- Activate MagicJack device, setup MagicJack App, and setup Home phone on magicJack. This detailed video also provides overview of the magic Jack App, and how to connect (wire) the home phone to magic jack device (or magicjack to home phone). All activation is done at MagicJackCom website and is super easy. I have personally used this service for more than 2 years and am very happy with it.

WHAT COMES WITH and IN THE BOX:
New magicjackHome device comes with 1-year of service prepaid, everything needed to get a new U.S. or Canada phone number, and start using the magicjack service with home phone or through Magicjack App. (MagicJack for Business is a different setup exclusively for MagicJackBusiness)
DOES THE COMPUTER HAVE TO BE 'ON' TO GET CALLS ON MAGICJACK MOBILE APP?
No, the PC or laptop where you activate magicjack does Not need to be On to get calls on the App. We use computer (PC or laptop) only to :
activate the MagicJack device
setup account on MajicJack.com
Connect MagicJack app to your MagicJack.com account - download MagicJack mobile app, log- in to it on your phone, in MagicJack.com account confirm you are using this app. then log out of the MagjicJack.com online account.
After above steps are complete, remove the MagicJack Device from computer and store it away and Power-Off computer. That is it, start using the magic jack app on your phone. I recently helped someone setup magic jack account and use just the magic jack app, and it is working perfectly.
WHEN SOMEONE CALLS, DOES PHONE RING AT HOME AND ON THE APP?
Yes, the incoming call will ring on your home phone and also on the app on your mobile phone. Pickup the call from where it is easy.
WHAT IF YOU DON'T NEED HOME PHONE?
If you do not need a home phone, just use the magicApp (magicJack App) on your smart phone and store away the magicJack adapter and phone. Magic Jack app only needs internet connection to work - which can be through WiFi or data / internet service through cell phone company.

Enter your Phone number to check if it can be Ported in to MagicJack
In summary, land line phone number, mobile cell phone number, and a google-voice number! I have personally ported all these. These phone numbers can be ported-out of magicJack to any phone company. (some VOIP companies do not allow port-out)
HOW TO PORT-IN A PHONE NUMBER TO MAGIC-JACK
After verifying that a number can be ported into MagicJack (see above), activate service through MagicJack with a new phone number, then log into your magicJack account and request a number transfer which typically completes in 3 business days. The video shows all these steps. Everything is done electronically and there is no need to call customer service. There is $19.95 additional charge to port-in a number.
ACTIVATE USA OR CANADA PHONE NUMBER WHILE OUTSIDE OF USA?
How to install MagicJack when outside the USA? Yes!! the install and activation of MagicJAck while overseas is similar to the one you see in video above, the only difference is to use a VPN and connect to USA/Canada when doing the install-Activation. No difference in steps.
I have personally activated a magicJack device for someone in family who lives overseas, and had a USA phone number on Google Voice that they could not use so they needed a functioning USA number on which call and texting works. I activated a new magicJack phone number while overseas, and then ported their Google Voice USA phone number over it. Now they are able to make and receive calls, and send & receive text, AND, can also setup a USA whatsapp on this phone number. All done in 2 days, 100% verified after completing.
DOES THE SERVICE WORK OUTSIDE THE COUNTRY
Yes, absolutely!! you will receive the call anywhere you have a WiFi signal. You can be sitting half-way around the world and as long as you have internet service on your phone, you can use the magicJack phone number to receive and make calls.

Do i need the device if I only want to use the magic jack app on my cell phone? If the device is needed to set up an account on a cell phone, do I need two devices to set up an account for both me and my wife or would one device work?
Device is needed to activate / setup the account after which you can unplug the device and put in drawer, download the magicapp and use the newly setup phone number on cell phone. But each magicjack account (phone number) supports one magic-app only. What it means is: If you log into the same account (same phone number) on magic-app on a second cell phone , the magicapp will log you out of the app on the first cell phone.

