren’t pushovers, and to nerf Norman a bit. Giving Watson an actual Hoenn Pokémon. And the Battle Frontier.
Sadly, if we got DP remakes, I fear that they wouldn’t include the additions made in Platinum, like the expanded Pokedex, the Battle Frontier, and the enhanced plot.
I feel like GF rushed the remakes, instead of taking their times with developing it. I hope that they dont rush the DP remakes if they ever do develop them.

Gera WallStar sadly they wouldn’t. Dual releases has been a staple, they wouldn’t deviate. The best we can hope for is that they take inspiration from Platinum as they did take inspiration from Crystal when they remake Gold and Silver.

The back sprites were static animations in Emerald, so they really weren't anything special. In Platinum, we got Pokémon that make little movements, such as opening mouths and wing-flapping.

Also, I love Rotom. 💕 And his backstory with the Old Notebook, which strongly hints at Cyrus. And perhaps people only misunderstood Cyrus shunning Pokemon in favor of machines because they were unaware he was playing with Rotom the whole time and testing its limits as far as what it could do.

@@shenalkagunasekera2574 yeah exactly, Emerald improved alot but Ruby/Sapphire were fairly decent on their own. Crystal is the same game as Gold/Silver, just with animated sprites and Eusine/Suicune arc. but on the other hand Platinum was a MASSIVE improvement in all aspects: speed, animations, story, postgame, Battle Frontier, Sinnoh Dex, fire types, improved elite 4/gym leaders and postgame rematches for all of them, etc. Diamond/Pearl might be nostalgic and all and might be the first games to introduce online battles/trading and all that, but they're mediocre games AT BEST (imo theyre shit)
@@remkoe yellow is the same game as red/blue, just with small changes as references to the anime (pikachu as starter, u can get all 3 kanto starters, Jessie & James, and some other small references like Pidgeotto appearing at Viridian Forest, Giovanni having a Persian or Tauros ratio at Safari Zone being increased from R/B). same thing for Crystal, its the exact same game as gold/silver but with animated front sprites and Eusine/Suicune story. Emerald & Platinum were the only 3rd versions with big changes (specially Platinum)

@Merciless Freak The difficulty wasn't any tougher than the previous generations, it's just that the newer games are a lot easier. Personally, I preferred it that way
@Merciless Freak lol I literally just played pokemon diamond again and got all 8 gym badges with ease. Just know the effectiveness of moves and you are good to go. All I did was battle trainers, no grinding by defeating wild pokemon.

Since the beginning, people have complained about Gym Leaders and Elite Four members being too easy because their shared type means shared weaknesses that can be easily exploited. GF takes that advice to heart and create Volkner and Flint, who rather than specializing in Electric-type and Fire-type Pokemon, respectively, specialize in Pokemon that know Electric-type and Fire-type moves. This allows their teams to have actual diversity, fewer repeated weaknesses, and just generally makes the fights with them require more thought and strategy.
But, for whatever reason, even though this made the fights harder and more interesting while maintaining the traditional type specialist roles, and generally gave people exactly what they wanted, everybody hated it and still shits on them for it even this many years later.
Platinum turning Volkner and Flint into "spam Earthquake and win without effort" was NOT an improvement.
The fire type specialist and electric type specialist having only 2 pokemon that fit their specialty as an elite 4 member and 8th gym leader with the others having literally nothing to do with the trainers isn't good (3 years later)
Platinum is more or less the actual canon SINnoh

The postgame is definitely one of my favorite things, especially getting the cool stuff (and extra music) in the villa. I need the villa back.

I personally like Sinnoh the most as a region and when I was younger I thought Sinnoh similar to my home country as Russia and only a few years ago I learned part of it is based off Russia. I lived in the Europe side of Russia but I have visited the Asia side many times including the part that the part of the Sinnoh region is based off of
Sinnoh region is based on the Hokkaido island in Japan.
One simple addition/improvement I liked was the access to Gible and the earthquake tm early on

I remember playing Diamond then eventually Platinum as a little kid at age 10, started with Chimchar and solo'd it with an lvl 82 Infernape, lvl 66 Gastrodon, lvl 53 Staraptor with the rest of my team being around lvl 45 as the dumb kid I was at the time XD. I am 19 now, going to college/working full time, but in the light of the COVID-19 crisis, laid off from my job and being forced to stay home, I am playing pearl and platinum on an emulator on a Samsung Galaxy tab since I gave away my old DSi. I am hooked since it is so nostalgic. I'll be looking forward to a sinnoh remake in the future.

Also The Adamant orb and the other orb for palkia will make Dialga And Palkia go primal, also I'm sorry for not knowing the orb for palkia. I have only played Diamond.

Platinum my VERY first game on the NDSi when DS was first released. Would had bought Pearl or Diamond (definitely Diamond because it had Dialga on the cover) but it had very mint game cover that was shiny...I have no regrets

Those are the advantages I think Platinum has over Diamond and Pearl. Although BD and SP definitely improved on the Underground.
The 4th Gen was easily the best, with the crown jewel that is Platinum.

By back sprite animation they mean the pokemon actually moves (jaw opening, wings flap, etc.) In diamond and pearl they add an effect to the sprite but it doesn't actually move
Ive always liked diamond over pearl and platinum as i have more nastalgia for it and played it more, but platinum has improved the game alot from diamond and pearl and think it may have made it better

Nostalgia Hits me again, i still remember that i actually have a bibarel until the end of the game and the bibarel was not a hm slave, i just don't know why i carried it until i finished the game maybe because i was a kid back then🤣.
I love Platinum, but I think the thing that was off putting about it at the time was it didn't have the remakes to buffer it from the games it improved on. Emerald did so it felt fresh again. Platinum felt like you were doing pretty much the same thing again for 90% of the story. It's been close to a decade now so that doesn't matter anymore, in fact it's the defacto game to go to for playing Sinnoh, and I plan to do so after I finish HeartGold.
Only way diamond is better has honchcrow cause for some reason they took it out in platinum....................... so many whys.

@@notscorchingsands9718 It's because they wanted to give people a reason to buy the other games, they did this with Ruby Sapphire and Emerald as well, separating Pokemon between each game and not just Ruby and Sapphire and then having exclusive Pokemon in Emerald. I am only fine with this because at least they were quite different games story wise and just with different features like the Battle Frontier etc. I do not like this with the recent games like USUM because they are the exact same games as Sun and Moon for most of the story and don't introduce any new features, they just add exclusive Pokemon to those games that make it feel like you have to get all 4 and play through essentially the exact same game. Platinum added on to DP and was different enough to be considered a different game.
I'm extremely happy to see a popular PokeTuber talk about my favorite Pokemon game of all time because I rarely hear people talk about Platinum (or even any of the other third versions for that matter)! There might be occasional LP or theory, but not something that stays in the back of someone's mind.
Anyway, I'm glad I saw this! Let's hope that we can get a Gen IV remake. And for god sakes have it be a remake of Platinum.

The giratina form that attacked Cyrus was altered form, not origin.
The gameplay changes between Pokémon Platinum vs Diamond and Pearl:
1. Expanded Pokédex from mirroring the original 151 Pokémon into 210 Pokémon giving more Pokémon selections like Gardevoir, more alternate Fire-type Pokémon outside of Ponyta lines.
2. Hypnosis is reduced to 60% hit rate because its very broken.
3. Speed up Surf rather than slow motion Surf ala Gold and Silver.
4. Giving alternate forms of Rotom, Shaymin and Giratina.
Back Sprites were animated in Emerald...
