Who found this because of the amazing TV series. What We Do in the Shadows? I can't believe it's finished 😭 It lead me to the voice of this amazing person & I am so sorry to learn of her passing! ❤️✌🏼🎶🎬 BAT
Me.I just watched the last episode of What we do in the shadows.I just discovered it about a month ago and it quickly becames one of my favorite shows ever
@jaydee0187 I am going to watch it right through again, after I finish watching *Barry. Nadja is my favourite 😍 her potty mouth & dumbfoundidness is amazing & her lines are phenomenal 😂
Billy released it and it didn’t really sell, she did her version and it didn’t really sell both in the late 70s,them Billy released the live version in the early 80s and it became a hit
Every time she sang those songs, which must have been thousands of times, you got the feeling it was the first time, and she was singing it just for you. She lit those places up, and all the people as well. What a bright little light.
Ronnie Spector's Christmas shows at the City Winery used to be a huge part of Christmas for me, she would tell her amazing series of being a real rock n roll survivor. The background to this song was apparently after escaping barefoot from Phil Spector's mansion she was back in New York working as a domestic cleaner for a living. One day a Liverpudlian voice shouted across the street to her "Hey Spector girl how are you doing". It was John Lennon . She said she was having a hard time and Lennon said, "give Jimmy Iovine a call he is working with some kid from New Jersey who they say is the next big thing. The kid was Bruce Springsteen and within a month or so she was on the road doing BVs with the E Street Band. Someone should make a movie of her story, it makes Tina Turner's battles sound tame. I hope somewhere there is a video of those concerts they were so special. Christmas is not the same without Ronnie Spector.
Damn she sings this good. It’s been one of my fave Billy Joel songs since the 70’s. Didn’t know it was a tribute to Ronnie or that she’d covered it. RIP to a genuine legend.
thank you, @E W ! enough of the Philip bashing! they roasted him with no real evidence. if he is crazy, then why was that not considered in the verdict? many will lie under oath for $$! and BTW, if everyone hates him so much, why did Ronnie not change her name when she remarried?
Linda J Gaeta okay first of all. He killed an actress in 2003, and he locked Veronica(Ronnie) in his mansion With his children locked in their rooms aswell. There is a lot of evidence my friend
@@sebziez - indeed! She earns no royalties from the Ronettes' hits, as she agreed to forfeit those in her divorce settlement under extreme pressure from that lunatic.
@@lindajgaeta8935 - because if most people saw posters advertising 'Ronnie Greenfield In Concert', they'd think, "Who's she?" When they see the name 'Ronnie Spector' up there, they know exactly who she is! Sadly, in order to stay in business, she has had to use her hateful ex-husband's surname professionally.
I forgot Billy Joel wrote this for Ronnie until reminded last night on a TV tribute to her. This is such is such a sweet video & shows she really was a one off. Thank you, Ronnie
Your music is as much a part of my life as my brothers are..thank you Ronnie, you'll always be here with us who appreciate re music and the people who made it..
Rest In Peace, Ronnie. Thanks for your voice and music ❤️ So much more than a muse but as inspiring to Phil, Brian Wilson, and obviously as heard here, Billy Joel.
THAT’S what was wrong… could not put my finger on that mis-matched, over-blown too-loud band sound… it was all wrong for her soulful singing. Thanks for clearing up the mystery!
First time hearing this version. What a great voice she had. You can hear a bit of Southside and the Jukes in it. Rip Ronnie your music will live on. 💙
FTR, this is a Billy Joel song she recorded as a one-off 45 stab at an album deal (didn't happen) w The E-Street Band (no Bruce, but plenty of Clarence). Who sez Jersey n Long Island ain't cool 'bout our respective heroes - esp when it comes to honoring the legends who propelled each to a lifetime crap-shoot of bottling lightening? Props to all. Miss you, Veronica, always.
Probably my most favorite song ever I truly miss and love Ronnie Spector she came from a different music era than me but I can relate to her beautiful music anytime anywhere
For me, she was up there with Karen Carpenter as one of the all-time great singers in rock & roll. She was beautiful and a natural and I loved her. RIP.....legend
Her talent never wavered. Same sexy , slightly raspy voice. Happy go lucky kid from ny. She never let us down. Will always be our little b a b y. Bless your spirit.

Well, I heard several covers of this song. So far, Ronnie is still 1'st place.

The way she interacts, with every song she ever sang. She put everything into each song. What an artist. Thanks Ronnie

It's like my youth is slipping away, R.I.P. Ronnie.

This should’ve been a big hit for her what a great song. Her voice is just great.