@FlyBeee I have both my businesses, my home phone and most my relatives using them. The fact that a live person FROM Canada answers calls with no waiting queues is truly unbelievable in 2024. These little providers are few and far between but solid gold when you find em. ✨️

hello, how long did it take to get your number ported
It took 3 business days to get it ported. When we activate magic jack device we get assigned a phone number and the service on this number is active right away, however porting in a number takes addnl work. I have done port with magic jack twice and both times took 3 business days to get my number ported into magic jack at which time the temporary number goes away and ported number starts working.
Can you use the app on two different phones? If so, does it ring on both phones at the same time?
Good question. I recently tried exactly this and will say it this way - you can be logged into the app on only one phone at at time. You can have the app installed on another phone, but when log into the app on the 2nd phone, it logs you out on the first phone! lol. you can use app on two different phones - but not at the same time

Can this tool be used in China?
@@bellaliu-seeworld8880 It worked for me when I was traveling overseas so this should work in China because it only need internet access to work, which is plenty in China. unless govt blocks it, which I don't know why it would.
Does it have to be a Apple phone.. I've never had a cell so just asking..
Using the 'app' (Magic app) to make/receive calls is an additional and option feature. You can use the MagicJack only as home phone - the setup you see in this video. At some point in future if you decide to have a cell phone, then download the magicapp for use - which can be used on any smart phone. Again, using app is totally optional. The video shows the home phone I setup and still use today. Let me know if you have any other Qs I can help answer.
Can I use any Ethernet cable with the magicjack ?
Yes,. When using with home phone, the magicjack device requires an ethernet cable connection which is explained from video count 14:50

The MagicJack will create a phone number - but not randomly, it will ask you what state and city you want the phone number for. Example: new york, chicago, san francisco etc. You have option to get Canadian phone number or USA phone number. If you are outside of USA, when you activate magicjack be sure to have a VPN connect to USA.
Can I activate my magic jack from the Philippines?
Can you install magic jack while I'm in the Philippines?
Yes, absolutely! you can install and activate it while overseas. I explain this in 'description' of this video. I personally did this a couple months ago .. took a Magic Jack device with me overseas (in Asia) and installed and activated it - I first activated a new USA phone number, then ported an existing USA phone number on it. Everything worked perfectly. New number was active immediately, and port was complete in 3 business days - Use a VPN though because MagicJack is for USA and Canadian numbers only.
If you can get the magic jack device shipped to you thats perfect! If you do not have it, another option is to have a trusted person in USA or Canada to buy it in local store (or on Amazon) and activate it there, and then give you the login and password to the magicjack account. You can then login from Philippines and start using the app. Let me know if you have Qs.

@@DaleHarper-eb8ix the install and activation of MagicJAck while overseas is similar to the one you see in video above, the only difference is to use a VPN and connect to USA/Canada when doing the install-Activation. If you have a specific situation or are currently overseas and trying to get a US phone number to work overseas, please let me know the details of your question. I had to travel international a few times and have tested several US phone services overseas and am happy to share the info if it helps.
@@FlyBeee This is my problem. I live overseas and need a U.S. number to receive text messages, so I am thinking about getting a MagicJack. I tried a Skype number, but my bank does not recognize it. :(
I’m at the screen “let’s get your number set up” I don’t see an option to use current home phone number just free number or vanity number
During initial activation and setup MagicJack assigns a phone number - after phone is active we can port-in an existing phone number. video count 7:35 onwards shows the steps to port in your current (existing) phone number.

I had this error message when I was setting up a different MagicJack while overseas - but this is how I fixed it. if you are creating the account overseas (away from USA) then use a VPN to connect to USA. If already in USA then call the magic jack 800#.
I am plugging my ethernet cable directly into the router (Verison white tower and then into the magic Jack) getting a yellow light on the the magic jack.. blinks a little.. phone is plugged in.. but no dial tone. what do you think is the problem? do I need to buy another device external of the router itself? thank you for your video
Question: Did you activate the magic jack adapter by connecting it into a computer /laptop - before plugging in the Ethernet cable into it?
